I hope this automatic levels faggot get ban in this mario maker.
Matthew Wright
I gain much more satisfaction making levels that people can't even get past the first step than how popular they are.
Parker Phillips
They have to ban those "Don't move" maps.
Joshua Perez
Something is wrong with you. Were you bullied as a child?
Wyatt Lewis
This should teach you that people can't recognize good level design because that requires some brain, while le ebin level is easy to understand, you see the meme, you like. And now you realize that people on Yea Forums never actually value gameplay because they can't tell the difference between good and bad game design, and that's why all you talk about here is story, graphics and music. The absolute state of this place, literally the board for brainlets.
People would try, but I learned to be nice to everyone and everyone was usually nice to me in return or even came to my defense when someone tried to bully me.
I just think it's really funny when people get confused and can't figure out how to proceed through something.
Eli Bell
Woah buddy. Chill out a bit, ok?
David Bailey
But it's not even like you can watch them get frustrated you just see statistics, no?
Bentley Torres
What cancer are you not looking forward to the most, Yea Forums?
>Ghost House + Night mode >"Collect 50 coins to win" -> they're all in hidden blocks >Snake Block levels + projectile spam >ON/OFF traps >Clear pipe trolling designed to waste your time
>pick a dick shit >recreations of smb levels or stuff that feels like it >scavenger hunt levels that abuse the new clear requirements mechanic >anything that uses the upside down gimmick >levels that require consistent midair shell jumps I think that's about it.
I hope the dislike feature they're adding actually does shit and won't just be a placebo
Blake Gonzalez
this would be great, or a way to block certain creators from appearing.
Jack Sanders
I will use on/off switches to make levels for 4 player co-op that let other players alter the path ahead of them to fuck over people who were a bit faster than them
You know what's cool? You can now write a description for your level that people see. People also only see a small screenshot preview of your stage instead of a complete horizontal view of its entirety. And you got tags so people can choose not to play anything tagged with things like "speedrun" or "auto scroll"
Well that image in question shows the end of the level but it's kinda moved up so you don't see the ground. So I'd say yes. You probably just center the camera on anything you want, press a button and save that as your preview pic.
Camden Baker
You probably can
Josiah Hill
never
Nicholas Johnson
what's to stop faggots from making shit as fuck levels and then mistagging them to fuck with people
fuck BOO'ing a level better do something
Samuel Nelson
That's the next best thing though, assuming that there's at least a rudimentary filtering system (and it would be retarded to include tagging but not a filtering system)
Mason Hughes
It's for containment. hopefully
Brandon Smith
What levels do you plan on making?
Liam Harris
I'm a big fan of the 3d world sky theme. Reminds me of a toy factory. So that's what I'm going to make, a toy factory. Main gimmicks will be cranes (if they exist in 3d world), conveyors, bobombs, probably with crates sprinkled in a bit.
Eli Rogers
I will remake one of my Mario Maker 1 levels now that there are actual snake blocks. Then I will just fuck around to see what idea I come up with.
Austin Reed
A level where you travel on top of enemies while the moon is flying around.
Kevin Rogers
I'm planning on making a level where you have to jump and throw sells up to activate on/off switches to make platforms to land on. I'll also make it so you have to re catch the shell and spin jump bounce off enemies for platforming.
Easton Ortiz
An horizontale Bowser Castle with lava constantly rising up if that's possible
Grayson Thompson
literally
Landon Lee
I'm going to remake all my MM1 levels as fast as possible to cash in on those easy launch-day medals.
Oliver Gonzalez
how are those styluses anyways? the rubber seems like it would be obnoxious to use because of the friction
Noah King
it's not rubber and that pointy thing is hollow inside. i have a pen with a back like that designed to work with smartphones. you can 'paint' on the screen no problem
Cameron Ortiz
>tfw levels were either DON'T MOVE, a Thwomp right above you at the start, or fifty billion recreations of actual Mario levels
Brandon Sanders
Have you played the original MM1? The thumbnail is based on where you are in the editor when you upload the level.
John Harris
Either I'll do again a Tiny-Huge Island theme level (Did that in MM1 with mixed results, but it was fun, Tiny Huge Island and Giant World were my favorite levels in 64 and SMB3), or I'll do some classic platforming Levels with unique Bosses fights.
Justin Jones
people don't want to play video games. people want to watch video games being played, either by itself or by someone else.
Dylan Richardson
>kaizo levels with a "clear the stage as super mario" condition I have seen the future of your Mario Maker 2 courses.
The problem is that when a good "standard" level works it's hard to see the designer's hand in action. Why is the first level of SMB a great level? Why is E1M1 a great level? I probably couldn't explain it within one post. It's easy to say why an auto scroller is cool though. You can't really blame normal fags for not getting that. I couldn't tell you why any given work in the Louvre is important, but it's easy for me to see why something like the Eiffel Tower, which is obviously a major engineering feat is cool.
Nolan Taylor
>"Complete the stage as Super Mario!" >100 question blocks >Only one of them has a mushroom in it >The rest has enemies in them >Only 10 seconds to find the mushroom and complete the level >Underwater theme with night mode enabled
Elijah Fisher
>"Complete the stage as Super Mario!" >long ass kaizo level >gives you a mushroom at the start >right before the end, there's a forced hit section where you need to use your i-frame to pass >there was a hidden block with a progressive powerup right at the start
Couldn't the person who found the mushroom just leave a message where it is?
Nolan Martinez
I going to block any auto-levels, any music levels, any japanese made levels and downvote levels that start with a whomp falling or have a clear condition tied to a single invisible block
>"Complete the stage as Super Mario" >long ass kaizo level >there's plenty of mushrooms through out the level >but there's a forced hit section right at the end and no mushrooms after >there's one mushroom right at the very start in question block that you have to release that travels along the top of the whole level >the path it's on has plenty of holes for it to fall down and off the level but there are mechanisms to change the path to keep it travelling safely >if you did it right and fast enough the mushroom travels all the way to the end of the level past the point where you have to take the forced hit so you can grab the mushroom and complete the goal
Robert Johnson
A huge part of MM1 (that lots of people never realised) was that you had to go online to find any levels that were worth playing, and you had to manually shill your own levels online to get any plays. It was all a consequence of having zero real infrastructure for searching and discovering decent levels amid the sea of shit by 5-year-olds.
Jacob Nguyen
That sounds fun actually. I think the first game had levels where you have to follow a koopa shell and bring it to a point where a block needs to be broken.
Grayson Murphy
>make stage called "try your luck" >it's a stage with 5 long glass pipes and clearly only enough time on the timer to enter one >objective: collect 50 coins >four of the five glass pipes are empty >the fifth one has 49 coins in it >the 50th coin was hidden in an invisible block at the beginning
You can't upvote or downvote a course until you cleared it to avoid kids downvoting (boo-ing) a course after 5 seconds just because they died once.
