NWN

I don't care for multiplayer but apparently they are still updating the core game, so is it worth getting?

At $4 USD, I think it is. I'm waiting for a really good deal on the expansions before I go all in on those. I accidentally got it at $6 thinking that it was going to stay there for a while. Every now and then, you get burned, though. Live and learn.

Did the recent release revive the modding scene?

Might aswell given that modules work fine and PRC mod pack is finally out for it

They're incrementally updating it. Last update was in November. But if you use extensions and plugins you wont be able to use them in the new version.
Modding scene or what was left of it is now split.

Darkness Over Daggerford is 10/10, Pirates is pretty chill, Wyvern is "ok-ish", avoid Infinite Dungeons it's just a roguelike endless grind.

Reminder that they spent all the dev money on incompetent community members with an agenda.

pastebin.com/uuTxwrsY

I unironically don't give a shit about your MP drama, I only got it for single player.

Then you unironically gave money to fund MP drama and got a game that hasn't changed in 15 years.

>and got a game that hasn't changed in 15 years
But it did, it has UI scaling, improved shaders and some QoL changes.
Also it's the only way to play an actually finished version of Darkness Over Daggerford.

You can still get Darkness over Daggerford for free on the vault, or it won't work with EE?

The original is unfinished, did you even read the changelog for the EE version of DoD?
Ossian Studios drastically overhauled it and also added new content to it.

Stupid idiot, what QoL changes? Stretched pixels UI and extra contrast with terrible performance. Just use mods and reshade.

DoD was already finished they just redid a bit of it and added some extra sounds. Man you're dumb, Arelith thanks you for donating to their development.

>did you even read the changelog for the EE version of DoD
>Ossian Studios drastically overhauled it
Apparently you didn't read it.

Nah. They basically take the ruleset and adapt so it plays like a slow, clunkier version of Diablo. Just play Dark Alliance/Champions of Norrath, more fun and more honest about what it is.

You clearly didn't read shit faggot ass nigger get bent and raped.

You too ;)

It's right here.
ossianstudios.com/downloads/DoD_Enhanced_v2.0_Change_Log.txt

Most of it is dumb shit like this
>* Fixed xp exploit from occurring when aborting Astriel's conversation
>* Removed random treasure from Gray Oozes
Sure worth $10, a sucker is born every minute I guess.
>* Added extra fear-resisting items in Daggerford stores
>* Added 15+ NPC and placeable descriptions

Irongrom has been working with Ossian Studios so it's obvious Arelith has fingers in everything now.

>Shitload of new voice acting
>Full CD worth of new music
>Added Class-specific treasures
>Fixed and overhauled merchants
>Fixed broken Skill-checks
>Added Travel resting
>Fixed Trolls not being D&D correct
>Fixed broken cutscenes that damaged you with no way to mitigate
>Added new items
>Fixed various map bugs
>Added over 15 new NPCs and fixed shitload of text bugs
>Shitload of bugfixes

And all that is in the first 1/3 of the changelog, I won't even bother listing more because all this alone makes it massively worth buying in my eyes, get raped by niggers with AIDS kiddo.

>some sounds
>shit ton of typo fixes
Worth every dime, right?

I love how ya ignored everything that matters you subhuman pirate scum

Where's HotU? I remember people saying that was the best expansion.

It never went anywhere? I don't get your question

It doesn't matter, it's a short adventure and you have a free version which isn't pirated but released by the original devs.

I'll give you that they did more updates for DoD than for any of the original campaigns, also that you act like an angry 12 year old. It's not worth the price of a new copy of the game plus the price of DLC when there are so many other better games and free modules out there.

Don't mind me, keep shilling.

And yet I keep doing what I want with you unable to do shit about it, funny how the world works eh?

>giving Beamdog money ever
Just pirate it user.

Under what premise do you think anyone actually set out to stop you from being stupid?

If that were even possible the world sure would be a better place. Alas it's not but we can still mock you for giving money to corrupt profiteers, parasites that kill their game communities.

