why people pay hundreds of bucks for decades old vidya?
Why people pay hundreds of bucks for decades old vidya?
onions poisoning
They have an income while you don't
Collectors is hardly a new phenomenon. But yeah snoibois or whatever someone get a few wojaks up in here
Because they heard other people were paying to same amount of money for them
they make good kindling
Collectors are a dogshit race of subhuman animals that can only find joy in hoarding.
Any time I see someone saying "want to see my collection of guitars pedals/comics/MTG/figs/records/cartridge games/etc, I can safely dismiss their opinions about anything and everything. Collecting is a litmus for retarded people.
what are you, poor?
>Buy a SNES flashcard
>Dab on onions collectors and emulator poorfags
Guarantee you that guy is happy now. Free from his terrible hobby
too much onions
Collectors don't care about emulators
I own my house and buy useful things, not dogshit that sits in cases.
I almost had a super nintendo with 20 games including eartyhbound for $150 but sone faggot messaged the seller and they cancelled
>collecting stamps is OK
>collecting video games is not
?
This is always the best option. You get to use the original console and accessories but you don’t need to deal with the stupid rising prices of old games caused by collectors.
usually collectors play their games through roms rather than using their actual copies cause that might ruin its shelf-life
>stamps in a folder tucked in a shelf, nicely and tidy, dont take too much space
>cluttering your home with plastic and electronics, mostly games that you dont actually play
I'd rather my game library be vulnerable to fire than me saying the wrong thing online, and then the political overlords of the current era take everything away from me. But you do you buddy.
I only pay 100 for new games
Because they need a physical object on a shelf. They are not comfortable with only having memories that are much more personal, so they need something else to say "Look I enjoyed this game! I'm such a fan!" It's not necessarily to prove to others, but probably for themselves.
They are the ultimate materialists and care less about games and more about filling a void in themselves.
Or who knows maybe I'm just an asshole and what I'm saying is bullshit. At least I don't spend hundreds of dollars on an old SNES cart.
retro game market is so fucking bloated it makes no sense, these are not rare commodities, some of these games where printed by the millions, but still even super mario bros 3, that should be 2bucks max, is over 20 bucks nowadays, just utter insanity for an outdated tech
It's about the authenticity of experience. Playing an original cart is a different experience from putting a ROM on a flashcart. Of course, I wouldn't expect a board full of people who claim 2D anime girls are better than real girls to understand.
funny post but you're a pseud
p much basic human psychology that its easier to remember experiences by having a physical object tied to them- in this case a physical selection on a shelf
i have a middling CD collection and have fond memories of many of them, mostly road trips or times spent with friends, sex, parties, etc.
your memories of good times fade much more readily without an object to trigger those feelings again
They like it.
I personally haven't paid more than 30 bucks for a video game with the average price being somewhere in the 10s in like 5 years. Games are too fucking expensive for what you get so it's much more economical to wait 3 months to buy it a pawn shop for 5 bucks.
New games are a scam. Buy local, buy used, and buy bulk.
isnt ebay full of very convincing fakes nowadays?
too stupid to hack their 3ds and download game
what shit country doesnt recycle their aluminum coke cans?
I pick them out when I toss the trash out.
>diet shasta cola
you best be trolling me
How authentic is a reproduction cartridge compared to a flash cart if it’s convincing enough to be a real cartridge and you’re not personally aware that it’s a repro?
they do it to post images on twatter for internet points and then sell them at a loss a day later
As authentic as the real thing. Especially if the game code is on mask ROM. There's literally no difference from a 90s cartridge other than date of manufacture.
I can understand that. Having something to remember it by is fine, but I don't get wanting to own as much merchandise as possible. Do I really need 100 Yoshi plushies to remember that I loved Yoshi's Island as a kid? Also this might be a bit too personal, but my grandpa is a hoarder and I just have a disdain for keeping all that.
>buy local, buy used
You know that your local used games store is one of the biggest rackets around, right?
I wonder how fat the amerilard who took this picture is
Isn't there a vlog channel on YouTube that collects Earthbound carts because it was special to their marriage or something?
