From what I saw the big problem with Bless was the devs changing a bunch of shit for the western release after everyone got hyped up because of the japanese version. So when Bless got to the west it was pretty different than what people were expecting. Maybe that's wrong, I'm mostly going off of what I've read around here since I wasn't really into Bless. So if people actually like this version of A:IR and the devs don't change it a bunch it should do better than Bless.

korean/japan had a different combat system that was pretty enjoyable then they moved it to this new shit and it was universally hated and devs doubled down on it instead of changing it
then releaseing with like 1/10th the content korea had and slowly like super fucking slowly dripping it out as "new" content turn off a lot of people
everything we were promised was a lie and we're still not caught up to the korean/japan versions yet and it's been like a year

and now we have bless unleashed an actual overhaul of bless that looks okay and bless mobile another cash grab

This. There is no midcore content in MS2. There is only braindead bullshit and hardcore content that you need a static for or a group of experienced players. There's no content that you can jump in first time, expect to wipe, but know that your group of randoms will clear it within the first 3 tries

Well good news they literally removed all the "daily chores", chaos raids got made a lot easier with the reworked progression, and the game is in a much better state economically than it was before.
Gem upgrades are guaranteed, epic pets are 6x easier to get, fusing accessories is cheaper, legendary equips and accessories are tradeable, etc

It's worth another shot the "New Leaf" thing they did actually made a lot of good changes.

FFXIV has like half a million players which is pretty good, ESO is doing really well, GW2 and EVE have always had very stable playerbases in the tens of thousands, classics like Maplestory 1 and Lineage II are also very populated.