To me it sounds like you're the disgusting parasites, pirating hard work of absolutely BASED devs that dab on old grandpas like you lmao

It's not on Steam

It's part of the EE by default you retard, same with SoU

>pirate an online game
fucking retard

Yeah their rereleased game flopped hard and now they're desperately trying to port it to platforms that have no interest in it.

Nobody should pirate the game because the old version still works better.

store.steampowered.com/app/704450/Neverwinter_Nights_Enhanced_Edition/

All the content of Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition:
The original Neverwinter Nights campaign: Find yourself at the center of intrigue, betrayal, and dark magic in Neverwinter Nights. Journey through dangerous cities, monster filled dungeons and deep into uncharted wilderness in search of the cure for a cursed plague ravaging the city of Neverwinter.
Two expansion packs:
Shadows of Undrentide: Another adventure begins in Shadows of Undrentide! Charged by your master to recover four ancient artifacts, travel from the Silver Marches to unravel mysteries of a long-dead magical civilization.
Hordes of the Underdark: Continue the adventure started in Shadows of Undrentide and journey into the ever-more bizarre and hostile depths of Undermountain to challenge a gathering evil.

This game is terrible on so many fundamental levels and was a massive step down from Baldur's Gate, no amount of bells & whistles is going to make it any less of a turd.

>Neverwinter Nights
>online game
What did the Beamdog shill mean by this?

Attached: 1536032647345.jpg (699x312, 85K)

It has been part of the bundle for 15 years.

On one hand they're saying they don't care about the shit show of dying MP servers on the other hand they want to use it as reason not to pirate.

>beamdog edition

when is Fallout getting enhanced

I tried to play that dreadful shit and I had to constantly right click to change what I wanted to do

Welcome to classic 90's point & click controls. Context sensitive wasn't invented yet.

The game plays fine with the high resolution patch (2x scaling 1080p looks great in particular), don't be a faggot and just play it. It's only like a 10 hour game, if that.

Glad to see they really revived the pw scene. This is beyond all expectations.

Attached: revived_pw_servers.png (1184x859, 133K)

>Total Players: 332
Is this supposed to be bad for a niche boomer game?

It was over 500 before they enhanced it so you tell me.

Proof?

No. Only merit NWN:EE actually has is for the multiplayer side and backend, but even that hasn't actually materialized in anything tangible.

Sure got a time machine to 2017?

So you have no proof, good to know you're full of shit like an ugly old as boomer

>dat feel when I already have the classic version on GOG
Not to mention selling the modules separately is scummy as fuck.

Could be worse. They could have released an absolute flop that got destroyed by critics and players alike vowing to never play it.

Attached: atlasflopped.png (719x86, 51K)

>They basically take the ruleset and adapt so it plays like a slow, clunkier version of Diablo

what? explain what they changed

This is not an MMORPG, though. Few dozen players is about as much as a popular world would get during peak time when everyone logged in to do their stories.

It has all the same modules as the old version, the DLC's are for the extra ones which were never included in the GOG version.

Also, it's pretty fucking obvious that you never actually tried playing the game. You're just another digital collector fag that feels good about "having" it, with no plans to ever play the fucking game.

How would I prove it? I can go to the beamdog site and screenshot today's players, I can't screenshot players from the past before EE released.

>streamers move on the next big thing
>oh no no, why did our shitty made game lose players

No it isn't only a few dozen. More like a few hundred players.

When you present an argument, you need to back it up with evidence, seeing as you have none that means you have no argument, go away.

>their game is a total failure yet still has almost 20 times as many players as this dead game

>Also, it's pretty fucking obvious that you never actually tried playing the game.
based on what?

Attached: amashing.jpg (165x178, 6K)

Any /SinfarBoys/ here?

You're a fucking moron. Come back when you learn how to carry on a real discussion and not expect people to time travel.

At the very least based on the fact that the original doesn't even work on modern GPU's and Windows 10.

It absolutely does, though. Unless something has change din the last two years. GOG version does, at least.

Sounds like you're mad that you have no evidence, get raped boomer, this is zoomzoom territory now grandpa.

