2011 was when I discovered it, I don't remember what version it was but it was bliss playing this whenever I could back then. Making tree house fortresses, checkerboard mazes, stairways to the bottom of the map, running a server with my friend and modding the shit of our games while listening to Coldplay are the fondest memories I have of Minecraft. A few months before the beta came out. It was fun but my interest was mostly off and on with it. Playing with friends was either a hassle to get together more than just occasionally and solo could get boring.

I saw a lot of people dipped as the newer updates changed things, but I found most of them only positive. It's just my interest in dumping hours and hours to explore and build all alone in a sandbox environment diminished over the years, and my few friends interested in the game are still hard to play with regularly.

Something you're also overlooking is that shifts happen gradually. 2010 was the point of no return, but things had declined incrementally long before. When I say 2005-2009 were "kino", I don't mean they were perfect. What I mean is the boomer elements/good parts outweighed the bad parts, and they still had a general atmosphere reminiscent of the 90s and early 2000s.
Once again, the atmosphere died in 2010. Doesn't mean there weren't bad parts before.

Once again, I feel like the Golden Age ended around fall of '09. So I'm semi-inclined to agree with you, but at the same time, I feel it's hard to pinpoint an exact moment things went to shit.
I like to say 2010 was the year everything changed, but the fact that fall of '09 had "warning signs" proves that it wasn't as instantaneous a change as I like to think.

Technic has a ton of packs since they made it so people can make their own packs to put on the launcher.
MultiMC has no packs by itself, but you can import packs from FTB and Curse or just make your own from scratch which is pretty easy since it can automatically install forge.

absolutely crazy how fast time went by, i discovered it in indev but didn't pick it up till beta 1.3.
i can't believe how the fuck i was able to tolerate the absolute mess that was my world as seen on the pic there, with all the holes and so on. back then that citadel on the left that i made i thought that was the sickest thing on the whole planet. i also was a shithead when it came to world orientation and never strayed far on that world because i was scared of losing my base. basically ripped the area of it's resources to build a barely functional rollercoaster. was a blast to find out there was a dungeon underneath my house, back then that shit was regarded as rare.

one thing i remember very well and not fondly is how you had to watch yourself with the modding, there was no forge launcher so you had to manually insert the files into the minecraft appdata folder complete with a modloader thing and whatnot.
anybody remember what was the file thing that people on youtube always told you to remove, as it had to do something with the game conflicting with the mods? damn that thing never got a rest, always ended up in my trash bin

I think it was around 2010 when I started playing, but I can't remember. I do remember that there used to be a "demo" version you could play on the Minecraft website, where you played worlds with a limited amount of space, and you were also in Creative mode without no-clip.
