This track had an absolutely perfect setup for a big emotional response.
>long stretch of silence before it
>first and only real instrument you here in the game
>when it comes, it is clear you are nearing the end
>The area it plays is so visually similar to one of the first areas
Honestly, the placement of the song does more than the song itself.
Honestly does not get enough credit for how they implemented that song
Cringe, get out kid the adults are talking.
All of Soule's TES soundtracks are great, but this song will always be the best at giving that feeling of adventure and exploration.
Nah, go post your crummy JRPG shit somewhere else.

This one makes makes me sad because a close friend died around the same time I first heard this song
Yeah that music upset me too it reminds me of a shitty meme game.
FFX may not be my favourite Final Fantasy, but god DAMN did they make good use of that leitmotif. Uematsu knocked that game's music out of the fucking park.

Literally the song you should learn if you've been taking lessons. Trust me, you'll be dropping panties with those opening notes.
No matter how much people shit on FFVIII, its the title that defines Final Fantasy for me. The setting was just incredible for me as a kid and I loved all the game locations, especially Balamb Garden and Esthar.
>Did Game of thrones popular twists years before Game of thrones was even a thing
This game was truly ahead of it's time
But you won't be able to bring them back user
With this I think it's more what the melody brings with it, i.e memories of your past. You start to wander of to your past and what you did then. How much more happy you were then.
I don't know bro, the suikoden games were my childhood. I want to go back.

I never understood why anybody could cry at a video game until I played Katawa Shoujo.
Great.
I didn't even play this game, but hearing this song broke something inside me.
youtu.be
this is a damn good one
Beat me to it. Here's another. youtu.be
Kek.
Used to think how silly /ksg/ is still ongoing. But now I just like how its one thing that never goes away like so many other things. Haven't played it since it came out by I might again soon
Low honour version is more depressing.
Is Spirit Tracks still worth playing if I generally don't like DS games?
I'd say play it again at least once. I don't know how old you were when you first played it, but I can say playing it years later as a fully grown adult gave the game a new perspective for me
Your opinion is correct.
Story time.
My dad was the one who introduced me to video games. Super Mario World. That was the first game I ever played. Him and I would play for hours, passing the controller back and forth and just having fun. Sometimes he'd come back from work with a stack of secrets and tips he printed off of cheat code sites at work. I still remember the feeling of beating it with him, watching the credits roll. It was the first time I ever felt accomplishment and comeradery. I felt like my dad and I did it together.
My father slowly started falling into alcoholism. He would come late from work because he stayed at the bar, he'd stay up late drinking himself into a stupour. He'd yell at my mom, brothers, and I. He stopped having time to play video games.
It eventually got so bad that my parents got divorced. My brothers and I legally needed to visit him every other weekend. I hated it. He'd yell at us, berate us, abuse us, ignore us, and just drink. As soon as I was over 18 and could legally decide to not go visit him anymore, I did. I went years without seeing him and only ever saw him during the holidays. I made sure to never be alone with him.
About five years ago now, my grandparents on his side passed away. They were selling their house, so I went to go see it one more time. My dad was there. It was just him and I, in the house that used to ensure we weren't alone.
We were quiet for a bit, but he spoke up first. He said he found something going through the old stuff in the garage. He pulled out a dusty SNES; the same one we would play on. He said he wanted to play like we used to. I didn't know what to say, but I hated to admit that I missed playing with him. Against my better judgement, I agreed.
We didn't really say anything setting up the console, and if we did I don't remember it. It felt weird being with him again, like I should have just left. After jiggling the RGB port and blowing on the cartridge a few times, SMW eventually started up. (1/2)
Here's another:
youtube.com
I've got both of you beat. Always got an Ethereal, holy, and slightly sorrowful vibe from this track.
youtube.com
youtube.com
Gets me every damn time.
Fucking hell, I loved this game.
I'm sorry for you, user. I would say something trite like "abusive parents suck," but I honestly cannot comprehend how awful that must have been.
youtube.com
Bahamut in particular, that kid had heart.
I felt like a kid again. All the memories, all the emotions, they all came back. I remember trying not to cry in front of him.
We played until we beat the World 2 ghost house. It was getting late and I knew I had to go. We packed up the console and he put it back in the bag he had it in. He handed it to me and said I'd probably appreciate it more than he would. I looked inside and it was every game we played together when I was a kid. I was convinced he'd sold it all for alcohol money, but he kept them all packed away. I started to think maybe he cared as much as I did, maybe he misses me and wants to go back to the way things were before. He asked if I wanted to meet up for lunch some time, and I was brought back down to Earth to see the man who stood before me was not the same one I had just played video games with. I said I'd love to.
I never went to lunch with him.
Since then he's continued to do exactly the same things he always has. He's still an alcoholic, he still calls my brothers and I while he's drunk to talk about everything but anything that shows he has any real interest in our personal lives, and we still only ever see him at the holidays when we know we're not alone with him.
I still have that SNES. It's still in the same bag he handed it to me in. Miraculously, the save file from when I was a kid is still in tact. I don't know how much longer I have before it's corrupted, but while it's still there I sometimes plug it in and beat Bowser to watch the ending again.
That credits sequence is the only place the father I grew up with still lives.
I just posted the song to say I wanted to go back to being a kid. I'm so fucking sorry, user.
>I never went to lunch with him.
Why not?
Why is the world such an awful place sometimes?
>Seliph avenges Sigurd and his ghost tells him to be humble and remember how the average person suffered more than he did
Still a great character after he dies; 10/10.
I miss you, bro.
found the homo.
He's not right in the head. The time we saw him just before that, he got angry at my brother for not telling him he was at the hospital and threatened to punch him and put him back in.

