Committing the first murder makes sense from an in-universe perspective, because there are more people who could be the blackened so your changes are statistically a little better

but from the point of view of people who have played the games, you KNOW that's never going to work. There has to be more than 1 trial naturally.

death games is a kino genre
check out The Belko Experiment and a little movie called Circle

If you want an outright visual novel there's Umineko.
But it goes off the rails at multiple points and is REALLY long.
