Resi 2 remake sewers are good
>ice level
I wish I was eating ass right now
>It's a dark level
>There's no reliable way to light the way
>dark level
>torch is a very narrow light and has to recharge
fucking Half-Life 2 EP1
>forced stealth level in an action game
Imo the sewers in remake 2 are one of the few aspects that date it, theyre a slow ugly slog, especially compared to the police station itself which is better designed than 99% of game mapa created today
>ah wew its a tiny bit stinky
in my city someone opened just an access point to a mains and i nearly fucking died from revulsion right there, there is no way a normal person could just exist in that water
This wouldn't be so bad if the stealth weren't always half assed tacked on garbage like Spider Man. Nothing wrong with mixing up gameplay if the gameplay itself is good, but designing two in depth systems isnt practical
Sewer Gas is actually toxic so you're right
>Volcanic level
>eye-gouging lava against brown wasteland
>"ride these oddly sequential pieces of floating rock on a river of lava, but watch out your weight will cause them to sink!"
It truely was a smell i can only describe as "hostile" and i was only knocking at the door of it
>snow level
>dense forest level
>lengthy escort level
>escort can die
>escort AI is braindead
>no checkpoints throughout entire level
There's an easy way to make that even worse
>procedurally generated sewer level
>gimmicky water level
>gimmick isn't actually swimming or being underwater, it's something else entirely
The only good sewer level to ever exist was in ratchet and clank 3. Every other game, it's just an excuse for bland level design
>organic/body horror level
All escort events/quests are irredeemable shite.
Jak 2&3 have pretty good sewer levels with good music too
>constuction site level
>Water Hazard level
this fucking bullshit
Earthworm Jim had one of these, it was massively anxiety inducing
This, HL2's best parts are Water Hazard and Highway 17. Episode 2 is the best overall, of course. Pure art the whole way through, even the zombie settlement.
Getting lost in there with the eerie ambient music was pretty kino. Really should have put in more enemy types besides complete fodder enemies and a miniboss.
>Watching the dev commentary
>They thought a copy-pasted sewer would save time when making the level
>because enemies were supposed to walk on walls as part of the design doc it ended up making the level take forever just from making them walk on walls properly
Sewer systems aren't really ever spacious at all even when designed for human access. A closer thing in real life to a videogame sewer would be like an underground waterway or an elaborate cistern.
God I hate this level. Damn near impossible to beat.
>swimming controls so good you actually look forward to the water levels
>volcano level
>you must stop the source of the lava
>booty level
