Kingdom Hearts 2

If your answer isn't Doom, get out of my sight

Doom is fantastic in that regard, but if someone else enjoys modding Morrowind to fuck more than Doom why would you shit on them?

Because Morrowind is open world and those kinda games are gay as fuck

They're gay as fuck without mods, but when you add in realistic driving physics, drug dealing, gang wars, jets that attack you, etc into GTA V for example it becomes a fantastic experience.

OP here
Fuck it post your favourite mods as well. Let's have a thread about modding, I don't see those very often.

Still, a linear single player expierence will always beat any open world game ever.
Just name ONE (1) open world mod that's as good or better than Arcane Dimensions

Morrowind. What amazes me most is that Morrowind modding is only getting better almost two decades after release.

how so?

I think it depends on what you're judging it on. A game like GTA V is extremely polished, it's visually stunning and can feel like a linear experience when it matters. You need mods to remove all of the bullshit in order to notice any of it, though. Rockstar played it safe with GTA V, with the Hotwheels car physics and removing tonnes of shit for PS3/360 compatibility. When you "fix" everything you really notice the love that went into building GTA's world and characters, despite what they had to cut out.

The graphics mods get slightly better each year, but beyond that there are custom questlines and all kinds of crazy overhaul mods coming out constantly.

mount & blade: warband

it has one of the best modding communities I've ever seen and is basically a sandbox rpg that you can spend a shit ton of time in

and the best part is that each play through is different from the last, especially when you can keep trying different revamp mods

Ouu good taste user

Year over year more mods are released, and they're generally more sophisticated. with MWSE and OpenMW out now, the amount has increased dramatically.

Sometimes I wonder if it's just because it needs mods to be enjoyable at all.

>spend 30 hours modding elder scrolls games to either be full meme or almost real games
>play for 20 minutes and uninstall

>Mod game painstakingly
>Spend hours playing it
>Get distracted or hit bug or something
>Try to come back to it months later
>It doesn't work or you're lost
>Start over
The only one that I've held onto is my porn one

The secret is to enjoy the process of modding as much as you enjoy playing the game.

Is it safe to play online normally if you have single player mods or do you need to choose between playing offline with mods or playing online?

I have a huge collection of cars online and I wouldn't want to lose them.

1300 hours here, mods make all the difference in this game.

>carefully mod Skyrim into a sexual paradise over the course of several days
>it's perfect, I am horny all the time while playing
>act out fetishes on my waifu, it's ecstasy
>fap and uninstall

I want it to be this but the mods aren't coming fast enough.

GTA IV

Hearts of Iron IV, have over 120 mods installed with over 700 hours played, there are some pretty based mods coming out in the future as well.

Agreed

More and more I realize that I don't.

Tedium, troubleshooting, following steps carefully, mod compatibility, bugs, glitches, shit not working properly, finding those obscure mods like a scavenger hunt, wasting so much time just trying to get the mods set up and working instead of enjoying the mods, its all so tiresome, modding has become tiresome.

OP here, I also love GTA IV modding almost as much as V. The zombie mods are fantastic.

Anyone know any good games that are fun to play endlessly without mods?

New Vegas

OP here, I suck cock

Kenshi. Some of the mods add huge sections to the game to the point that it feels essential