Not him, but you're talking about two different things:
You're talking about ownership of incidental materials and their emotional worth.
He is talking about the active pursuit and hoarding of collectables.
You are the pseud honestly for thinking incidental accumulation = active materialism.
They have yet to make a repro that has any sort of special chip in it (SA-1, Super FX) that's not gutted from a regular cart, though. As far as I know, even an Everdrive can't load those, which will block out some of the best late-era SNES games from access (Super Mario RPG, Yoshi's Island, etc.)
>waaaa cant say nigger online
what a pussy
Just get a VGA CRT and emulate that shit.
Most of the big money is in mint sealed product
No fucking idea. Sure it's good to own the games you've played as a kid, but a complete collection? None of this physical garbage will matter when I die so I stick to roms.
best collections are those with very thought out games and consoles that wont clutter your house, these are also the "comfiest" when people take photos of them
Those people that collect tend to do it for the experience of collecting in itself and not the memories or personal value that object has.
>Trash burns.
Who would have guessed?
so its secondhand Retail Therapy? thats sad
This. Collecting is for faggots that literally want to wreck the hobby so they can take pictures of the shit. How this shallow shit is tolerated on Yea Forums is incredible.
Bit rot
Earthbound fans are the worst thehardtimes.net
Agreed to an extent. You also should get a nice controller. I use a Logitech F310 I have for general use, and a couple USB replicate controllers,
Personally my favorite option is connecting original controllers to GPIO pins on an RPI. *sips tea*
>kojima applied foxdie on twin snakes discs to rustle collectorfags
KOJIMAAAAAA
sega cd games are already dying
Stamp collecting is stupid too
How many collectors do you think own reproduction cartridges and don't even know it?
a few of the ps1 games i've accrued are unplayable due to disc rot. nothing pisses me off like people who say digital is temporary because of server shutdowns, disc rot is INEVITABLE, servers can be reestablished but your disc will never metamorph into a fresh version
It's a hilarious thought.
Wait, that could be me.
>chocolate, chips, and soda
jesus fucking christ save your intestine while you still can
I was like you, and now it's bland chicken and rice for the rest of my days.
A lot. They’ll probably never figure out about them though because the games are sitting inside of their boxes inside of their box protectors and will never actually be pulled out and played.
yeah sounds reasonable
actual hoarding is a very different phenomenon and i share your dislike for it
some dude collecting vidya or music isn't the same though
mmmm nope, looks like we're both responding to a picture of a man purchasing a video game (aka the medium itself and not "active pursuit and hoarding of collectibles"
unless yr just samefagging and trying to change your statement after the fact lol
>source: my ass
theyre very common now
and people buy them willingly apparently
This. There might not even be circuitry inside them, just an empty shell and they wouldn't notice.
Go say nigger to a black cop and we'll see what happens.
I'm trying to purge through my junk food slowly. Trying to get /fit/ but don't want to waste money throwing perfectly fine food out.
>junk food
>perfectly fine food
pick one
That isn't food user it's poison designed to drain your wallet and your health.
You may have been raised with
>You should appreciate food
But if you are a lardass and let's be honest here; you are; you need to learn to fucking cook and get your shit together
>"I-I'll go to the gym after I eat this $10 pack of Reeses!!!"
Pathetic
>the guys disappointed face
kek
The true way to go about it is to emulate your games but buy the games that you really love and hold meaning to you.
I appreciate food but I appreciate money more. I paid money for the junk food I have and I'm going to enjoy it. Eating healthier honestly just means eating less shit. That pack of Reese's that used to last me a day now last me a week or two.
Like I said, I'm not planning on buying more but since I have it may as well eat it.
You fucking autists see a goddamn trash can full of trash and assume that it's a days worth. That trash has been there since Monday.
>Source: my ass
In video games at least, I've seen people collect unreleased games and just refusing to even let people know what the game is like, they justify it by saying they are investing on their retirement or some shit like that and they just happened to know the right people to get the game but they would have probably done it with anything else if they didn't had that disc/cart.
