Why is the Switch lacking so hard in the jrpg genre?
I would really like to play Xenoblade 2 but cant justify buying Switch only for the one exclusive jrpg
SMT V is nowhere in the sight, is there even anything new announced?
Why is the Switch lacking so hard in the jrpg genre?
XBC2 isn't even that good, it does that nu-square enix thing where the game more or less plays itself and the player has severely limited options on how battles really play out
Just watch a let's play of it
Get it for the definitive version of Persona 5.
>DQ11S
>DQB2
>SMTV
i'm okay this this
>DQ 11
On ps4 and pc
>DQB2
on ps4
>SMT V
we know the title and literally nothing else
probably 2020 or later
DQ11S
not DQ11
>but the game second time for 1 hour of extra content
Octopath Traveler won't be nearly as comfy on PC as it is on Switch. Get that.
thanks for beta testing
Not him but you’re only interested in exclusive jrpgs? Because most consoles are limited in that department, but every console has multiplat jrpg’s. But the switch has the benefit of being a handheld so you can play it laying down
So I have this stupid ass NEET, hipster, edgelord, pedo of an acquaintance from an old site from years ago who says this game isn't a JRPG because it's not turn based. Opinions on this? It pisses me off IMO.
I already played plenty on Switch, and some of them are really really long games like Xenoblade 2, Octopath, Labyrinth of Refrain or Disgaea 5.
I also played Phantasy Star, Romancing Saga 2, TWEWY, YS VIII and there's some on my wishlist.
I agree it lacks a few exclusives, but who the fuck cares anyway.
user you’re friend sounds retarded, at no point has the jrpg genre ever meant “turn based” there are tons of non-turn based jrpg’s, your friend probably just hasn’t played very many jrpg’s or he’s just braindead
Get a PC, it can already emulate switch
>plays itself
What do you mean? I mean taking advantage of invulnerability is mandatory unless you grind for almost all late game side bosses and the game does not tell you to abuse this mechanic at all.
I have ps4 and pc so I cant really justify buying switch for the multiplats
It doesn't matter that much, the Switch just outsold the PS4 in Japan despite not having as much JRPGs.
oh no we aren't friends. I just can't get rid of the guy. The dude is stuck in the past and super obsessive about being right. Batshit insane type, really. The tirade he went on about Xenobalde as a series not being a jrpg like "FF" of "Dragon Warrior" (not quest mind you). It's easier to just let the man entertain himself with being right. He complained about the difficulty of Xenoblade 1 and how the level scaling was broken without even reaching the spider boss.
I see, as I said it’s worth it just for the comfiness that comes from being able to play them in your bed. Not sure if jrpg’s are the only genre you’re interested in but there are lots of other exclusives on the switch. I have a PS4 as well and I still use my switch to play a lot of games available elsewhere
What is the best dungeon crawler on the Switch?
The feeling I got from most of the game is that these things just happen by themselves, there's very little room for you (the player) to manipulate breaks and such because you don't control 66% of your party and barely have any attacks to take advantage of.
You still have some input, but the results just feel like the only natural way to do things. Like it wasn't me who decided to play this way, the game only plays in one way and I can either follow it or roll my dick over the controller and win by sheer luck or lose.
That guy's a retard. JRPG isn't a term that describes gameplay, it literally just means Japanese Role-playing Game. Dark Souls, Xenoblade, Kingdom Hearts, The World Ends With You are all JRPGs despite not being turn-based.
I want to know this, too.
Yea Forums can be an alright place, sometimes. Thanks for the input, Glad to know i'm not the only one who thinks this dude's a dumbass.
>the game more or less plays itself
t. Hasn't played the game pass Chapter 2, if at all (probably only watched the Dunkey video and pretends he played the game)
If you're stupid enough to rely on auto-attacks for damage you're legit fucking braindead.
It has 4 FF games, World of FF, Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea, Octopath, and DQXIS soon. SMTV sometime and Pokemon if you are into that.
Not really. The battle system is just somewhat poorly explained but nothing difficult to pull off. The challenge is not in technical inputs, but in proper timing and preparation; the fun thing is doing ridiculous damage by abusing Fusion combos/Driver combos.
HAHAHAHAHAHA. Just get over it faggot, you can emulate it right now. Buy a PS4 if you really wanna play P5R that badly or shut the fuck up, port beggers are worms undeserving of pity.
labyrinth of refrain for now probably
Fuck, I forgot about Pokemon
I will wait for the Sw/Sh reviews and opinion on Yea Forums and then I will maybe buy Switch for the Christmas with Xenoblade 2, Pokemon and Smash
I hope that they wont fuck up Sw/Sh
I like how this image has been GIS'd enough that it straight-up suggests the name of the anime
Don't get your hopes up, Game Freak hasn't made a good Pokémon game since the DS. Also I wouldn't trust the "Yea Forums consensus" until at least a year after the fact. Reminder that gen 6 and 7 were praised at launch, even here.
You are completely retard nigger scum. XC2 has the best JRPG combat of all time. OF ALL TIME.
>XC2 has the best JRPG combat of all time.
SMT4:A wants to talk with you
Octopath wouldn't be comfy even if you played it in heaven. Not that heaven would accept that vile piece of trash
You are an absolute retard. If J simply denoted the country of origin, the term JRPG would be fucking useless considering the diversity of RPGs made in Japan.
I'm guessing you order french fries exclusively from France too, you retarded nigger monkey.
Not about to play poor mans Persona just for the combat. 5 was disappointing enough.
Mad
>XC2 has the best JRPG combat of all time. OF ALL TIME.
It's barely even mid tier at best, nigger.
He is here! The man that doesn't know the compound word turn-based!
I'm mad that poor people like yourself were born with nuggets of shit attached to their taste buds
>games plays itself
So you didn’t play it then. XC games will relentlessly sodomize you if you don’t learn how their combat works.
>I'm guessing you order french fries exclusively from France too
You do know only a few other languages outside of retarded anglos are so stupid to call them french fries, do you?
Why do you think the term JRPG even exists retard? It's used to distinguish Western RPGs with Japanese RPGs due to their difference in STYLE. Therefore, it's a genre. Undertale is a JRPG. Child of Light is a JRPG, South Park games as well as Steamworld Quest.
>it's this retard again
Thanks for proving my point. Nobody bothers to mention a country of origin to describe a product, unless the genre gets named after that country.
>Why do you think the term JRPG even exists
To differentiate RPGs made in the West and in Japan.
>would really like to play Xenoblade 2
The fuck is wrong with you?
>Why is the Switch lacking so hard in the jrpg genre?
unfortunately, the modern nintendo audience only buys bing bing shit and party games, so it's a waste of time and money to make jrpgs for the switch.
>I would really like to play Xenoblade 2 but cant justify buying Switch only for the one exclusive jrpg
you're not missing anything. it's a terrible game that gets overrated on Yea Forums because it's a nintendo exclusive.
As long as you don't think the turn based battles define the genre because otherwise you's a dumbo.
>not wanting to experience the best Xeno game in over a decade
>JRPG isn't a term that describes gameplay
eh, it sort of does. jrpgs don't look, feel or play like wrpgs, even when they aren't turn-based.
That's a funny joke
>XC2 has the best JRPG combat of all time. OF ALL TIME.
I-PLAYED-3-JRPGS-TOTAL: the post
