I can see that. Kabuki-cho is fairly well realized setting

that gintama rumble game or whatever is actually pretty fun, and covers a surprising amount of the story. Its a musou game, some love it some hate it.

its almost a perfect fit -- the setting, humor, side missions and even story telling would work well
the combat could actually work well too; you could have each member of the Yorozura be a style or something

Shame that it went to shit after they gave it for Sunrise's sub studio Bandai Namco to produce. Both writing and animation took a dip, and the story in general got way too dark for Gintama. Sunrise era Gintama is still one of the best anime out there.

The studio switch? Bandai Namco started making Gintama from 2015 on. IIRC the arc where shogun gets killed was in that season.

Well the anime went to shit after the next arc. The production values started to decline bad and the subtitles are subpar compared to the manga which itself is great.