These people have legitimate issues.
>nothing pisses me off like people who say digital is temporary because of server shutdowns
Digital is temporary and you will never able to truly say you own them, don't get mad over the truth. Moreover, disc rot is INEVITABLE only for certain manufacturers, many ps1 discs still work, many discs from even earlier still work, Atari cartridges still work (depends on whoever manufactured them). Many will likely still work for decades to come, sure, it might be inevitable that they'll age and rot to the point were you can't even fix them, but that's just the passage of time.
Godlike comment. V Consent. Strong agree
Great, now we can safely assume that you are slob that never throws his trash out and won't last a month at the gym
>2 bags of chips in less than one week
holy shit user
>buy a game
>save it to a hard-drive or multiple ones
there, you own it
Not with modern always-online DRM.
You say that as if all the roms on your computer have DRM
Those chips have been there for a month. I don't even like chips anymore purely on the fact that I can hardly have fucking any without fucking up my daily calorie limit.
My trash gets taken out weekly, user. On Sunday I wrangle up the trash bins around the house and throw them in the big dumpster outside.
I don't know why you autists are so goddamn negative to the point where you seethe at the sight of a bag of chips.
I admitted, you fucking got me. I'm a big fat tub of lard who eats like dogshit like most of this goddamn site.
mine are like that too. is that just what happenes to certain GC discs?
>loose game in an open storage area gets rotted
>collecting for Sega MemeD in the first place
gog.com gives you drm free files
People who don't collect or use emulators are the video game equivalent of people who just watch the newest marvel super hero movie
S'OY in the drinking water.
Yes. GOG is great, but not everything is available on it.
user reallly oughta stop feeding these trolls.
i used to collect in early/mid 2000s before youtube made it a thing and the soibois appeared. Havent spent more then 100-200 bucks for my 70 NES games and 15 consoles+games
>if you dont hoard plastic, you suck
>his entire personality and identity vanished in a single blazing night
this but unironically
F
I don't understand why you neckbeard Eastern Europeans are so against this? I remember game magazines used to show off huge collections not just of games but gaming memorabilia, we all thought it was awesome.
Now the Euros and normies are into games and they hate anything to do with collecting. Just go to EB Games buy the newest game then trade it in for the next newes thing.
No thanks, I like going back to my old games all CIB which I've been collecting since I was 6 years old
i think people are just pissed off the inflated retromarket of overpriced games
>people who don't care about decade old plastic shit and actually enjoy vidya are the same who consume capeshit
really gets the noggin joggin
ntsc games are so common that you could fill several stadiums full of them, in pal regions people charge 30bucks for a loose smb3, eventhough its not rare and is shitty 50hz version lol
Go buy Atari games then, that bubble burst a long time ago now that the kids from the 70's had to give up their hobby for family or whatever other reason.
I'm starting to see prices go down a bit, because the collectors for NES, SNES and N64 have to give up their hobbies now that they're starting families, the zoomers who grew up with gamecube and Wii though, they're driving those prices up now.
It's just the natural cycle of things
Yeah it's the same price here, I don't check loose prices but Mario bros 3 CIB I've seen for $50 CAD
>bought my gamecube collection when Gamestop was liquidating their 6th gen stuff in 2009
>atari games
Also Europes market is biggger, you have 800 million people
Canada and America combined is about 350 million
Things gain value depending on demand and how good it was back then ,theres no exeption just for some low production bullshit its really easy to do you sound really upset for what you cant get or afford its not hoarding people like things and they get lucky because it gain a lot of value
Pretty much this.