Bruh crying

It doesn't make me cry but it does make me contemplative in a depressed kind of way.
that was a boring ass story man
when the hell did this play?
its the credits song for 3
youtube.com
Always thought it was funny how happy a soundtrack this game has also ends with this, but it's a really great track all the same.
>he didn't watch the credits
I don't remember this for some reason
I thought i was the only one
I feel like it didn't really strike me the first time around, but after I played through the game another time and internalized everything about the Boss it hit me so fucking hard.
youtube.com
I remember hating this game as a kid but would load it just for the music and zone out contemplating all the things that would change in my future. I remember trying to visualise how games would look in 20yr time. They definitely exceeded expectations visually.
My big brother killed himself around the time i beat this so i can never get to the end without thinking of him
I'm sorry to hear that, user. I hope you're doing okay.
good shit user
he hated paper mario that much huh

The horns in this song are the same horns played when Miracle Fassad talks.

Shit I still have that game. Bringing back memories.
I remember playing this game all the time as a kid without knowing what the fuck was I doing

Don't you guys have a deep feeling of sadness after the 0:45 mark? as if the game itself is regretting existing or something, it makes me want to cray

Hotline Miami is the greatest indie series of all time. The devs really understood how to make a fun game with very confusing and compelling story.

Not vidya music, but this is my favourite album and it helped me through a period in my life that was very similar to yours. Take care, friend.

For what it's worth, I didn't feel sad at all when my grandmother died of cancer. I had seen her a few times lying in a bed in hospice care and after she died all I could think was how her suffering was finally over. There's nothing wrong with not crying about the loss of a loved one, user.
I haven't played FFXI in 11 years but there isn't a day that goes by that I don't hum the ronfaure theme at least once, it's impossible to get out of my head.

Absolutely. For all the shit it used to get as "Babby's first VN" until DDLC came along, Katawa Shoujo filled holes in my heart that I didn't even know I had. It and Princess Tutu are the only pieces of media centered specifically around romance that I have ever enjoyed, and it is my favorite vidya ever. Not to oversell it or anything, it may not be your cup of tea. But give it a shot.

Usually I'm the only one that posts that in these threads. It was the very first game I ever beat to completion all by myself, and they let you go on the most bittersweet note. You're happy you had your giant Kirby adventure, but you're also sad to see it go. You know there won't be another one like it, but there's still going to be more to look forward to so it's not all bad. The acoustic version fucks me over even worse.

user I wish there was something I could say without sounding trite and cliche, but I can't, that really is horrible. I've family with alcoholism, and that feeling of having to personally avoid someone close to you because of how unbearable they rots away at you
Try at least to hold onto that memory of him for as long as you can, because if you can't love your family for who they are now, you should at least try to love the person they used to be
My home away from home. I want to go back.
Liking weebshit is the most nornalfag thing you can do, degeneate. It's almost as mainstream as capeshit.
I do want to learn piano or violin someday. But it's hard to find time to get to classes.
I work anywhere between 8-16 hours a day. On top of that, I'm boxing and hoping to compete in the Golden Gloves next year.
But music is always something I've been passionate about. I can read it, even if I can't play anything. So who knows. Maybe someday user

