Before the action rpg and fighting game, I literally never heard of this series and people keep hyping/bashing both games like it's an established franchise.

it started out as a web-based gacha game with old-school jrpg combat and random rolls for units and their weapons, then it got ported to mobile phones. it's said to be one of the best in the genre, but imho the whole genre is trash and being king of poop mountain is not something i'd be proud of.
the porn is nice though. and the fighting game and the traditional rpg look good.
Its a pretty traditional turn based browser RPG with gacha. Lots of characters, classes, weapons, summons to work for with a main story and other quests that require AP to do. Standard gacha elements. Very popular in Japan

Mobile gacha game with some art guys from the older Final Fantasy games.
Also waifus, notably the draph race's females which got a lot of attention in the form of doujins.
Gacha is quite old now, and was essentially created to raise funds for proper games.
It's more f2p friendly than most, and has more gameplay than just "lets roll for the next waifu".
The setting is pretty good and likeable, though the writers tend to make contradictions.

Having fallen prey to the gacha trap as a result of constant air trips and lack of funds, I can actually say that Granblue is one of the few that actually puts serious effort behind what they do.
Mind you the writting is still atrocious, but you can clearly see they actually wanted to make something notable and it is, in fact, actually fun as an RPG. Not something you can say about any gacha really, since they play essentially by themselves, whereas GB thankfully doesn't.
I'd play Granblue if the got rid of their retarded vertical setup and went horizontal like normal people
