I'm not 30 is shit, DS had plenty of 60fps games and that had the lowest res of pretty much any 3D console. In fact you could credibly make the argument that the console was designed to run games at 60fps first and foremost just like older consoles.

Isn't the touchpad fantastic for shooters albeit tiring? Being able to adjust minor and major movements on the fly compared to the shit stick. The most prominent game that would really love a second stick would be monster hunter.

The only snoy console I ever had was a PS3 and that was well into the current generation of consoles. 3D was the stupidest fucking idea and I can't believe Nintendo don't get more shit for it and it just sort of gets ignored.

It was a purely graphical gimmick that offered nothing new. At a stretch a select few games gave you slightly more sense of distance which could theoretically impact playability but that's nebulous as fuck. Yet it took up some of the systems processing power pretty much permanently, even if you switched it off the devs already had to make the game with it being on in mind. Not only that, it massively inflated the cost of the system. It was such a worthless gimmick that they even released major hardware models that didn't include it as a feature and as someone whose launch 3DS broke and bought a 2DS XL to replace it, it's not a feature I've missed even once.

What a fucking waste of everyones time just for stupid inane graphics bullshit on an already weak handheld. Great library, solid system physically and feature wise. But good god the 3D wasted so much potential and was an all round fucking terrible idea.

It’s got a hefty catalogue of exclusives that likely won’t be ported. I’d buy one used and hack it just in case.

New 3DS XL. You can go with the non-XL model if you want smaller screens and a more portable form factor, but both feature a faster processor, a second analog stick (kinda) in the C stick, and only these two models potentially come with IPS screens. But whether or not you get them is a bit of a gamble.

New 2DS XL is fine but the build quality is probably the worst out of the entire DS line and the hinge is really flimsy.

The 3DS circle pad is easily the comfiest analog input I've used on a handheld. Slippery convex nubs on something that small just doesn't work.

The 3DS kinda sucks, i got one for free and hacked it, the entire 'library' of good games fits on a 32gb sd card. Main thing i use it for is twilightmenu for DS games since my R4 died.

DQ VIII was my first DQ game. Am from Europe, and DQ VIII was the first DQ game released here. After playing that game I decided to try older ones. I played some of them multiple times and/or more than one version (for example, I played fan translated V on SNES emulator, fan translated PS2 version and DS version)

There are a handful of games which only work on the n2ds/n3ds consoles. There are a handful of games which are explicitly enhanced for the n3ds/n2ds consoles. The better performance of the n3ds/n2ds can be forced on for all games if you have a hacked console (which you definitely should).

The orginial 2ds (the non hinge one) is built like a goddamn tank, but the screen is noticeably lower quality. The original 3ds is pretty slick but I always felt like the backlight is worse then the n3ds.

The switch is definitely an improvement on almost everything except battery life, but you can't have high resolution and good battery life. That's just a limitation of technology right now.