Getting physical version of game you like = based
If it's a game released during 5th-6th gen (because emulating those is kinda bleh) = redpilled
Getting physical because you saw AVGN shit on a game = cringe
Getting physical because "it's the only correct way to play" = bluepilled
If you actually just buy them to resell them = extra cringe
Can someone give me an English translation
>Getting physical version of game you like = based
>looking up Shantae for GBC
>Getting physical because "it's the only correct way to play" = bluepilled
Woah, so it's bluepilled to get the most authentic experience? Damn I guess I can just emulate House of the Dead and use save States and a mouse and keyboard instead of playing the arcade
i agree with the 5-6th gen argument. N64 emulation is notoriously spotty. Last time i used an N64 emulator for Goemon's Great Adventure the fucking underwater area glitched out unless you turned off graphic layers and even then that made enemies disappear too. Long story short i am happy with my modest 30-40 N64 game collection and only missing a few random things like Snowboard Kids 2, Paper Mario and the Zelda game but i'm in zero rush to get the last ones because i own them on three other consoles.
>MUH AUTHENTIC
just get a flashcard and play it on the real system
>you need the og cabinet of house of the dead to really enjoy the game
typing of the dead is better desu
"A fool and his money are soon parted." - Some old faggot
N64 didn't even have a lot of games, I got literally 80% of the good games for it when they originally released. All I'm missing really are a few Japanese exclusives and some less common games or games that I just didn't really consider back then because I didn't know what they were.
using Mupen Plus N64 emu on Retroarch and playing banjo-kazooie with full hd resolution and it runs great, n64 emulation has come a long way, theres still hiccups on some games but better than blowing 50bucks on a cartridge that looks like shit on your hd tv without framemeister
>pegging your food bags
yup, that checks the "sperg faggot" off the checklist for vidya cringe.
are there any jap exclusive N64 games worth going after besides Sin & Punishment?
I hate keyboatds, I'm so glad the iPad came out so I don't need a computer anymore.
The only flash cart I would get would be for Neo Geo because those games cost literally thousands of dollars, which even if you're making twice the average wage is still a lot of money.
Whole thread has been about consoles so I was referring to those, with consoles I'd say the most important part of the experience is the controller and many of them can be used on a PC these days, this only counts for good emulators though, which any major pre-5th gen console has and you would have to be really stubborn to say Dolphin didn't made incredible progress. Also there is literally nothing inherently wrong with save states being an option, there is nothing forcing you to use them if you don't feel like it.
>paying retail for retro
only soibois and trust funders pay sticker price for their retro vidya. find communities of collectorfags who want to downsize for way less than what you'd find online or in local game shops. or you can get stupid lucky and find stuff in the wild but everyone does that nowadays and dried up the market.
Custom Robo 1 and 2
Having the box and manual is just as important as having the game itself and it's not just the controller, to also the screen you use.
>there is nothing wrong with save states being an option
Yes there is
Sorry to burst your bubble, but he's started collecting again.
>Custom Robo
isn't that just an Animal World situation where burgers got the definitive edition later on anyway? I got the gamecube version already.
>having the box and manual
Let me tell anyone that has ever rented a game that they didn't... Oh I get it, congrats for a minute I got trolled.
Will he invest in circuit breakers too?
he didnt learn his lesson then, also why why didnt he insure his collection?
I just want the systems, don't care about wasting any more money past that. I mod or get flashcarts so I don't kill myself trying to play some games nigs are charging $80+ each
>all those consoles
user I hope they're on isolated power lines or at least not on all at the same time.
>Shasta Cola
Wow, I had no idea they still made that shit. I haven't seen it for sale anywhere in well over 15 years.
I hope that nigga got homeowners because these manchildren never think to insure their collection of anime girls or sex dolls or whatever
>animal world
But no, the N64 games never came out in the west
Why would I be trolling? I hate these dumb cunts on eBay who'll describe their game as being in "good condition" but they don't even include the case. Yes, that Mario box is the case if it's missing then the condition isn't good you don't sell the box as an extra it should be expected to be included
>Erectile Dysfunction 64
KEK what game is that
>Some loser got shantae on a garage sale for cheap
>The label is damaged and the cardtridge has scratches
>Another one got action 52 for literally cents
>They try to sell it on our group for twice the average price just because hurr it costs that on the U.S. durr
That kind of people deserve the rope
They sell that shit at grocery outlet all the time.
What the FUCK happened to the bottom half of that SNES?