Current minute stats for other servers using the old version.

Figure out the duplicates yourself, but you should come up to about 250 players using the 1.69 Diamond version compared to 330 on the Enhanced version.

Can you provide evidence that you're not legally retarded? No? Well I think that settles it then.

I liked NWN2 a lot. Will I like NWN EE?

>Ad hominem
Lmao get bent

What about 2 did you like?

It definitely works. There was a bug with nVidia cards last year where robes and wings wouldn't render properly but they fixed it quickly.

For the same change you get a slew of other new graphics and performance bugs with the Enhanced Edition not working right on modern hardware.

Did they ever get the higher resolution UI working correctly? It seems like a very doable fix when you have access to the goddamn source code.

God you sound like an insufferable faggot, i Hope you get AIDS.

No. Any hope that NWN EE had went out the window when Beamdog didn't listen to community people telling them about problems right after they announced.

Everything really. Story and characters are less important than gameplay and jankiness to me in general though. As long as the overall gameplay and graphics aren't too far off 2 and there is at least 1 waifu I think I would be satisfied for $5

You too ;)

I'm in a mood for some good ol' fantasy RPGs.
I heard that the base game in both NWN is insanely dull and boring but the expansions are pretty good.
Do I really need to play the base game to enjoy the expansions?

Attached: 07FC9A27DAA7443E877676B3BD19664C.gif (200x161, 986K)

Yes it stretches the icon pixels for you.

Expansions are just solid compared to pretty bad OC, but NWN1 would not be my go-to game for story.

No. Most people never finished the base game, those that even played the official campaigns at all largely played HoTU. Most people skipped the official campaigns all together.

It just integer scales (doubles) the whole UI, so it can still look too big or too small depending on your resolution.

Why isn't NWN2 on steam? I know its on gog but i have all my other games on steam and want it logged on my profile

Attached: 2222.png (520x490, 563K)

Gamers used to ask "why is this drm in my game?" now they ask "why isn't this game in my drm?"

Then you won't be satisfied. Take a look at the screenshots. The graphics are markedly older than the second game. You get one companion of a variety in the base campaign and one expansion, the last expansion let's you bring two along. They're AI controlled and you can only give them commands, you can't switch over to them.

Can't really say about waifus since I'm not interested in that, but there are female companions that you flirt and say that you want to hook up after the campaign's over and nothing happens of it in the base game and its expansions.

publishing shenanigans

>giving money to Beamdog ever
>ever
Absolute idiot OP

Literally the only worthwhile EE is Planescape Torment because they improved the combat UI by removing the combat wheel. Makes it infinitely easier to play.

This enhancement is off the hook.

Attached: NWNComparisonAllFilters_.jpg (3840x1080, 1.43M)

If you like the core game then yeah. I've played that game when they released the EE and there should be a ton of improvements since then. I'd say get it

When is NWN classic?

Attached: 10.jpg (1829x995, 330K)

It used to be on Steam.

How does Google keep getting worse at the only thing it's supposed to do?

The wheel was fine. Zoomers need to deal with it and spend 10 minutes getting used to whatever controls the game throws at them instead of whining like petty children.

NWN and NWN2 are 8/10 if you like that kind of game. Haven't played either in ages but I remember them fondly (except the crafting system from NWN2 which was meh... but I generally don't like crafting so I might be a bit biased)

Try the OC as a tutorial, if you feel it bores you and you learned how the game works enough from it, you can safely move to the expansions.
Otherwise just finish it, personally I never understood the hate it gets.

The first expansion (Shadows of Undrentide) is completely standalone, but the second one (Hordes of the Underdark) is a direct sequel to SoU and a certain NPC/companion later on is a major story character from the OC campaign.

It almost certainly got taken down because beamdog is going to release NWN2EE eventually

That has nothing to do with it and they're not even in talks for NWN2. It's sold through GoG.

It was delisted from Steam 7 years ago, sweetie.