Oliver Powell
Pretty sure it's containment like that other guy said, I think I read somewhere that Nintendo did not liked much the idea of auto levels.
Nathaniel Gutierrez
That’s great. I like that a lot.
Jason Phillips
It keeps near uncompletable troll stages from getting downvoted but also keeps them from getting upvoted, so they'll just kind of join the sea of billions of levels with very few ratings on them
Christian Bennett
Every game and review site should have this scoring system.
Levi Flores
disabled comments
Justin Scott
two things the game is missing for me is that green orb thing that lets you finish a level without a flagpole in SMW and secret exits
Landon Ward
I don't like most kaizo levels because there's no freedom in how you play them, you HAVE to do it in one very specific way to win. What makes Mario games fun is that they're easy, but you make it hard on yourself by restricting yourself or trying to play a certain way, and I want to place enemies and adjust the heights of platforms to make absolutely sure that can happen.
Austin Allen
Some good old Metroidvania, gonna make good use of vertical sub areas
Jacob Perry
And force them to find them through win conditions like red coins or such?
Camden Turner
>>Put in effort to make interesting progression of difficulty >discover 3 anons who share your passion and interests sounds like a win nobody needs 1000 friends
Charles Jackson
>objective: collect 100 coins >level is split into 2 paths, one with more than enough coins and one with only red coins for a key door at the end. >red coin path also has like only 90 coins to confuse you >there is a hidden vine directly above the key door that takes you to the end >using the key door instantly kills you
I don't care about what gets the most attention. I'm just going to make what I like.
Connor Gray
I loved the SMM threads when the game first came out because you guys loved my shitty levels so much that I got a million Stars and Kotaku tried to set up an interview with me. Those were weird times.
Hunter Johnson
*boos youre level**
Leo Davis
Can't wait to see what you post in the new threads soon. Sharing levels here was one of the best times I've had on the site.
Colton Foster
>Make a level about a Pooping butt >Over 9000 likes/plays, featured on Youtube Streams
So you're going to make levels filled with giant, throbbing cocks? Haha! Gottemmmm! You just got punked, kid!
Easton Reyes
So what does everyone think will be the big surprise at E3? Another style like SMB2 USA, an overworld editor? More playable characters like Peach or Wario?
Jaxson Young
I made a level like that called "mario's sexy adventure" and it got deleted. It ended with you going into a toilet.
Mason Clark
If you make an interesting enough level it will probably get a lot of plays and likes through endless challenge mode where the level people play is random except for the set difficulty. I can only wonder if it's someone's job at nintendo to literally play every level that gets uploaded and then assign it to a difficulty pool.
Justin Ward
Is there anything that has been removed from mm1?
Nicholas Hall
>Make a stage called American History X50 >Objective Kill 50 Goombas >Start the map in a Shoe >You have to Stomp all the Goombas to win. >Music Selection is this youtube.com/watch?v=IlZrFE0bmUw
>tfw already have terrible plans >Having to outrun a giant Bully while avoiding obstacles like bricks >Having to master jumping at the right time on small platforms while the Angry Sun fucks with you >Having to time your jumps while on Burners >Having to run for your fucking life while Thwomps activate gigantic Boo Rings and Boom Boom chases you too
Joseph Gonzalez
I bet the castle was destroyed when bowser did something, and peach is in the castle rubble so you gotta rebuild it to find her Also mario maker having story mode confirms 2d mario is dead and we will never get a new one, only new mario makers
Sebastian James
Getting banned
James Thompson
>Collect 50 coins >last coin is hidden in death trap room
So what's the worst gimmick we're gonna be playing with in Night mode, its Boo House right?
Camden Roberts
Upside down gimmick (night underground) is both pointless and annoying
Christian Long
I wasnt around for the original MM threads but Yea Forums‘s non lewd smash stages have really given me hope.
Kayden Jenkins
Given one of the Toad's in the trailer mentions "This is why I'm a cat person" the Castle was probably erased by the Undo Dog.
Joshua Sanders
Good thing they're adding filters and tags for that shit now. Gonna make the game so much better.
Hunter Wood
I can't wait to let my Yea Forumsbros play my troll levels.
Benjamin Nguyen
It doesn't matter what you build. I've built many levels that were blind easy, and most player deaths were in the first small pit. Two squares wide is more than enough to kill most of the players. I'm convinced that most of Mario Maker has been purchased as a baby sitter, because nobody with thumb control could play so poorly.
James Rogers
I hope when you start endless challenge you get to block level tags from showing up, definitely gonna block shit like puzzles and auto scrollers.
Leo Mitchell
It will combine flawlessly with the dizzy effect.
Jaxson Ward
>do expert mode >somehow a little kid level will make it in >its just a shit ton of bowsers and enemies falling from the sky and you get no cover >the end is 4 doors >only 1 door will lead you to the flag >the rest will dump you in lava AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
I'm gonna remake/retool some of my levels from the first game to get in the swing of things, and then I'm gonna try to make a game consisting of maybe 6 worlds with 4 levels each. I'm not sure which theme I'll be using. I'd like to give 3D world a shot but the SWM tileset is my favorite and has more features I'm already familiar with, so I don't know yet.
Zachary James
Would you like Satan's job?
Chase Watson
>Find out what levels are most popular with tag filter players. >Intentionally place troll levels in their path.
Time passed. He's no longer angry at you. He's just disappointed.
Christian Price
Why would anyone ever make a level that wasn't a quirky night time level?
Justin Rivera
Haunted hotel/mansion like Hotel Defilno with Boos. The backdoor is locked to the exit and you need to get the key to escape. There will be a hidden path to the roof that is also a shortcut to beat the level.
Ayden Barnes
The moon will be interesting on levels that can't be passed without jumping across a gap on the head of enemies.
Isaac Stewart
At least the comments can help avoid potential kaizo bullshit
Connor Evans
you faggots better share your good designed level when the game is out then, seen a lot of trash talking but always never enough actual delivery
Carson Bell
Why not just accuse every level of being kaizo?
James Morgan
Cant you undo undos tho?
Chase Murphy
I plan to make normal levels and hope a few people experience my creativity because even 1 person playing is cool knowing another human experienced something you made.
This is the only level I created that somebody else randomly uploaded a video on Youtube. After trying to upload it and it taking 6 hours, my dream was nothing but bananas, all because of the blocks.
>Systems rewards ranks for number of levels completed. >Can set filter to only give you automatic levels.
