So what "brother Laz" has done is try to "balance" Diablo 2.
Hint: Diablo 2 was never fucking balanced and was never meant to be. It was just a game to test their netcode, they admitted this when WoW was in alpha (a year after Diablo 2 came out) - it's just a fucking game to test netcode and nothing more.

The only reason it's even playable online is because people bot, get banned and buy more copies from Blizzard so it makes them moeny

what I appreciated about Median XL is it only required to install one file and it's immediately ready to play instead of relying on side loading weird DLL files and other magic tricks in order to make it work. the newest Median XL iterations are doing just that. the ideal way to simply play MXL is to play the original BrotherLaz 2012 one or the latest ultimative available on moddb

How are whirlwind builds in this mod? Whirlwind barb/spin2win is my favorite way to play ARPGs, it's too bad every game that lets me do it nerfs the fuck out of it to the point of unviability, literally only Diablo 3 has a Whirlwind that is actually usable for all levels of play.

It's actually pretty terrible in that a lot more OP builds are out there but ultimately because it's mostly based on RNG needs because of gear checks, it's pretty much like trying to solo players8 hell as a naked necro. You can do it but it's annoying

everything being OP is legitimate way to balance the game, which is why Median XL is so attractive - you can make any class into anything you want really. any class can become a caster, summoner or pure melee if you care hard enough, and there is plenty of bullshit bosses to test your ideas

How is that a good thing? Classes are supposed to be different one another... This stupid idea of "do what you want" is what made games like Skyrim lose replayability value

Median just has gear check bosses for every boss. Imagine if for example, Duriel was the type of boss you'd fight each time. Specific strategies and all are different for each boss

there are differences how characters act in their respective roles - barbarian and sorceress have different synergies and utility spells even if they both opt in for either caster or melee role
