I think it's more of "the run animation is like three years old from before it even had a name." I doubt redoing the run animation this early is high on the to-do list. It would be best to redo that at then end.

He uses vector animation for all of his stuff. For sex scences it's somewhat acceptable because the body moves in back-and-forth motions, which is something vector animation useful for.