Jeremiah Mitchell
i don't think 3d world has sun moon, well nothing to be seen so far at least
Carson Mitchell
Made me anxious
Owen Parker
>that fucking cheeky "this is impossible after the patch isnt it" comment you are one sick fuck, great job
Josiah Reyes
isn't that rank shit only for when you beat endless? which are randomly chosen anyway?
Aiden Ramirez
I kinda wish there was an option so you could link MM1 with your Switch account and import levels over. I don't want ALL the garbage from the first game instantly flooding MM2, just give me the level data to tinker with and manually upload like usual.
Hell, I made a ton of glitch levels, before Nintendo decided to remove them. I made an exact up-side down replica of World 1-1 using it, and I made several levels which blocked off the exit using invisible blocks which needs an alternate exit that is hidden from everyone else.
Only one glitch level remains, and it was one that didn't utilize that block glitch (and remains impossible to complete since one of the mechanics was patched).
Hudson James
For me, it's Uno Màs levels.
Dominic Cooper
>blatant troll level >literally user name "u mad bro" with attempt at trollface mii >"this is impossible after the patch isn't it" I don't miss Mario Maker all that much after all
Julian Russell
There's a condition to escort a Toad to the end of the stage, what the fuck, escort missions are gonna be hell. i.imgur.com/c9K5zLg.jpg
James Thompson
Already mentioned this on another thread but >Have to escort a Magikoopa and a Red Bullet Bill from the start to the end of the level. >Magikoopa has to erase the blocks blocking the flag pole >Bullet Bill is for an extra jump to reach the flag. >Set the moon to shit on the player.
Easton Foster
>Pipe to vertical sub world. >Mario immediately deposited onto the top of a block snake, sandwiched between two columns of blocks. >Block travels straight down. >Only travels straight down. >Clearly has enough coins along the path to acquire the limit required to finish level. >Player doesn't have quite enough time on the clock to see the bottom of the sub-world unless they had jumped into the pipe as quickly as humanly possible. >If they did manage to reach the pipe as fast as possible, they discover that the vertical sub world has no bottom, and just drops them into the void to die.
Robert Gomez
Why can't I shake that SMW looks like a cheap flash game?
Easton Hill
Because the most popular sprite set ever used on newgrounds was SMW?
Charles Fisher
Story mode only
Matthew Anderson
Because it's become common to imitate the style snes era graphics.
Gabriel Evans
The new sprites don't fit at all with the style of the old ones.
Robert Johnson
because of the art style and a lot of flash shit later on are influenced from it i mean it came out in 1990 user
William Peterson
Going to make an impregnate Peach level where you go and shoot into Peach from a clear tube, which is attached to Mario's front.
Eli Jenkins
>Attached claw to sun. >It randomly grabs shit and throws it around.
Aiden Gray
Because it does. Ugliest game style by far.
Jonathan Fisher
nintendo already did one similar in their trailer >you go from mario butt and come out of his mouth to luigi mouth
Joseph Butler
I can already see the claw + twister + on / off combo gonna break somebody's mind
Eli Clark
i cant believe nintendo is promoting gay brother on brother incest
Nathan Richardson
it's not gay if you yell mama mia it's a no homo
Jason Lewis
That happens with everything, not just Mario. Dumb memeshit is easily noticed, don't know what your ""comfy"" bullshit is about but you're coming off as whiny.
Aiden Hernandez
I'm going to finish every single level posted on this site. Then boo it.
Ethan Myers
Hoping there still is a button to show the entire horizontal view Was a great way to filter out shitty stages
Joseph Edwards
That's not a troll level.
Trust me when I say I made ones that had a hundred angry comments at me back when Miiverse was still a thing.
Thomas Sullivan
I remember a level where you went into Bowser's toilet and you went underwater with swimming Goomba's all around.
Landon James
>People like showy stuff Imagine my shock Picture my amazement Portray my astonishment Visualize my bewilderment Envision my dismay
Hunter Martinez
Got a source on that? The Direct has the boo button available when he died before clearing the course
Thomas Gutierrez
Can you put ground in the sky? I'm thinking of making old Mario levels, but flipped and Mario runs on the clouds (cloud placement changes to make the level more interesting to play in) Uploaded never-ever because I'm not tipping nintendo for online
Logan Price
Hopefully the more advanced commenting and booing will get people to avoid/dislike bomb it for lying.
Dominic Thompson
10 boos and a stage get automatically deleted would be nice but maybe a bit too extreme
Jace Bell
So which game has wall jumping? World and 3d?
John Butler
>all these ideas for troll levels Now I'm convinced that SMM2 is the world's most elaborate torture device
Gavin Morris
from the trailer, it looks like you can draw out your comment on a blank white page idk if that gonna last long because people gonna draw penis and shit for sure
Cooper Clark
There will already be mafias of players that like and boo in unison.
Jeremiah Allen
NSMB and 3D World
Austin Gutierrez
NSMB and the new one I think. I just hope that a bad like/dislike ratio will filter out absolute garbage levels.
Joshua Allen
I did one for World 1-1, and it's long been deleted, and nobody else uploaded a video of it. It abused the invisible block glitch to make a perfect replica, except upside-down.
Hudson Murphy
Hmm guess I only have 1 game to make wall jumps in then
Easton Williams
it probably gonna be rough at first but it won't surprise me if nintendo put some sort of hidden mechanic to hide those disliked stages to some forgotten corner of the earth
Alexander Young
because you are a brainlet with no mental capacity to describe anything you don't like with something other than "cheap flash game"
>place down a maze of clear pipes >place a red pipe right by the entrances >have it shoot enemies into the clear pipe i can finally make the futurama opening
hopefully nintendo remembers to delete transgender levels and ban their creators. If we can't have boobs, then they cannot have their mental illnesses displayed on our games.
David Brooks
So how would you feel about DLC that can be played free but you have to buy it to use it in level creation?
Anything but Toad, the Hammer Bros, Bowser (Jr) and Boom Boom look fine
Luis Torres
Miiverse is still dead sadly.
Cameron Davis
I dunno, Nintendo added new stuff for free in the last game and that could potentially fragment the game
Aiden Gomez
where does that pipe lead to? Mario's butt?
Benjamin Scott
It wouldn't fragment anything if you can play levels with the content for free like I said.
Oliver Phillips
I mean... they wouldn't just prevent you from playing a level just because it uses a different style you haven't unlocked yet, wouldn't they?
Cameron Jackson
No, fuck DLC, also they're obviously pushing online subscriptions with this, we don't need DLC
Adrian Wood
that is what he is saying, you are free to play EVERYTHING, but upload your own shit is a different story
Jeremiah Powell
Wtf is mario maker 2 out
Gotta order it
Ryan Parker
The direct made it look like it's the opposite actually
Josiah Rodriguez
june 28th nigga, go watch the 15 minutes direct came out couple days ago
Jacob Moore
faggot op. I had to drop everything and check amazon, I've been waiting for the mario maker 2 since the first one
Samuel Mitchell
What's the deal with the mallet object only being in the toolbox of builders in Japan?