>Gamecube
>Vintage
S
Not exactly, the first 3 games (one of which was a 2D GBA release) were never released here in any capacity, the Gamecube version was a brand new game in the series and not an upgraded port like AC. Having said that, unless you're nostalgic for the N64 versions for some reason I see no reason to bother, the GC version is much better IMO and didn't really cut anything.
He forgot to use retr0bright on it. Either that or he likes the two-tone look of it.
The plastic of the first few revisions turns gets discolored over time.
Vintage ends with the Mega Drive, Super Famicom and PC Engine
They only have power when I turn on the TV and only a select few at that. The others require the Xbox one to be on before being supplied power in the same fashion.
Ever Drive, redpilled friend.
Thirft store bought. Oxidation over time. Too lazy to go about cleaning it.
It will be vintage in two years. How time flies.
What game is Ever Drive?
My favourite driving game on N64 is California Speed
How can it be vintage in 2 years when the PS1 and N64 aren't vintage yet
still wont be /vr/ qualified cause DOOMfags wont allow it
Good, it's not retro
You must not shop at discount shops then. Dollar Tree, Big Lots, Family Dollar, etc. All those places sell it here in Ohio anyway.
>buying food from dollar tree
ishgyddt
>Having said that, unless you're nostalgic for the N64 versions for some reason I see no reason to bother, the GC version is much better IMO and didn't really cut anything.
So it's like Gauntlet Legends is to Gauntlet Dark Legacy got it!
Anything younger than 100 years but older than 20 is considered vintage, but vintage is a dumb fucking word used to sell old crap anyway.
>tfw i used to be this guy
>tfw i convinced my mom to spend $200 on this childrens toy for my birthday a couple years ago
how come dreamcast is concidered retro?
Luckily all my games are digital.
Reminder that the secret to happiness is detaching yourself from the material world
Flashcarts for N64
what toy was it, user?
This guy gets it.
Wrong I'm not fucking vintage
Because /vr/ is fucking retared and full of emunigger flash cucks
Dreamcast is a modern console
I just don't get it. In a world where no matter how shitty your computer and internet connection are you could have every conceivable retro game ready to play at your fingertips in a few hours time max, why anyone would pay substantial money for them.
its actually cluttering your room with shit for 2 seconds of internet cred
Ok fucks, heres the thing about collecting;
I been doing this since 1996 and realistically, the best collections are filled with games you love and will play.
A complete NES set? Fucking worthless.
The system has like 750~ games and about 250 of them are 6/10 or higher and worth any time you have. The others are shit like Jaws, a game you will play for 10 mins and go "shit, why'd i pick this up?"
When i was 5, i wanted ALL the NES games but now that im older and got to use emulation to try games, im glad im not paying over 1k for little samson.
That said, i do have a collection. Its all in pull out stack drawers, about maybe 800 games for about 12 systems including current gen shit. I only kept the shit i rented or got dirt cheap and liked it, everything else goes to fund my market adventures which I sell on ebay under priced.
I picked up Mario Odyssey this morning at my market for 50 cents, does this mean Switch is dead?
Only gay ass normies who actually jack off to 3D harlots use flash drives
>Reminder that the secret to happiness is detaching yourself from the material world
The secret to happiness is finding shit that makes you personally happy and doing it. That could be material or immaterial depending on who you are.
>Some loser got shantae on a garage sale for cheap
>it's a reseller faggot just trying to whore it out to the highest bidder
to be fair if I found it I would treat it like a nest egg too but I wouldn't try to shill it out unless i REALLY needed the money. I can make a thousand dollars. Ain't no finding a CIB of that game at a decent price.
because enough people screaming BUT MUH GEN 5.5 and the jannies caved in
I feel the same way about people who still buy Blu-rays/DVDs.
>Reminder that the secret to happiness is detaching yourself from the material world
you're either a Buddhist or a zoomer. And I don't think you're a Buddhist.
Some people like video games, and think a good game is a good game regardless of release date. The less of something their is, the more people are willing to pay for it. Economics is a high school course, so I understand why you guys don't get it yet.