I didn't play it, but my brother said it was pretty good stand alone game. If you can get your hands on it, give it a go. I would
>he hates everything

>What you do from here on, won't serve any purpose. You will never see the whole picture... And it's all your own fault.
I'll never get over this game
Nothing will ever come close to being as revolutionary and memorable as that first playthrough.
>Leaving this world isn't as scary as it sounds
how old were you?
D.Dogma damn you, wasn't ready for that nostalgia...
really? maybe it's because i've never paid much attention to sonic music and don't even know what the stage this is from looks like, but this seems pretty upbeat to me.
fuck you
why did it have to end bros?
I wanna go back to being a kid and play zero 1-4 again for the first time. I want to relive that magic.
Came here to post this.
When the Diablo anniversary event hit back in legion. I had such a good time. [i still have the scrolls]
Before leaving the game for good at the end of Legion, among all the wacky things I'd do. I'd use the [Twelve string guitar] toy in town around others, just to hear this.
I'm not going back to Wow retail or classic. But I'll always look back
Be happy it ended.
Oh wait.
>played this game a lot
>don't remember any of the songs
wtf
see you on august 27th
was looking for this
I was 5 when I first played it. Genuinely blew my fucking mind how a game like that could even exist.
This song is always what i think of when i think of "sad music". Secret of Mana had such good music.
youtube.com
Also it might be the only song the remaster didn't totally fuck up.
youtube.com
I grew up with Red/Blue more than Gold/Silver, but this theme wrecks me.
When I'm depressed and drinking, I'll sometimes listen to "Heres to you"
youtube.com
>the last part of it does it for me
this song fucked me up (LISA spoilers)
>that part where the music box slows down and has to be rewound
wow, i never noticed that part before.
>FlyFF ost
i want to go back bro...
I hate my fucking life and I want my happiness back.
the space station theme in this was pretty "muh nostalgia" I guess
Before the game came out, I started my first job, this was the first game I bought with my first pay. I honestly didn't expect much.
But this moment watching tv with the gf. I remembering just watching this scene for maybe half an hour
When I finally beat the game. I kind of just sat there for awhile
I haven't felt anything like that in a long time, in or out of video games
youtube.com
But it's Theme of Love that tends to get to me more than anything else.
I'll never forget what it feels like to have real friends, comrades and guildmates
youtube.com
I haven't even played Gothic 3 yet, but this gets to me, it makes me sad/nostalgic for something I haven't even experienced and now I don't want to play go play it because of how it could have been
Okami's pacing is insanely uneven but man that ending makes it all worth it.
ordon village makes me cry, too.
youtube.com
The site went to shit but I still liked the game
>first time walking to payon
>this shit plays
>14 years later
>still remember it perfectly
maybe i should sleep this off bros
all the times over the years I've started a new character to share a playthrough with friends, every time I've played with my brother, or just starting over again to get someone new into the game
it's always this song
I haven't played bloodborne yet but I aim to
But I played DS2 the most and this theme is so soothing
youtube.com
I've never heard of this game but after reading the wiki page i think i want to track down the PS1 version sometime to play it.

the composers mother died right before he worked on this
>tfw TF2 was my go to game and I've found it unplayably shit ever since it went F2P
I'll never forgive Valve for not just leaving it the fuck alone after the Heavy Update, the game was perfect then.
>Played through this about seven times on the hardest difficulty
>Always chose the good ending
I can't believe it's been nine years.
>the theme being whistled
>all these mother 3 posts
>no gymnopedie
youtube.com
It's not really game music, it's previously existing music that was implemented in a game.
youtube.com
>Your son will bring the world to ruin
>Your son will save the world

Every song from Diablo 1 is a 10/10 but especially Tristram
Wandering Flame is the one that hits me the most in that game, the mood is so heavy.