Easton Collins
I made an auto-scroller where you had to follow a koopa shell as it traveled along the top half of the level, occasionally killing enemies that would block its progress. Might do a remake of that one with some of the new mechanics and shit in 2.
Ian Rodriguez
>Cucking yourself: the video game OH NO NO NO NO
Oliver Morris
Unfortunately, it's up to players yo have better standards. Nintendo can do little.
Anthony Gonzalez
Yeah
Cooper Cruz
Now you know how to get likes. Go forth and become likable and get those stars.
Brayden King
>High priced sequel game. >Only selling part of the game at release, so they can sell other pieces of it later. >Charging monthly to play the game. >Discontinued in 5 years so they can sell MM3 on the next console gen.
Nolan Reyes
>Made a level in 1 designed to be as annoying as possible with tons of music blocks slowing you down and limited time to make it to the end >mfw I just realized it could actually be pretty fun if I tweaked it for Maker 2, gave it more time and made it a versus course.
no idea but they went out of their way to make sure it is absence from the western trailer im surprise they even bother to make separate ones for japan and one for everybody else anyway, but that just confirmed that they clearly still hide some shit
Connor Campbell
Your post did not go unwitnessed, based user.
Jace Rodriguez
Yea Forums give me your worst fucking idea for a versus or a coop course i want to see some evil shit so i know what the fuck to dodge in the future
Cameron Clark
course where it loops endlessly until you take the right path Said right path is as out of the box as it can be without being a dev exit
Austin Brooks
You know how there are levels that require you to jump off Yoshi to clear gaps, right? Imagine that but you have to jump off the other players instead.
Owen Williams
Probably safe to assume everyone will get to use it. I guess it will be an alternative to stars Maybe it will block jumping the way it does in Donkey Kong.
>Suddenly the kong homage level i was so proud of is made obsolete by a more appropriate power-up.
Liam Hill
I kinda want this game but I'm not sure if I'd ever build a stage.
Kayden Allen
cruelty deepens not from challenge but from a lack thereof
Gavin Cook
isn't there an item in mario games or smash when you pick up the hammer and you went ape shit hitting people until it time out?
Christopher Reed
Yeah. It's originally from arcade Donkey Kong.
Gavin Peterson
I hope a possible victory condition for multiplayer versus maps is to be the last one standing. I want to make some mario deathmatch levels, dammit.
Players probably re-spawn until their life count hits zero. Your level will have to be an absolute meat grinder for them to all lose 100 lives within the 500 second timer.
Nathaniel Myers
Even if not, it wouldn't be that hard to rig something that's basically the same. Like a tunnel to the end that you need to go through very slowly (i.e. because of a shell hitting an on/off switch) and if any other player hits a P switch you die. Then you just need to find a way to block off the spawn area, which shouldn't be too hard with a falling bill blaster or something.
Sebastian Myers
probably there won't be that clear condition HOWEVER clear the stage as super mario is one, and you can force death match so people have to fight to get the only mushroom
Julian Hughes
A path that gets blocked off as soon as one player enters. Everyone has to wait for that player to finish or hope that he dies.
Thomas Sanchez
Will this increase Takamaru's chances of joining in smash ultimate as part of the 2nd fighters pass?
Sad thing is, the original kaizo is not mindless at all.
Landon Gray
So anyone know if you can actually handpick courses for multiplayer versus or are you stuck to random picks
Levi Phillips
I wonder if people are gonna make those LBP torture levels where one player is able to go on a higher path and then torture the other players stuck on the lower path with stuff like the off/on switch
Grayson Mitchell
I want to recreate classic levels, but with no flag pole at the end, and I'm going to hide a pipe to the flag pole in the nichest place that was possible to reach in those original classic levels.
they did mention people should put tag for versus course so i think you are somewhat in control
Jeremiah Hughes
stinky rosterfag
Joshua Butler
Hi lads I never played the original, and I have some questions:
>Does each theme (SM3, SMW, etc) come complete with the physics of how Mario controlled in those games? Can he spin jump in SMW and build up P speed in SM3, and so on? >Is there a limit to how much you can put in each level, like in Stage Builder in Smash Bros or create-a-park in Tony Hawks? And if there is a limit, how reasonable is it? >Are certain enemies and objects locked to certain themes? Except for the 3D world theme, I saw in the direct that that is it's own thing. >I know it's fun to respond to a series of questions, so anything you want to say?
Make a level with effort the handful of people who played it give you praise and say they can't wait to see what you put out next and begin following you.
>yes >yes >yoshi is only in the SMW and NSMBU theme, and the shoe is only in the SMB1 and SMB3 theme. There are no other exclusive items >you better make some half-way decent levels
Austin Nelson
>Does each theme (SM3, SMW, etc) come complete with the physics of how Mario controlled in those games? Can he spin jump in SMW and build up P speed in SM3, and so on? Yes. in SMB you can't pick up objects, you can only walljump in NSMB, etc. >Is there a limit to how much you can put in each level, like in Stage Builder in Smash Bros or create-a-park in Tony Hawks? And if there is a limit, how reasonable is it? There's a limit to the amount of ground you can place, and a limit to the amount of entities that can spawn at the same time. both are fairly reasonable >Are certain enemies and objects locked to certain themes? Except for the 3D world theme, I saw in the direct that that is it's own thing. Except for 3D world, all objects correspond to SOMETHING in other games, but some behave very different. For example, Yoshi turns into the Kuribo shoe in SMB and SMB3, the Goombas in SMW behave differently, etc. >I know it's fun to respond to a series of questions, so anything you want to say? thanks for the gold kind stranger
Carter Stewart
physic is unfortunately the same (3d world is a whole other thing), but each style retain some of their own unique mechanic
bad opinion. doing shit that isn't possible in the original game is what makes this game fun
Camden Ortiz
Being this autistic
Austin Jones
All the game modes in MM1 have the same physics as NSMB, but not all have same controls. Only NSMB can wall jump. Only SMW can throw shells upward. NSMB and SMW can spin, but rules for spinning differ depending on held objects. SMB can't pick up items.
Most items exist in all themes, but a handful are very different, and many of them follow different rules. Only SMW lets you separate koopa from their shells. SMW uses Galoomba instead of Goomba, and Galoomba can be used as throw objects. SMB and SM3 have boots instead of yoshi. NSMB yoshi have flutter for height. All flight power-ups are widely different.
Bowser behaves differently for each theme.
Joshua Johnson
Thanks a lot, lads. I look really forward to the Yea Forums sharing threads, and I really hope we get to make our own overworld maps so we can essentially make our own little Mario games.
