This whole "multicultural wonderland" setting that a bunch of newer Western games have is really one of the most boring settings I have ever seen in games. It has no identity, it's just a mish mash of random cultural icons and silly looking characters with random accents.
Compare that with the Solaris of Warframe since we are looking at Games as a Service. They have a consistent design: augmented humans. They have a fixed theme: a chain gang but in space.

Western devs always hire the most repugnant and ugly mutts they can find for "diverse" characters. Japan does it right.
