Mario 64 is a glitchy mess with inferior gameplay. Compare koopa shells with skateboarding (which in and of itself is just a part of the larger whole) and the difference in quality is obvious.

Spyro came out years after Mario 64, ad Spyro would have likely been way lower quality if Mario 64 didn't set the bar for 3D platformers as high as it did.
Also PS1 had better graphical capabilities than the N64 so the graphics comparison isn't fair.

Do people actually enjoy the platforming in Spyro? The levels are all so flat and the actual movement is slow and sluggish because the character is on four legs.
