Why is Japan so based Yea Forums?

Fuck off Snoy, it's objectively a solid 8/10 game. Sure it's not as good as Wind Waker, Ocarina, ALTTP or Majora's Mask but that doesn't make it a bad game

So... it's a poll for their favorite game of all time? There were no good games before 1989

Their favorite games of the last 30 years

I'll rephrase, brainlet. Quit posting the Yea Forums list that changes every week.

Why is Japan's taste so good? The only questionable choice on that list is Ocarina of Time over A Link to the Past.

Meanwhile Yea Forums's taste is primarily trash. Only Nier, Chrono Trigger, ALttP, SMW, Super Metroid, and SotN deserve to be on the list.

Breath of the Wild was GOTY 2017, and that's even with stiff competition from Odyssey, NieR: Automata, and Hollow Knight. It's still a contrarian opinion to hate it, and it'll always be contrarian.

Both Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest fans love the game. Two of the biggest gaming fanbases in Japan liking a game is obviously going to equal massive popularity.

It was pretty genre redefining when it came out, like many of the SNES classics. We still follow the formulas set by SNES games to this day. How many games released to this day still ape structure/style/pacing/mechanics/themes from:
>Super Mario World
>Super Metroid
>Chrono Trigger
>A Link to the Past
>Kirby Super Star and Dreamland 3
>Megaman X
>Street Fighter

And then there are plenty of other genre defining games from that era that weren't SNES titles
>Touhou
>Half Life
>Pokemon
>Quake
>Starcraft
>Symphony of the Night
>Super Mario 64
>Smash 64
>Resident Evil
>Metal Gear Solid

I don't hate it but it's no masterpiece

I've played close to 300 video games over the course of 20 years, and I can't really think of a game that gets closer to being a masterpiece than BotW. It's by no means perfect, and has tons of flaws, but it's the best we've got.