Cooper Cruz
i mean meanwhile other people want absolute 1000% freedom and you can add whatever the fuck you want from whatever you want
this is literally one of the case that you can't please everybody, and personally i would go with more freedom
Ethan Green
Not sure I like that. What if the level is just a clusterfuck of random enemies in a massive wall? That's a terrible level, but hard to clear.
Angel Scott
you make SOUL vs SOULLESS threads don't you?
Luis Flores
It won’t. Splatoon 2’s art reporting didn’t make the trans shit go away, I had to turn it off and sacrifice getting art entirely.
Matthew White
Then don't use those items and themes. Go ahead and make a boring SMB1 course if you want to.
Carson Rivera
Watch out with all the edge, kiddo. Someone clearly just heard about this movie in middle school this year.
Henry Morris
>>Does each theme (SM3, SMW, etc) come complete with the physics of how Mario controlled in those games? Can he spin jump in SMW and build up P speed in SM3, and so on? they did recreate the gimmicks of each game style, but I think some people have pointed out that the old game styles aren't perfect recreations. I didn't really notice that much myself though >>Is there a limit to how much you can put in each level, like in Stage Builder in Smash Bros or create-a-park in Tony Hawks? And if there is a limit, how reasonable is it? there is, it's not visible while creating the level, but if you place a high amount of enemies or objects, those will be grayed out and you can't place any further I think there's a limit of 3 bosses each stage, but the rest are more reasonable >>Are certain enemies and objects locked to certain themes? Except for the 3D world theme, I saw in the direct that that is it's own thing. to an extend, yeah. Goomba Shoe in SMB1 and 3 becomes Yoshi in World and NSMB, each game has its own gimmick powerup (mystery in 1, leaf in 3, cape in World, propeller in NSMB)
Easton Wilson
i assume levels with abnormally low winrates eventually self-filter itself out of the level pool
Luis Morales
>Make levels that I think are legitimately fun/good. >Post it >Maybe 10 people max play it but get a few likes
Even if a few people enjoy the experience, it was worth it. Stop worrying about pleasing everyone lads, just make things that YOU enjoy.
the mad thing is he only start killing the firebros at the end when he already got gold jesus
Kayden Cruz
I made a "dont move" one that instantly kills you if you attempt to not move, and basically nearly any way kills you unless you just attempt to jump and then spin forward. Got so many plays from that one
John Torres
So Ive been playing NSMBU and Ive never played a mario with the spin before. What does the spin do? Does it suspend you a little in air? Im confused

Let's settle this new game style once and for all.
>High chance of happening SMB2 >Okay chance of happening SML / SML2 Mario Bros. >Slim chance of happening Odyssey 64 >What the actual fuck are you talking About chance of happening Wario Land Paper Mario Donkey Kong Country Galaxy Sunshine Yoshi's Island Kirby
Evan Walker
The spin does a few things, lets up pick up items on the ground, i believe it lets you bounce off of certain object that hurt midair, so long as you start with a spin jump. The midair spin you do during a normal jump is mainly to pick things up/maintain a little height.
James Nguyen
What controller you fellas using for Mario Maker 2? Thinking about using a DS4. Tried an 8bitdo SN30 pro meme and it feels like shit.
Certain enemies can't be jumped on with regular jump, but spinning will let you survive touching them.
Jonathan Lopez
how would you achieve this? i thought from the trailer all 4 players will start at the same place/box
Isaac Scott
None of them are happening.
Josiah Murphy
Give each a door, and don't let two players enter the same door.
Brody Gutierrez
well the pro controller, i can also use the ds4 as well if it want i can imagine some mad fucker gonna duel wield the joy cons on each hand and start making map with twice the speed by himself there is always one of those
Jaxon King
xbox one w/ wireless adapter

Ideally, it would that each player has to go through a separate pipe/door that leads to their own boss room. With each boss room being an exact copy.
Nathan Davis
He looks like the sun switches from ocarina of time in NSMB style

I'm gonna stick with the normal joycons for this

SMM levels really aren't comparable to an actual mario game. Not only is there no world progression, but they are highly gimmicky and amount to what is basically tech demos.
Andrew White
The first game doesnt have world progression either
Asher Miller
Any good ideas for multiplayer levels?
Nicholas Phillips
I think the new warp box disappears after use, so having 4 of those seems like the ideal solution.
Jonathan Ramirez

I hope the amiibo costumes still work in multi-player mode.
Tyler Reyes
Oooh, not a bad idea. I could even use the 3D world unique mechanics. If bonzai bills hurt enemies, I might make one where the quickest solution is to bait bowser/bowser jr into one of those background bonzai bills.
Connor Roberts
How do you know the game isn't released yet
Wyatt Thompson

I hope they confirm the Mystery Mushroom soon. I’ll miss making Ashley stages or character themed stages. I really enjoyed those.
Benjamin Parker
I swear you are on every thread. Do you collect autism bux or something?
Tyler Wright
Super Mario Maker has been out for years.
Jackson Bell
what?
Adam Perez
Did you watch the trailer? And looked at the kinds of level they showed? Also history repeats itself. They had the same selling point for the 3DS version.
>Load up my old Mario Maker >Most of my stages were only semi popular >Except the difficult Ganondorf themed one I made, which was very popular W-wowee!
there are, the question is do you feels comfortable open up and modding your joycon? because from my experience that shit is not for everyone
Anthony Reyes
super mario maker 2 had the lower nitnendo switch size
Nolan Lee
Will there be *any* reason to ever play the first game when this comes out?
Blake Cruz
A more universal way to separate players is to make 1 block wide holes with a trampoline at the bottom, an invisible block above the trampoline, and a sideways passage that starts between the block and the trampoline.
Joseph Taylor
Only if you really like one of the bugs that's in the first one but not in the second one. I'd assume that stacked object won't be a thing anymore.
Jackson Wood
maybe meme reasons like costumes or the existing course already there or they can't get a switch yet but for mm2 with a bigger userbase i can see this get close to 10 million after a year or 2
Jace Martin
Touchscreen? If SMM2 doesn't use it I can't imagine building levels being as fun.
Chase Bell
It does. Hell you can coop level build on one screen
Henry Roberts
It does make use of the touchscreen, but it's optional this time.
Julian Wood
Me
That looks legit, may pick this up too
Sebastian Young
Stacking items was a bug?
Owen Clark
automatic levels take a decent amount of work to make, let alone make interesting. They're also the most accessible levels as the literally take no skill, unlike your normal levels.
Jeremiah Wright
There are adapters that allow you to use any bluetooth controller on your switch. If you already have a controller with a better d-pad, you might want to pick up one of those.