>bought this game like 4 or 5 times back in the day
>new version on sale for 4-8 yuros
>might buy yet again
help
what's this faggotry regarding the devs anyways

It got taken down from Steam before Jewdog even existed as a company, I hate playing devil's advocate but for once Jewdog aren't at fault.
It's some corporate legal rights limbo bullshit with Atari.

High-contrast and sharpen are pretty shitty, but ambient occlusion is a great addition.

You mean crayon colors and jaggies. AO is kind of shit too, it's barely noticeable and when you get just reshading the old version you barely miss it. They also lost the possibility of using the first person view when they broke compatibility with community shaders from before EE. What they give us doesn't really make up for everything they took away.

The problem with ReShade AO is that it always clips through UI/textures like all ReShade effects, that's why I like when games implement AO natively. I ain't defending their shit, just saying that AO is a good addition.

What are some good mods for the EE version of the game

It's not bad but it's not game changing. Some people might feel more strongly about corner shadows and things like that.

>what's this faggotry regarding the devs anyways
>make an expansion for baldur's gate
>include a tranny character who won't shut the fuck up that it's a tranny
>players always killed it
>dev got pissed and made it immortal after a patch
That's just one of many fuckups Beamdog did, also their "enhanced" versions aren't enhanced at all and are made with very low effort.

Reshade isn't smart enough to separate the UI layer? Pfft.

They're incompetent. They wanted help so they picked the guy who ended up paying the hosting fee for the site people use to host their mods. He brought on some other right place no skill modders, who got salaried by Beamdog and access to source code. Lots of promises but it turned out the people they hired didn't have the chops to do the work. So they just did a fraction all in their own self interest for their own mods and server.

Meanwhile in the background one of the old devs has been working on a new graphics engine like a man possessed with the spirit of true autism for more than a year. All the old art will be the same but it will have some better shaders and it will work on XBox ONE, so get excited apparently.

This shit just reminds me of when Romero was talking about outsourcing Doom to port it to SNES. Nothing was done after a year and then when they got to actually work on it, they did it in a week.

Hacks who pick up other people's work can never be trusted.

In case of the doom psx ports, it was Carmack that threw a shitfit when the porting dev actually made a better engine for the console version.

Probably the thing that rustled the most jimmies was the same people made a new backend service which got official support to replace the old one made by the community. It's new so none of the old plugins for it work, but they refuse to port it to all OSes or port all plugins. Why? It's volunteer work, is what they say. Why the hell did they replace something so core to the mod community when they have no intention to support it????

Boggles the mind.

It's hard getting the Champions games running, though. Something about the discs doesn't want to play nice with my PS2.

I believe It was wolf3d not doom

And you know it was "better" how?

Yeah could be. It was one of the major classic titles Romero talked about on a con recently.

Sry, it was the saturn port.
retrovideogamer.co.uk/rvg-interviews-jim-bagley/
twitter.com/ID_AA_Carmack/status/519828531950665728
In the first link, dev said that his original version would hit 60fps on the Saturn.

So basically the devs wanted to YOLO with some experimental bullshit that mostly backfired from experience and he was supposed to roll with it. Calling that a "shitfit" is dumb as fuck. You don't become a succesful dev by letting shitters do whatever they want.

Aribeth is the best and purest waifu

Yeah, user not like all other Id ports were fucking the holy grail of ports.

>gets corrupted easily
Nah

Yeah, it's notoriously finicky about the PS2 that it'll run on. If you've got a meaty computer you can emulate it off the disc with a few extra bells & whistles.

He said clearly, it was "experimentation". Risk taking is a thing and being conservative where none is needed will save you time and money. Sure he is more confident now after literal decades, but that wouldn't put him in a different position he was in back then.

he always talks about that shit every con, pretty sure it was wolf3d because they had to halt all doom development just to finish the port
I recommend masters of doom if you haven't read it already

I guess I could try that. But really, what's the issue that makes those games just not work on certain consoles? I don't think I've ever heard of that being a thing except for Champions.

I made an NWN mod conversion to Pathfinder rules.

Diamond edition already exists and worked fine, Beamdog is just cancerous.

Oh yeah? How's that working out?