>im glad im not paying over 1k for little samson.
blame those youtuber chucklefucks for driving the price up like crazy. I distinctly remember a time in 2012 when you could walk into a retro store and grab it for 50 bucks.
actual, legitimate non-shitpost response:
self validation and importance. rarely is it ever out of love for a hobby, most of the time the people that do this do it to look """cool""" and to impress their fellow basedchuggers
HDR always looks "laggy" if that makes sense when a torrent movies. It's like the lighting is 2 second behind the image.
I also don't mind paying $2 to rent a movie.
>I wasn't trolling
Ok then
>Having the box and manual is just as important as having the game itself
I get now that you were talking about owning the game as it was released, I agree that just buying the disc and nothing else barely counts as a good purchase.
>it's not just the controller, to also the screen you use.
Emulating in a CRT is a thing, not too popular but doable on PC and that's the only reason to own a Wii (though you have more limited controller options there), with all Sony consoles it's just so much more convenient to just get a PS1/2, I think other retro consoles might be held back depending on what video output you want to use, getting into modding consoles is a nice thing to do if you are an enthusiast but someone that just wants to play some Genesis games? That's a stretch.
>yes there is
this is as much of a problem as you want it to be, people will be shit at games with or without save states.
>lays
>diet shasta
must be rough being subhuman
Authentic EarthBound cartridge for the Super Nintendo. I still haven't played it.
Because gamecube kids are awful while dreamcast bros are cool people.
Tiananmen Square replica
Dude, i have a 2006 price guide for games
Samson was fucking 32 complete in box
You have no fucking idea of pre 2010 collecting. Panzer Dragoon Saga was 100 to 150 CIB tops and at the time, that was EXPENSIVE to us.
>only Buddhism is against materialism
Read the Bible
What's your SNES setup like? Do you use an OSSC or a Retrotink or anything like that?
Not gonna read this
Panzer Dragoon Saga is still only $60 if you buy the Japanese version
>rarely is it ever out of love for a hobby, most of the time the people that do this do it to look """cool""" and to impress their fellow basedchuggers
not to be a "not all" faggot but I'm hermit as fuck and I got a fuck huge 5-6th Gen collection. That guy you always see reposting his gamecube collection? Fucking childs play compared to me. I just don't care for humble bragging. Except in this example.
Fuck I forgot the genesis does RGB natively, well there's the whole sound chip thing with it I guess.
>female friend is a fan of Ace Attorney, recommend her Ghost Trick
>send her an emulator and the rom file, months go by
>ask her what she thought of the game
>said she never played it because she would rather support the developers and buy the iOS version
YOU'RE NOT SUPPORTING SHIT, ITS A 12 YEAR OLD GAME AND THAT PORT IS YEARS OLD AAAAAAAAAAA
She's literally never used an emulator, ever.
to be fair I'm an AAfag and still haven't touched Ghost Trick yet. It's probably one of the last DS title I don't own that I would REALLY want. Well that and the first two Etrian Odyssey games but i owned those at one point i just traded them in back in the day because i was a dumb manchild.
Is it autistic to rebuy games you sold?
i didn't say it NEVER was out of love for a hobby, i just said it was rarely the case
I'm only collecting Kirby games when it comes to "the whole set" because Kirby is my favorite franchise. Still 6 games away but I already own the rare stuff like DL3 and Kira Kira Kids. Anything else it's "I enjoy this game and want to own it" or just games I accumulated over the years.
I'll never get the "Every game on X system out there" fags.
The only people I know who use emulators are Jews playing on MacBooks
Depends on why you sold them. If you'll probably end up selling them again then yes.
Imagine tracking down an entire atari 2600 library, some madman must have done it already
I sold a copy of Rule Of Rose back in 2011 to CEX for around 40 bucks. I know I want to hit myself too.
Atari 2600 probably isn't as bad as it used to be, since like some user mentioned earlier that bubble has already bursted.
On the subject of Kirby, just 5 years ago shit like Pinball Land and Block Ball were dirt cheap, but now they're $50. I kinda regret not grabbing them back then, but I'm not grabbing them right away now because that's absurd. I think it's just the entire 1980s-onwards games that have absurd value now. Like why the fuck is SMB+Duck Hunt $20 when it is one of the most sold games of all time? Make no fucking sense to me.