Eli Young
I'm pretty sure staking in a way that makes stuff overlap wasn't intended. People usually did that with pipes.
Elijah Lee
Can we fucking get playable characters that aren't Mario/Luigi/Toads #1 through #390849230382910-5789023?

I made an auto level that is a straight tunnel, and it has 342 plays, 31 stars, and a completion rate of 94,47%.
Jackson Ortiz
the only hope is making a petition on >reddit
the only hope for non-toad PCs are Peach/Daisy/Wario/Waluigi
Gabriel Adams
You can buy replacement shells for a joycon that give it a real d-pad
I've been playing Mario Maker 1 again recently to get ideas for 2, but I'm kinda finding it difficult to come up with good standard platformer levels now. I hope to get a lot of inspiration once I get my hands on 2, since it comes with new interesting mechanics.
Also question, I don't have a switch but if I got one, could I use the Wii U stylus or would that scratch up the Switch display?
It's worse when the popular levels are those retarded gimmick Ines where you have to do really repetitive tasks over and over like jumping up increasingly difficult obstacles. You don't even die in these courses, you just get conveyored back to the start/checkpoint, because the creator knows it's inanely frustrating and not really possible to do first time.
And of course, the stage is covered in obnoxious decor like vines and cross crossing blocks. Fuck whoever make sure this sort of 'level', I'll take kaizo and auto levels over this anyday.
Caleb Jenkins
The problem is that retards like you try and police what people are interested in when actually, a game is more than just it's gameplay and level design. both of those things are also completely subjective when it comes to them being good or bad.
Zachary Foster
You're not supposed to shove it up your ass user.
Xavier Williams
alright
Liam Cook
The WiiU is resistive which means it takes a single point at a time and can't take your finger, the switch screen is capacitive which means it can take multiple points and you can use your finger instead of your nail, but it won't detect anything from the wiiu stylus. You run a risk of scratching the switch screen by using the wiiu stylus, so get a proper capacitive stylus, they sell it in most electronic or even common pen stores for really cheap
Austin Watson
Is there gonna be a Super Wario Maker mode?
Liam King
that just jews building a bank
Luis Morgan
Are you 12?
Owen Price
the bastard part of me actually enjoy this idea
Colton Baker
SMB Deluxe on GBC had a 2-player mode where you do exactly that.
Leo Baker
There's nothing wrong with Kaizo though.
Gavin Gray
Even better: >Pipe 1 is empty, leads to death >Pipe 2 has 49 coins, leads to death >Pipe 3 is empty, leads to the end of the level, but you can't finish without 50 coins >Pipe 4: death >Pipe 5: death
Hidden block at the start has a 50-coin in it.
Leo Nelson
kaizo is boring
Jordan Cox
based
Brody Morris
DUDE SHELL JUMPS YOU HAVE TO DO IN EXTREMELY SPECIFIC LOCATIONS EXACTLY HOW THE CREATOR INTENDED LMAO. Once you've seen like 15-30 of them you've seen them all.
Brandon Barnes
That scroll stop feature will make it really easy to make rooms that are completely identical.
Jeremiah Ortiz
I always love levels where you have to go top speed through the entire level to finish with barely any time remaining. Not kaizo though.
Isaiah Torres
Meh. Those always end up being some bland level that happens to contain a single trick that spoils the run for everyone at that one spot.
Matthew Nelson
I'll make a level that is nothing but a long on/off bridge, with the switch being at the beginning. Progress is possible only if no one stays behind to abuse the ability to kill any who attempt to complete the level.
Logan Jones
I can't wait to play this.
Gabriel Reyes
Where do you guys see this at? The only tag I saw somewhat like it was "auto-scroller" but that refers to levels that use the auto-scroll functionality.
Ethan Roberts
What is this, Zero Escape?
MAKE YOUR DECISION
Joshua Mitchell
>Wario Land 3 >Wario Land 4 >Wario Land Shake-It >Wario World Could be kino
Landon Adams
There was a tag called auto mario so I think its a pretty safe bet that its the auto completing levels since there is already a tag for auto scrollers called auto-scrolling
Henry Turner
Shit was there? I must have missed it. If that's true, then that's fucking great. I'd love to be able to filter that shit out.
Jason Rodriguez
I enjoy the kaizo levels when they are well made. But they should let you filter them if you want. Since it seems like 100 mario is gone, and I doubt you'll be able to skip levels in endless mario they need to have a random levels mode that lets you skip levels and filter what you want to play.
Jayden Wood
I guess they will let the co-op groups play levels that were designed for single player situations. A lot of them will be super broken.
Jason Howard
>implying automatic levels or kaizo levels don't take just as much thought as "muh traditional mario" levels
Ayden Evans
Has there been any official confirmation on local co-op?
Caleb Rivera
Local appears to involve each player having their own switch, and standing near each other to connect.
Ayden Jackson
Ah, something that is worse than a father's anger; Disappointment. Resignation.
Jose Sullivan
Underground theme + Night mode + fast autoscroll
Ian Roberts
But there were already levels that did exactly this by having breakable blocks as a check for being big or having a costume at the end of a sequence.
Having played a lot of super expert, I'm much more worried about "Collect 50 coins" and them just being in a ton of hidden boxes.
Luke Sullivan
As an addition, they should add a "Clear level without hitting a hidden block" check for uploading. The hidden block key bullshit has been by far the most frustrating thing for me, way beyond spammy and midair levels.
Cooper Wood
I think what will really be killed is the philosophy of "no skip". It's already been on life support for a while.
Christian Turner
I'm planning to make one of those as my first new level. The goal will be to kill x amount of goombas. They are all walking towards certain death. Waiting for them to commit suicide is too slow and you'll run out of time. You have to kill them before they kill themselves. I'll call it Mario's suicide hotline.
Eli Campbell
>Popular good obscure bad >Story good gameplay bad
I'm confused, did you mean to say Reddit by mistake?
Cameron Cox
And that's fine as long as there's some kind of random system with user-defined filters implemented. No-skip has gotten so frustrating that I'd love to trade current super expert for that.
At least they added a "dislike" button, no idea what effect it will have on the frequency certain courses appear though. I'm also afraid that it'll result in difficult courses getting downvoted by younger players who can't complete them.
Jack Fisher
>Must collect 100 randomly placed coins while free falling down a basically empty vertical sub-world. >A couple of randomly placed spikes along the way.
Nathaniel Diaz
Yeah, because you're interested in story it means you can't have any (valid) opinion on game design. Which is a really broad term by the way.
