In Europe, for the most part we don't really have the Nintendo centric culture NA has.
NA, specifically, built their Nintendo centric culture with NES, SNES, N64 etc.
Then it started to die off a bit with the GC and PS2 took over worldwide, plus the Xbox came in and so on.

In most of the EU, we didn't experience what you call "the video game crash", wich actually was a NORTH AMERICAN CONSOLE CENTRIC CRASH, most of the EU at that point in time was PC centric (tho not the "PC" scene that you're familiar with).
The console culture in most of the EU started with the PSX.
So the EU has a Sony centric console culture, for the most part.
Nintendo, right now, it's on a better spot it's been in the past worldwide (excluding insane booms periods like the Wii era).
But the stigma of Nintendo hardware being "kiddy consoles" added to the fact that the kind of person that plays FIFA and sports games on consoles would definitely never touch a switch, explains this apparent discrepancy.

Are you trying to sell me the Switch or something? No need, I already enjoy it. FIFA is the household couch/online game, not something on the go. People that have a console only to play FIFA want only one console, usually the PS4 in, say, Spain. It cannot compete in this market, it doesn't have the graphics and it has quite a few years of delay. It barely worked on the PSP, either.

I'd say the master system more than anything. Sega was pretty popular over there and the master system in particular did better than the NES in EU. There are a ton of PAL exclusive master system games because of how much longevity the console had.

Nowdays this is simply not true, especially after the Wii boom.
Nintendo is seen as a "kiddy" company for manchildren but one could say the same for NA anyway, the Switch is selling pretty well in EU right now.

And no, the price has nothing to do with it, i don't understand why anons are obsessing over the price, specifically.
Games on the Switch do tend to cost more on average but video gaming in general is expensive as a hobby unless you're exclusively playing on PC.
Maybe anons in this thread SPECIFICALLY think about slavs when they think EU, wich yes, they do tend to be poor, and they do tend to still be extremely PC centric also pirating everything, but they're hardly the majority rapresentation of the entirety of the EU audience as a whole.
There's a reason why slav games are such a niche, and even in the EU itself not everyone plays shit like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and such.
