Would you let your kids play games?
What kind of games?
And at what age?
Would you let your kids play games?
Pure hypothetical of course since in order to have kids you need to have intercourse and for that you need to have a girl.
The masses weren't ready for technology and the internet
Vidya bowling is a million times more enjoyable than IRL bowling.
answer the goddamn question
Yes, not in public on most occasions.
Depends on the age, I wouldn't be very strict. I would try to curate games I think they would enjoy.
Eh, any age? Just have to make sure they aren't playing too much. BACK INNA DAY my parents only let us play 1 and a half hours a day. 30 minutes before homework, and one hour after. (or maybe just one hour after homework, I dont remember).
I seriously cringe whenever I see a family out for dinner and the kid(s) are just on their iPads. Apparently thats just normal these days but I can never get over it, its so fucking sad man. And I don't even consider myself someone who values family very much.
I would probably let my kids play tycoon games or something, oldschool RCT games although im not sure if they would like the old graphics and isometric style
I'm genuinely concerned for kids growing up through this clown timeline. Was watching my nephew a few days ago and he asked if he could borrow my laptop. Then he couldn't figure out how to use it because it didn't have a touch screen. The kid is 8.
Sure, why not? I played vidya since before I knew how to input the DOS commands to execute them.
I actually asked my mom a couple of years ago if she ever objected me and my brother playing violent games. She said no, that she knew that we knew games were games and that vidya violence wasn't real world violence. She let us play whatever, as long as we paid for the games and the consoles with our own allowance money. I don't see why I shouldn't do the same with my kids.
That being said, I would probably make sure to turn vidya into a bonding experience, try to find games to benefit my and my hypothetical offsprings' relationship. I'll do what so many parents nowadays refuse to do and actually sit down with my kids and offer actual parenting, explaining controversial things instead of just expecting the entertainment industry to teach them those topics for me. I wish to be a reliable source of education for my future kids.
I'd let them play whatever they want.
I'd let them start playing games when they ask me for games.
Then I'll take away their games if they don't obey me.
I'd let them play anything that isn't gacha or money-grubbing trash. They could only stick with AAA western crap or niche weeb slop for all I care. I won't be all "YOU'rE HAVING FUN THE WRONG WAY" like some of you autist.
Yes, but I'd never give them a phone or tablet because they're cancerious devices that are used to take up time and attention for small pointless tasks which lead to almost ADHD-lite levels of attention problems. A real game has a set purpose and goals which when achieved actually teach reasoning/reactions while also teaching language skills and in some cases actual information is taught. All of these are helpful in some form, but like with sweets and other shit, allowing them to binge isn't productive to life so it'd be a balancing act.
No
None
Never
WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY
He's playing BOWLING at the BOWLING ALLEY
What did you expect him to do? Play tennis? Now that'd be just plain silly.
Not in their more formative years, no. I'd much rather have a bunch of fun outdoorsy shit for them to create great childhood memories with. Pool, water slide, tire swing, tree house, basketball hoop, fishing, camping, shit like that. Vidya should come later.
this really says a lot about our society...
He's just planning his strats for his next turn, obviously. Very big brained kid. Probably will go pro.
>Having kids
>tfw laptop is a touchscreen hybrid
>kid made a mistake and learned from it
WE'RE FUCKING DOOMED
>asking Yea Forums of all places about parenting
You just wanted to have a "FUCKING ZOOMERS" thread, but knew you couldn't get away with posting as obvious as the Fortnite_dance_class.webm so you had to be more subtle about it.
Dropping a tablet/smart phone in your kids hand before 11-12 and basically letting them drool all over it all day for years because you don't want to deal with raising them is one of the worst things you could do to a kid desu.
Nowhere did he say the kid learned anything from it. It sounds more like he explicitly had to be taught how to use a laptop without the kid himself being intelligent enough to try things and see what works, which it should be capable of at 8.
But the bigger problem is actually that the parents didn't bother teaching their kid a) how to use a mouse and b) how to learn things on its own. And yes, this signifies that we are doomed to some extent. Just look at the whiny zoomers who cry because they have to do their job.
Already have a kid, he plays games, we play games co-op. All good
I bet your boomer parents said the same thing about you when you were 8
holy shit listen to yourself
I was getting some take away a few weeks ago and some kid was playing on his dads iphone and the dad took it away at one point. The kid starts losing his shit so the dad just gives it up. I guess i'm hitting peak boomer because this generation feels fucked constantly needing to distracted, can't even sit still for 5 minutes without some ad being pumped into your brain.
I honestly probably wouldn't want my kid to but it seems impossible not to so i'd probably try to moderate it so he doesn't turn into a complete shithead.
Boomer kids still played outside and had no online-games. That's also the last generation before smartphones.
You have to realize tech is currently in the stage cars were ~20 years ago. The average person lost all ability to comprehend it were just a few years before most could understand and repair it themselves.
My nephew has autism and adhd and loses his fucking shit if he doesn't get his tablet or whatever he wants. Like full blown meltdown. Makes me scared about having kids myself one day because it seems like such an ordeal, if I did though I'd be strict as fuck to minimize this instant need for gratification that 99% zoomers have.
I'm actually an educationist you troglodytes. I know my shit unlike you armchair pedagogs.
kids are all underage faggots. Imagine being underage in fucking 2019, little retards
my daughter loves roblox
One problem is that people need to learn that being bored is perfectly normal and can be a healthy behavior. Of course, kids these days grow up with the internet so that kind of unmitigated exposure to tech just to shut the kid up can cause Screen Dependency Disorder and Internet Gaming Disorder.
What's funny is the kind of shit that happens when that unmitigated exposure actually affects the kid. People are getting mad because Peppa Pig is free on Youtube Kids and watching so much of it is causing children to develop British accents. It's pretty lame shit but I want to know how the psychs in companies are going maximum jew in kid's videogames and kid's videos to turn them into nicely trained future consumers.
Not until at least 10 and then with limits on playtime.
I wonder what the people behind the cameras are like
gta & co games where real products give you buffs. Pavlov'ing them with a association of the product with a positive effect.
Internet addiction and online multiplayer games are a huge problem.
>no smartphones
>no internet access for them
>no consoles or computers in their bedrooms
I think it's impossible to raise kids properly these days. Good thing I will never have any.
I would make him play my hacked wii on a CRT and make him play all the classics
>emulation
>your kids
no
never have kids, if you do never let their friends stay the the night, the little hoes will rape you while you sleep and black mail you for robux
>educationist on Yea Forums
More like sex offender
I installed bunch of games on grandma's pc so my little cousins could get occupied with the computer but instead the use them as a pretext to come over and hang out with them, like they set up a password on computer and granny has to call me because they "forgot" the pass
Why do you want to hang out with your little cousins, user?
Once IRL I almost killed someone while playing bowling.
That can't and won't happen in vidya.