Landon Rodriguez
The real peril of the "boo", is that groups of people can collude to vote together. There are already groups that vote for each other as a way to manipulate rankings.
email me if you want a link to the Mario Maker 2 Yea Forums discord. Only join if you intend on making good levels to share with others
Nathan Russell
He took his medication
Landon Watson
Almost every mario flash game from the 2000s used SMW sprites That's probably why
Juan Green
see snes sprites were abundant in newgrounds flashes and no-one gives a shit about all-stars nowadays
Evan Perez
she's off fucking bowser while she gets mario to rebuild her entire castle
Grayson Reed
>This thread >Hurr clear pipes that lead to death >Lol random invisible block to beat the level >Lol spikes I don't know why I expected Yea Forums to actually make decent levels.
Joseph Murphy
There was a lot of good Mario Maker threads back in the day and there was a good share of Yea Forums made levels.
Jeremiah Sanders
>I had to drop everything and check amazon, I've been waiting for the mario maker 2 since the first one
so you've been waiting for mario maker 2 since the first one but didn't see the direct or know its release date? Don't blame the OP, blame yourself.
Juan Bell
I don't know anything about Mario maker, but does anyone remember sploder.com back in the day? that was some bullshit, i'd spend all day planning out levels in school and the ones that would win contests were meme designs and "giant mega dropper" that would just instantly make you win
Did they raise the ceiling on horizontal levels, or is it still stuck at 2 screens tall?
Eli Robinson
>one player has to stay above the rest of the other players, and continue hitting on/off switches to hope at least one person makes to the goal, or else they have to off themselves too
Hunter Scott
Large gap can only be passed with sacrificial jumps off of each other.
Jackson Price
A versus racecar course with only three cars with gaps only the cars can jump The fastest path to the exit is falling down the first gap
Jordan Walker
So how does skipping a level work in Endless mario? iiirc in 100 mario you would lose a mario for skipping a shit level, but whatever.. you have 100 lives so who cares? In Endless it seemed like you have 5 lives so how the fuck do you skip levels then.
mario maker 2 was a mistake
Julian Ward
also a spiked ceiling just above the on/off switches and autoscrolling. So if the switch guy dies because of an imprecise jump, everyone fucking dies.
Jason Thompson
My most liked Stage in MM1 was a basic level to practice wall jumps in a mostly safe environment, I miss the comments they were nice
Gabriel Watson
people like gimmicks you fucking moron
Dominic Mitchell
Thats what I did in the first mario maker The levels themselves are way too easy in any style if you make them 1:1 My advice is to remix them a bit since they have a great general layout but need more challenging elements
Nope. Also, sublevels can be horizontal, but they are only one screen wide.
Brandon Martinez
>horizontal I meant vertical
Colton James
So even if i wanted to make a ski resort, Mario can only slide tiny distances before turning around.
Angel Ward
I just wish we could do things like hide moving block/platform rails. I'd totally do a boss fight over seemingly "random" falling debris in a castle battle.
Jason Hill
Didn't the new snake blocks have hidden paths? That's not the rails, but it's more than nothing.
Ryan Morgan
>make boring level >people don't like it
>make a complicated level that took a lot of effort >people like it
>Level is full of enemy spam. >It has a pacifist completion rule so you weren't allowed to kill anything.
Lincoln Rivera
>implying it's easy to make kaizo levels You're a stunning example of the Dunning-Kruger effect.
Carter Barnes
>uploader has to complete any levels they upload
Matthew Mitchell
Well that's how you know you've found the levels of Jesus.
Jayden Baker
Spot the Differences
Benjamin White
That rule certainly never let annoying bullshit get uploaded before.
Tyler Murphy
If the creator can complete it, so can you
William Anderson
Who ever said it couldn't be?
Logan Ortiz
If you can complete it why is it annoying bullshit
Just don't play that level if you don't like it
Ryder Bell
I always felt that when a level is uploaded, it should also come with a replay of the creator finishing the level. That would help with those levels where they just put an invisible block with a starman or hidden door or something so they can bypass their own bullshit. Plus, it would be fun to watch complete runs of those Panga levels. It would also be nice to see runs of the fastest completion times.
Seems like that kind of defeats the purpose though, if it just shows you how to beat it right away
Tyler Jones
If the entire purpose is figuring out how to beat the level, then either 1) it's an interesting puzzle and you won't want to watch the replay anyway, or 2) it's a garbage level.
Nathan Hughes
I think they should at least show you the creator's best finish time. I want to know how long that one Yea Forums speedrunner takes to beat his own metrovanias.
Zachary Powell
I hope filters will help me.
Jaxon Perry
I'm comfortable doing so. But my only concern is if the end result is even worth it. I was looking into that shell. But how does it feel though? Both vertically and horizontally?
Clear pipe maze where all the options lead to the beginning of the level and the real way to the goalpost is hidden behind a secret vine
Brandon Gray
Shit this was my idea.
Mason Young
I guarantee you that thousands of people have had the "remake specific old game in smm" idea before. That shouldn't stop you from making your own.
Nolan Allen
Snake blocks + the PPPU blocks + slippery ice night theme. Have fun, motherfuckers.
Colton Carter
This reminds me of screwing over friends with Light Bridges in portal. Sound fun.
Brody Gray
Each of you will need a different power-up to contribute to traversing the level. A fun puzzle level in which everyone will need to contributed a unique attribute... but it become a nightmare when you make it hard not to take a hit. None of you can take a hit at any time, or that ability is lost to the group, so everyone is soft-locked.
Brayden Russell
That will be difficult to implement since the creator has to be able to beat it solo.
Someone will probably come up with a way to dev-exit that only works on solo plays. There isn't enough info right now to be sure how. Perhaps some item reacts differently when there is more than one player. An enemy that moves slightly different, would be enough to trigger a p switch in the right situation. A mushroom that pops out of a box as a double, would be enough to make a difference.
Depending on how and where multiple players spawn, you could create a situation where a solo-preventing trigger is automatically set off at the start if more than one person is playing.
Camden Peterson
I fucking hope so.
Xavier Clark
The players seem to spawn in a box as the traditional "moveable but uneditable spawn area" like SMM1.
Jacob Adams
Yeah. A Thwomp or Boo near the start, would be enough.
Easton Ramirez
Before they start fighting for position, they probably still spawn in fixed spots. Something might be active.
Alternately, maybe question-mark boxes will provide multiple power-ups, which would make it easy to hit a note block with a roaming mushroom.
Lucas Ward
How many people actually know that she's not from anime crossover but a legit Nintendo character?
Camden Ortiz
Who /hyped/ for Ross' levels in 2?
Jayden Butler
Literally who?
Mason Clark
It would have to be a bit more complicated than that, but I think it can be done.
Juan Russell
There's a good chance that doors work differently in solo and multi. Having areas reset when you enter a door just won't work well in multi.
Mason Scott
More info is needed.
