Why doesn't Earthbound have a run button?

youtube.com/watch?v=ulBYfJ4M5ks LMAO AT THIS FUCKING FAGGOT

>Game gives you a bike
>Shortly thereafter, Paula joins your party, making the bike useless

BRAVA EARTHBOUND.

BRAVA

And what the fuck was the point of the condiment system?

>Oh man, waste a slot to carry a packet of salt instead of just having another bag of dragonite!

When I think about it, this game actually kind of does suck. For an RPG, it has no replay value to speak of

>99% linear with no side quests
>No party organization to give certain characters priority over others
>No unique equipment builds that reward smarter thinking, not harder thinking
>No way to truly test your characters skills with the lack of a new game+ feature

Would have been nice to have, but this is give or take:
>Alternate party members
>Alternate endings
>Monster/boss arena

At the end of the day, it's still a VIDEO GAME and not an "interactive experience". You don't cut Gone Home any slack(the hipsters that love Earthbound LOVE Gone Home as well), neither should you with Earthbound.

Reminder Undertale is for faggots (and don't give me that MUH MOTHER 3, I just played it and it still has a lot of the same problems as EB)

Damn dude. I managed to snatch it for only $500 the last year. Looks great on my shelf. :)

Damn "dude" I managed to snatch it from coolroms for free and I can play it everywhere! fucking idiots

Not everyone is a pirating scumbag.

Shit thread.

Are you actually Rockcock64? Is this what you do, while waiting for your train?

Yeah because buying an overpriced used game from over 20 years ago from some sweaty virgin for $1,000 really supports Nintendo

>falling for so y bait
>feeling the need to justify piracy
Kys

How many games, much less JRPGs produced by small studios, released in or prior to 1994 had:
>NG+
>Alternate Endings
>Fight arenas
>Extensive equipment systems
>Genuinely substantive side quests

Is this the best Gen Z can do for video game criticism? Saying retro games are bad for not having modern features?

>I’m nootrulll!
Classic.

You're not wrong, but Earthbound is a bad game.

Mother 3 was better.

what did rockcock64 do

Mother 3 is from 2006 and also lack a lot of those features

But it's still my favourite game

I'd love to see you pick up a single RPG made before 1990.

I don't care if it was an objectively "bad" game, it made me feel like I was a kid again. I played it last year, and the memories of booting the game up and getting into the little world within it isn't something I thought I could experience ever again. There's a reason this game is popular, it elicits a feeling.

M1 is the best (witg guide)

Good. Fuck run buttons.
JRPG's are meant to be comfy.

Is he still financially supporting that girl friend of his he doesn’t fuck?

I'm a hipster faggot then, because I enjoy all 3 games you trashed. Whenever I need to relax from being the coolest dude around and I don't feel like playing another game of Alpha Centauri or starting up another cRPG, I like casual carefree games like the ones you mentioned.

Based BRAVA pasta

Pretty much what this user said. One can have Earthbound as his favourite game while acknowledging all of its flaws because it provides a unique experience,
which to me, encapsulates playing videogames. There's quite nothing else like Mother despite people always comparing other games to it without even knowing what makes them so loved

stop posting your shit video faggot

I don't personally like it that much, but this post is hella dumb.

Inorite? Shit isn't even in 3D and there's no online co-op? Man, what were they THINKING!? I too expect my games from a bygone era to have features popularized after its release. I mean, we're living in a society!

I think itori confirmed the bike was literally a troll item.

EB was not as popular in the 90s as other SNES JRPGs. I hated it as a kid because it was too annoying to move shit around in your inventory. Now that I see a bunch of Twitter verified game journos saying they have nostalgia for the game, I know this game is being pushed on us. I really gave it an honest try replaying it and it's just slow boring garbage, forcing you to wander around from NPC to NPC listening to nothing important and teasing items. Even Mother 3 acknowledges how tiresome EB was and fixed a bunch of UI issues.