How could this happen?
>not gonna read this
Well fuck you I tried
The pussies are the ones that care when someone says nigger online
he never cleaned his toaster
It was about 11 years ago I sold my N64 collection. I had just moved into my own house at the time and lost my job a couple months later. I didnt have much else of value at the time.
How are N64 prices? I see PS2 games going for $100.
this is a loser cope. Being passionless=/=being happy
10+ consoles on daisy-chained power strips. This guy was asking for it and the sad part is all those games went up in flames due to pure negligence.
this is coming from somebody quite far into the hobby: just get a nice N64 + Everdrive. trust me, it's not worth collecting anymore with how insane prices have gotten for most things.
Earthbound is the quintessential JRPG for numales who don't like JRPGs. Trash franchise that spawned nothing but trash.
I sure do ain't a trust fund kid you retard
I used to edit movies and tv shows into music videos and increase their quality as much as I could via avisynth for fun back in the day and as a direct consequence I developed an involuntary ability to notice every flaw and inferiority in video quality. As a result everything below BR quality looks like shit to me. Even streaming on services like Netflix looks like complete ass in comparison to an uncompressed BR copy.
I know a guy that paid 300 for a game called Lockjaw. I didn't know Atari games could still get that high out of meme stuff like Happy Birthday, those certain bootleg double carts, games like Pepsi Blasters that never got released to the public etc.
Buy reproduction carts and save a lot of money. Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart 64 are not worth $40
So much this
>DOOMfags
Who cares
N64 isn't THAT bad in regards to only collecting the good games. The most expensive N64 stuff are garbage rental exclusives, color variants of common games, and shovelware
>Read the Bible
Did any Christian clergy members ever read the Bible? Because looking at Cathedrals, Churches, Vatican City, all the Christian monuments around the world, and the generous tithes they gleefully collect, Christian churches seem very fond of materialism. Hell just look at the picture you posted.
>guitars
I'm in multiple bands in different tunings requiring different intonation requiring multiple guitars. Plus having backups when one is in the shop.
Being SEETHING is not an argument.
>needing material things to be passionate
Everything you own can be lost in an instant. You can't take it with you when you die. Sooner or later it will degrade and decay, and it will be lost forever. Never get too attached to material things to the point where a fire can destroy your entire livelihood.
Shit like this is why I put consoles I'm not using into storage/leave them unplugged. You really, really really do not need 10+ consoles plugged in at once ever.
Oh jesus. I paid $280 for Kirby Kira Kira Kids but I don't think I could ever pull out that cash for multiple games.
How does Bomberman the Second Attack play on repro? perfect? I know it's had emulation issues and that alongside its short print is why it's so expensive, but my curiosity isn't $120 curious.
>he hasn't been to /vr/
Woah boy if you thought Yea Forums could be autistic.
You're absolutely right. Jesus called those people the Synagogue of Satan. People who only cared about materialism, aestheticism, and looking more holy than other people.
it really isn't too badfor n64 but anymore it's worth just getting the console + everdrive for most systems.
>Jesus called those people the Synagogue of Satan
/pol/ told me he was talking about Jews, not those other people.
I remember seeing one of those really famous televangelists (Pat Robertson or Jim Baker or another one of those guys) trying to explain to a caller why Jesus would definitely approve of the private jet he owned. It was amazing.
/pol/ is retarded. No one on /pol/ has actually read the Bible and they think the Jews of 2000 years ago are exactly the same as the Jews of today. Half of them think Jesus was a blonde-haired blue-eyed man.
/pol/ regularly talks about murdering people they find undesirable and how any form of altruism is liberal commie horseshit, so I wouldn't take their interpretations of Biblical passages too seriously.
>forces you to emulate or buy the japanese version of one of the best GC games
fuck I'm glad I got this when Blockbuster was going under. Path Of Radiance too but that is way more common comparatively speaking.