Single player Mario starts on top of the fifth square from the edge. IFF the next player spawns on the fourth square from the edge, then it could trigger something right away. The trigger would either cause a difference, or prevent something.
Colton Murphy
Are we gonna be able to put our levels in worlds or packs? I wanna remake the land of the livid dead from Rayman Origins but its gonna need to be a few levels long for the whole thing.
Do players share their collected keys and red coins.
Justin Cooper
It's actually trivially easy. It might also be possible with a pipe, assuming you can prevent everyone entering it at the same time.
Nathan Lewis
it gets more revolting the more you scroll down the picture
Sebastian Wilson
You boys getting or physical? I can't make my mind up.
Owen Martin
I bet at E3 they're gonna show off multiplayer only tools, for example, a semi-solid block that turns solid after another player passes through or a door type that disappears after a player goes through it.
Logan Young
Physical, assuming it comes with the smm2 themed stylus.
Tyler Ross
Horizontally it feels horrible. Only get it if you intend to use the joycons as a pair.
Vertically it's great, though. Compared to the pro controller dpad it's a godsend.
Hudson Sullivan
It depends if things react differently between single-player and multi-player modes.
Will destroyed bricks remain destroyed? Will claimed power-ups remain claimed? Will killed enemies remain killed? Will more than one power-up appear from one box? Will boos know who to haunt? Will clouds know who to follow?
the 3D teleport might not be of much use to SMW levels. A lot of people aren't going to want to make many NSMB or 3D, because the climbing makes it easier to circumvent level designs.
Samuel Taylor
I'll let you in on a little secret, the majority of people are dumber than dirt, they work minimum wage jobs and gargle down whole pizzas while watching soap operas dont get angry when something you like doesnt have a wide appeal
Justin Collins
Which theme are you guys using to make levels ? for me its the NSMBU theme.
Joshua Barnes
vomiting_anime_girl.why
Justin Jackson
There's also a chance that multiplayer won't be allowed on courses that have doors or pipes. I can't think of a way to implement them that isn't broken in some manner.
Angel Watson
SMW. It has the best aesthetics and mechanics in my opinion. I honestly can't think of a good reason to pick any other theme right now.
Xavier Turner
Why? The others players doens't have to be teleported too since everyone's supposedly playing on their own Switch.
Brandon Thompson
Even without sub-worlds, they might have to be keeping track of elements even when they aren't on screen. Doors would have no impact on that, and a sub-world only increases the volume of items tracked without actually displaying any more of them on a screen.
Anthony Miller
This is the only game I would get a switch for Why should I pay for online
Gavin Morgan
I wonder how laggy Multiplayer will be. I have no doubt that even with the same amount of lag it won't be as terrible as Smash since It's not direct PvP(I mean it kinda is but in terms of objectives) , but how much will it affect gameplay?
i frequently play smash, dont get a ton of lag but when i do its annoying, as long as your wired or using 5.5ghz wifi close to your modem it probably wont be that bad,
Nicholas Peterson
On-line will probably be abysmal. Anyone seriously interested, will want to connect to friends in person.
Christopher White
Make one pipe lead to an underwater subworld that has 50 coins but even at top speed the timer runs out from pointlessly swimming through shitty boring back and fourth tunnels for so long. Some autist will keep trying it and waste hours thinking it's possible. You can also have one lead to an incredibly laggily bounce house that makes it impossible to do anything orher than turn the switch off. You can also put a 50/50 hammer bro randomizer that will make people think the correct path is a dead end.
Ian Stewart
I'm just gonna make comfy Super Mario World levels
I can think of a setup involving doors and a twomp, that works as long as doors reset enemy positions in single-player.
Asher Clark
People are going to play your level if it's fun to play. If they die over and over they're just going to get tired and skip it.
Your level has to be engaging and interesting. Not just hard for the sake of being hard.
Anthony Adams
You're severely overestimating children. If they walk forward without jumping and die they're going to skip.
Jace Scott
Physical. Just waiting for Best Buy to get that $70 one with 12 months up on their site.
Dylan Gutierrez
Anyone excited for this clearly hasn't played Mario Maker 1 or is really fucking stupid and forgets how bad Mario Maker 1 was. The game is going to be 99% trash, and the 1% good ones aren't even worth playing because Mario sucks without a world map. There's a reason why they haven't made a Mario game without a world map since the NES.
This game desperately needs a world map creator. Especially one where anyone can create a world map and put any levels they want on it, even if the levels weren't made by them.
Gavin Long
Mario Maker is about playing stages and having fun. It's not about "beating a goal" or "reaching an end" I had a blast with the first game and I only stopped playing because all stages became samey and stale.
Owen Hernandez
This is why they need to make it so you can only boo levels you've beaten. Otherwise you'll get children mass booing anything with some challenge to it.
Henry Perry
reminder that the dislike button exists and all that shit will get sent to reddit hell

let me play as luigi in singleplayer... also add the power ups that are missing from 3, and U

>Stumble upon some retarded ounga bounga level with 4 quadrillions ennemies and an hidden devstar somewhere >Have to spend half an hour searching for the star to dislike the level
I halfway hope there will be some method of transferring the old levels. They're on the server, both games are linked to our Nintendo accounts, how hard would it be?
I'm thinking of a setup where a thwomp and a conveyor race. ... The thwomp ideally will win if a player spawns to the left of player 1, and not in any other situation. ... The twomp's win will somehow prevent a vine from being released downward. The whole mechanism might be nudged left or right to check for specific numbers of players.
Dylan Hughes
Can you leave comments? People deserve to know their levels are trial and error kaizo garbage.
Colton Morris
Yeah but in the previous game you had to like the stage to leave one
John Evans
>Clear Condition is to be big mario >level is just a gigantic mess of question blocks >literally every single question block releases ANOTHER annoying enemy >random invisible block in some corner of the map has the mushroom
Alright then how come Mario World is the one everyone thinks is the best/second best even though it has the shittiest, blandest level design in the entire series?
Connor Edwards
It would be very easy to make levels that are unbeatable in multiplayer. Having the maker beat the level under a different ruleset if they want the level to be available for multiplayer would solve most of the issues, but doors and pipes would still remain very chaotic.
Isaiah Evans
It has by far the best mechanics and gameplay. SMB3 is just boring shit.
Lincoln Thompson
You could sketch things in MM1 right? I'd probably learn the moonrunes for garbage and call it a day.
Isaiah Ramirez
Wrong. It's because the world map and secret exits were amazing. The gameplay is trash, especially the cape that breaks the entire game and has an infinite supply.
Kayden Murphy
If we can still do costumes, I would continue my idea of doing an 8 level course with Waluigi at the helm. I only ever made the first level in MM1, but I have ideas for other levels back when I wanted to make my own 2D platformer before indie games made them over blown.
