The thing is, if you start a new game and don't do any quests for the ncr and stay at neutral without increasing or decreasing your rep, you may eventually be approached by rangers telling you to form an alliance or they will start sending hit squads after you.

I've had it happened to me once. They basically told me they couldn't have anybody running around the Mojave without knowing if they're friend or foe, and that I'd better start an alliance soon.

I'd recommend a melee based ninja build, but then again stealth was massively nerfed in NV so it's not really viable outside of long range sniping. So many enemies (especially in the DLC's) are scripted to just ignore your stealth level and detect you anyway because fuck you Josh Sawyer knows better.

I still say unarmed is the king. Spiked knuckles are the best holdout weapon, and the ballistic fist is fucking amazing.