How do you dumbasses let stuff like this happen? I have discs that have existed for over half of my lifespan that I can still regularly pop into my PS2 and play to this day. I was playing my copy of PSX Chrono Trigger yesterday ffs.
I know the passage of time will "eventually" cause my discs to die but simply taking care of them and not leaving them out of their cases like an idiot has kept most of not all of them looking like they did when I bought them (Some used games sadly have some wear on them from prior owners). I'm not gonna lie and say this won't happen to me because I don't fucking know but I will say that the people experiencing it probably treated their games like shit.
Sega CD and Saturn games were made with no regard for longevity.
What fucking lesson? Don't collect things? Don't have a hobby?
Look, I get the whole "Yea Forums hates video games" meme is prominent here, but this is fucking absurd. You people are genuinely retarded.
The lesson is don't waste your money on shitty games from the 80s and 90s you'll never play that can be lost in a freak accident like a house fire.
When the fuck did Yea Forums become so fucking lame?
late 2016
The lesson is fire prevention safety
on it
>expecting autistic hoarders to know basic safety
at least he didn't die in the fire
DOOMfags mostly.
2012.
Most posters here nowadays are too young to have experienced an era prior to the PS3/360/Wii one, collecting means nothing to them because they grew up different.
Collecting is the worst form of hobby.
Too bad.
No they don't. They just spend until their credit cards are maxed out.
kek I collect vinyls but I don't buy every shitty ass record I come across and I certainly don't leave them out in the open where they can be damaged or lost in a fire. cope harder
2004
How do you store them, user?
Point is, there are zero physical games that last forever, and countless drm free digital games that will.
And shitposting on Yea Forums is...?
Fireproof metal and glass cabinet. I'm not storing first-edition mint Goodbye Yellow Brick Road on an Ikea shelf
Literally a much better use of your time
I know you're just shitposting, but imagine unironically thinking that having a hobby is some type of contest where you need to one-up everyone.
>tfw idiots don’t understand why daisy chaining power strips is an issue and assume everything is fine when something bad doesn’t happen immediately
I wonder how many of these big game room setups that are in photos are using daisy chained power strips instead of a single surge protector with a bunch of outlets.
I have a SNES from when it came out and a number of retro consoles I bought for cheap second-hand shops later. This was 2010 or so before prices exploded, I stopped caring then. I would never pay more than ten dollars for something I can emulate on a PC, and I've never understood hipsters.
I also won't bother plugging on my SNES and having it take space in my living room if I can put any number of games into the SNES mini and play that plugged to a phone charger. Maybe it's because I was alive back then and I don't feel I have anything to prove. Who knows.
It shouldn't matter as long as you don't exceed 1850W on a single wall outlet. It's just that daisy-chaining power strips encourages this and before you know it you're sucking 3000+
Imagine not trying to one-up everyone. Never gonna make it.
fuck my disc 2 is like that as well
I'd much rather have incredible masterpieces of architecture like cathedrals and churches honestly. Why bother feeding the poor when they'll probably die in a month or two anyway, instead of building breath-taking monuments?
Are you retarded?
Cope
Same reason old WoW fags are so[y] screaming over WoW classic:
NOSTALGIA IS INCREDIBLY POWERFUL,people place great value to things from their past, specially if it meant something for them at a personal level, hell, there's people who make a living off people nostalgia, see the "pawn stars" jews or the star wars jews
Get a job and have sex
Abe is that you?
holy shit a complete ps3 collection
Reminder that catholics are not christians
Flashcarts are not emulators you donut.
>Not having both at the same time
Disposable income plus being a dumbass. I would know, I've been there.
It's never been good.
kek
why did ps3 suck so bad
all of 7th gen sucked, enough that i don't have a single 7th gen console
Not the person you quoted.
I'm personally have a regular old ass console to use my flash cart. It's the very first snes I've ever owned since I was like 8
>very convincing fakes
it's pretty easy to spot a fake assuming you aren't a mental midget.
I'll need something inbetween, my television only supports HDMI.
It's an amazing set otherwise, KS8000. Got it when it dropped to $1,400.