even if you hate sonic 06, this scene of sonic looking up to the moon with the orchestra is one of the most beautiful things i've seen in vidya ever
man KS really had a good soundtrack, that and rin's route fucked me up youtube.com
and the song that makes me real sad and melancholic is youtu.be
yes, i prefer the red rescue team version because it was the version i played and for some reason feels more authentic the thought that we will never have another mistery dungeon like rescue team or explorers of: makes me real sad, the music, the artstyle, the story..... everything was real good with these games and i miss my childhood, so many memories and moments that will never repeat and that "when you grow up you will understand" quote that we all heard at some point, i kind of understand peter pan i wish i used my time as a child more responsibly and enjoyed it even more
I saw Memories of You and The City but not the one that truly destroys a man

i still miss Iwata you guys
God, I love Gymnopedie. Don't know what it is about it, but I can listen to it for hours on end.
It's just so soothing and oddly nostalgic to me. It puts me in such a unique mood that I can not even explain.

Subspace Emissary was so terrible. Played like the shittiest Kirby game ever made, such a disappointment.
Late as fuck to this thread, but the ambiance of this game was a treat and it's a shame more people don't talk about it.

Minecraft music is kino
shit taste
youtu.be
flaws of the game aside, this track came out of left field and really flavored an otherwise dull battle
Let me guess, you were a kid when you played it? It was pretty widely considered to be shit at the time.
Stop jerking off and playing video games every day user, you're putting too much dopamine into your receptors, making your brain inefficient at making it's own dopamine. Boredom will come, followed by joy.
t. anhedonic
no love for silent hill? never played but am in love with the ost for sh2. deep melancholic vibes throughout
based, came here to post this. unashamed to say this scene made me tear up back in middle school

MGS3, Mother 3, Silent Hill 2, and Lisa are all the ultimatum of sorrow games.
Live to forget is pure kino.
I'll still miss you assholes
When Yea Forums eventually dies for real
Gwyns theme is always talked about but Nameless Song is the real gut-puncher
SH2 has a great story that's super depressing, well worth playing if you like the OST and the vibe it gives, I'm this faggot here
Don't you know user? We're here forever
I want to leave and get this instant gratification bullshit out of my head and go for a long time with no video games, porn, social media or whatever else. I want to be able to go outside and feel the same joy I did when I was a child, but I'm still stuck here in this hole of numbing comfort.
I love Bully’s soundtrack so much.
youtu.be
tl;dr, fagski
>he doesn't remember the comic of the old man old fag crying while remembering Yea Forums because the future internet will probably whether by killing it directly or becoming something new kills off Yea Forums
>sad war song
>it's just generic, bland music that could just as easily be in any hollywood war movie made in the past 3 decades
youtube.com
it fucking destroyed me.
didn't help that i had to listen to it 6 times to get all the endings
This but unironically
Pretty underrated game
the only post I was waiting for
Unless Yea Forums is directly involved in some major scandal I don't see it being taken down or forgotten. Despite what some of us have lead ourselves to think, it's not a sooper secret club anymore and it's the premier place for western anonymous imageboard conversations. Yea Forums has a certain reputation to it that any future competition would have to match if they wanted a crack at the market. infinitechan is probably the closest we have (that I know of) and it's shit.
Not to mention Yea Forums still makes money, so it'll keep turning until we die.
Holy fucking reddit kys

it's been downhill since the project chanology bullshit. the phoneposters and election tourists only make it worse.
i'd still rather be here than any other website, mind you.
To the moon was fucking legendary, there is no way any game could top that off, but Finding Paradise is also good, not AS good, not even close, but I still had a good time
Anzeray? Is that you?
haven't heard this in so long.
Culture is dying, but profits aren't. The site won't go down until the cash flow stops. Zoomers just contribute to a steady decline in culture that began in early 2010s.
You're here forever.
Then go outside, nigga.
>b-b-but the sun
Get a job then. It'll take your mind off your hormone pills and get you set straight.
Did here forever mean that I just get to watch it decay?

I'm sorry

this got me hard while playing chapter 10 for the first time, It was perfectly executed
God, no other media has ever made me full on sob the way To The Moon did. I wish there was more stuff out there that could make me feel so strongly.
Finding Paradise is great, in terms of gameplay it's a significant improvement and they're taking the plot with the doctors in a pretty interesting direction. I don't think the main plot hits the same emotional highs as To The Moon but it has its moments.
man, this was a good fucking thread. Thank you, everyone
fuck you faggot i love pepe i love wojak praise kek
See you again...

The scene that this song goes with is great as well.
