Static videogames do not age
Only you age

More like vinegar

Yes retard that's what the term means

Still better than GTA V

Here's a game that aged way worse than this

Attached: grand_theft_auto_san_andreas-3785649.jpg (469x664, 124K)

GTA was always mediocre garbage.

HL1 is too gamey for my tastes. Kills the immersion, thankfully 2 fixed that.

what an awful opinion.

game actually got better because control schemes evolved from going from 1 stick to 2 sticks

There is no such thing as a good or bad opinion. Please stop being rude.

>too gamey
What the fuck do you even mean?

take that back bitch

Only SA and V

This

Man, it's unreal how the enemy AI still holds up despite how much time has passed. Despite knowing how simple they are after watching countless videos about them, whenever I play FEAR again there's always a few moments where I feel intimidated and outsmarted.

Honestly this

Emperor didn't age bad either,

this and red alert still hold up to this very day

Any Yea Forums boomers here?

Chaos Theory is still great

Attached: boss wtf.png (1213x794, 612K)

That was never a good game to begin with.

Red Alert 2*

Never got into the red alert games but TS was one of the very first games I ever played
That and StarCraft were so fucking good when I was a kid

The problem with post half-life 2 AI is that doesn't have maps or animations that compliment each other. Every single encounter with the replica forces work with the scripts given to the AI and the AI just plays them out based on the situation. It's incredibly competent compared to Half-life 2 where the only thing the AI really does is placement based on class and shooting while strafing.

Dishonored did well

System Shock was good game.

I was playing this earlier in Kiwami 2 and I have no idea wtf I'm doing

SS2 is better

If I can have sex with a video game, I want to do this

Sometimes I think I'm the only person on earth who thought HL2 was a massive disappointment
Am I just a contrarian or was HL1 really just a much better game?

A game can seem worse over time. You can only judge its quality depending on other games that exist at the same time. More games can release that do the same thing better, or dull the experience with overexposure.

SA aged great. It looked like garbage when it came out so it doesn't make much difference if it looks like rotten garbage now.

No one ever liked it for the graphics.

>"Everybody, report in!"
>"Shut the FUCK up!"
Kino.

Shut the fuck up reddit zoomer

All the 3D GTA's aged like milk. They were truly products of their time.

It was a better game.
HL2 just couldn't hold up.

What kind of faggy taste do you have?

Half life is fucking gold and if you think otherwise your opinion doesn't matter.

No, every new year I keep seeing it getting lower and lower on people's top 100 games of all time list. People either were really blinded by the physics gimmicks or never played the original game. Half life 2 feels like a retcon or a reboot of the previous game, it's a great game but it definitely got too much praise all over the internet for some reason.

>2 is less gamey
It has a telekinetic gun

Attached: file.png (960x720, 789K)

I don't think that many people view it as a disappointment, but it doesn't feel like it holds up as gracefully as the original did, which I see get bought up far more often nowadays than its sequel does. The best thing to come out of HL2 in hindsight was the Source engine.

It's still good. Next example.

has baldur's gate and bg2 held up?

It was never good

Opinions are subjective but I also can think that yours is subjectively shit

Different flavor, both great.

Still the funnest PvP RTS in my opinion. I still enjoy campaign mode, too.

Attached: VcnvvYf_390x400_2x-0.jpg (780x1093, 155K)

This. If a game seemed better at the time, then that was only because of novelty, which is never an inherent quality.

> Pic unrelated
Now, Quake 3 arena on the other hand...

>the only person on earth
Yea Forums has taken a hard anti-HL2 turn in the past few years, if you haven't noticed

Sup.

Attached: goldeneyecover.jpg (767x431, 53K)

I played most of the old D&D games for the first time a couple of years ago.

PST, BG and BG2 still hold up on story and worldbuilding alone. IWD/IWD2 are alright, but aren't as good. ToEE is fun if you love D&D3.5, but otherwise I wouldn't bother.

Obligatory

Is this the most perfect game ever made? Or is it RCT2?

*crack
*sip
"Now THAT was a great game."

Quake 3 was great, though.

I don't agree.

There are some games that are still good which have been surpassed just because of technical advances. Doesn't mean they're not good, just means your standards have been raised.

Crysis is a fun game if you play it right, but it isn't really _impressive_ anymore in the way it used to be.

What are some other RTS games with great campaigns?

Homeworld, CoH, and World in Conflict

playing that with better controls is comedy gold.
