I tried rogue but clearly I'm just too old and grumpy to enjoy them, I can't handle how fucking long these games set up times are before I'm allowed to play it

First one was based. AC2 was as well. Brotherhood was good, but by then you were less assassin, more killing machine. They added that mechanic where if you got one kill you could one hit every dude that was left. You never had to be sneaky. In the first one, you better hustle when you got your kill.

How big is the game in terms of length and content?
I’m assuming it’s not as big as Black Flag since, from what I remember, it was only $40 at launch.

If they want to make it closer to black flag then they can delay it as many times as they want. Who the fuck thought it would be a great idea to have only your ship be controllable and online-only?

It's one of the shortest AC games,
less chapters, and less missions per chapters,
but still has a very sizable 3 maps that open up when you finally get your own ship
it's worth it

almost exactly the same,
the biggest change is instead of dropping explosive barrels behind your ship, you drop burning oil that spreads over the water
this may not sound major, but it opens up a lot of options in terms of movement in ship to ship combat. not needing to constantly position for cannons against those chasing you
the barrels were never worth the time using before

Black Flag has 13 chapters for comparison
the maps are still very sizable though, story missions don't even take you through a third of the areas in them
2 naval maps, and New York
good amount of content in them with forts, plantations, gang houses to take control over

Started playing this with some friends at the beginning of the year, it’s great fun and I shittalked the fuck out of it when it first came out. Screaming at Xbots while we sink their ships makes me cry in laughter every time.

Played the shit out of the ship combat in Black Flag. Crazy fun. Shame it was attached to a shitty boring AC game, but you could pretty much ignore that aspect of it IIRC.

My guess if they've re-tooled it into a World of Warships style pay-to-win microtransaction-riddled free-to-play.

It's ship controls only, no first person camera/controls

they recently said there is going to be a singleplayer mode but we don't know how it's going to look like, it could be a story mode or a Sid Meier's Pirates! "sandbox progress and evolve over time" deal or multiplayer but with bots.
