E3 is fast approching. Several reliable sources is starting to confirm me this year Nintendo booth will be mixed games-themed area. Last years it was Super Mario Odyssey and Super Smash Bros Ultimate. I received information about items being featured: > An Animal Crossing house. > Luigi's poltergeist. > Pikmin flowers. > Link's Master Sword. > Bayonetta's weapons. > Giant figures of Mario and Luigi builders. > A Fire Emblem. > The Wind Fish's Egg from Zelda: Link's Awakening. > The "Legion" weapon from Astral Chain. > A Metroid figure.
>mixed games theme instead of focusing on one game Pokemon is bigger than Smash, yet they decided not to give an overwhelming focus on it even though it's bigger than Smash as a franchise. This is good. It gives me hope that their Direct won't spend 30 minutes on one game. I'm glad that Nintendo listened to those people who were annoyed at Smash getting 30 minutes of focus on a 45 minute Direct last year. In fact, I hope Smash doesn't make an appearance in this year's Direct. Just put up a random trailer of the next DLC character instead of taking up time that should be spent on showing off new games.

New Pokemon games have never really been the main focus of previous E3 Directs beyond getting a new trailer and maybe a few minutes of new feature stuff. If I had to guess, this year they'll go big on Zelda and Animal Crossing, considering Mario Maker will be out just a couple weeks after E3 and Fire Emblem is more of a niche thing.
