It's got nothing to do with that and everything to do with portability. The Japanese have little to no interest in home gaming anymore, if it's not portable they barely buy it. This is the same reason the Wii U crashed and burned in Japan, and why the the only country the Vita saw good sales in was Japan. The Vita actually outsold the Wii U and for the first year or two the PS4 was out it was outselling the PS4 there.

Japanese lifestyle makes home consoles worthless, it's not a big surprise.
The PS4 struggled to sell more than the fucking Vita in Japan until two years ago, and it has barely 3 millions more units than the Vita NOW.
Hell Vita versions of most games used to outsell the PS4 versions too, why do you pretend that the PS4 is any sort of milestone in japanese soil?
