>soulsborne
>metroidvania
Soulsborne
I've always hated the term metroidvania. It implies that Symphony of the Night is on equal footing with Super Metroid.
>roguelike
>roguelite
>Katawa Shoujo general
Yeah, it far exceeds it.
>the dark souls of third person action games
Fucking this
SotN is so much better the genre should just be called Castlevania
>lootshooter
>singleplayerMMO
>people key a term.
>people don’t like new term.
>people can’t think of better term.
More news at 11.
Why is it so hard for people to say "3D Action RPG" or "2D Exploration Game"
>#3644
>they lost count once
>unga bunga me don't like thing
>they've lost count a few times and restarted from 1
>Fundamentally broken gameplay and a second half that literally nobody likes playing
>Hurr but I lik-
Lmao fag
Alright wise guy what would you call them then?
3D beat em ups?
Open world 2D platformers?
Imagine taking offense in one of the most generic responses.
Fuck both Shitvania and Diarrheatroid.
I can’t really think of a good reason I hate these terms so much other than they just sound stupid.
the RPG mechanics were a mistake.
why can't Devs define their games difficulty and keep it that way.
Speak the King’s English, you schizo
Speak my dick up your ass.
>game is somewhat difficult
>"It's a Soulslike"
videogames for children, like they all are
>Yea Forumsirgin
>game has nothing to do with souls mechancis
>it's a soulslike and people rate it with souls games
>lose resources on death, have to regain them from where you died
>limited real-time heal system that forces you to find openings in combat
It's definitely not a soulslike, but it clearly snatched one or two Souls tricks to meld into its Metroidvania core, probably to compliment the complete Souls ripoff story.
it has a similar setting, story, and atmosphere to DS plus the death mechanic.
rogu
elite?
I'm more surprised about the existence of the Sonic general
the death mechanic is originally rogue lite anyway
And Diablo used it extensively.
Ultima as well, where you dropped everything upon death.
even if dark souls was the one to first do it, having one mechanics ripped from it doesn't make the game a souls-like, ffs you drop your gold on shovel Knight upon death, is that now suddenly considered a souls like?
This happens in roguelikes where your future characters exist in the same world as your dead ones. You can find your body and take your stuff.
A lot of the time you've become undead though and have to kill yourself to take your stuff from you.
>die to something dumb late game
>go there on a new character and your old character is a wargod zombie fully benefiting from all your items and skills
>GTAclone
>Doomclone
>shlooters
there is nothing wrong with those terms
>Soulsborne: talking about specifically the Souls games made by From
>Metroidvania: talking about Castlevania games that aren't styled like Classicvanias
I see no proble-
>HUUR HURR I'M MISTA RETARD AND MY FAVOWITE METROIDVANIA IS HOLLOW KNIGHT TEE HEE FOLLOWED CLOSELY BY SUPER METROID AHAHA
okay nevermind, Metroidvania users are fucking retards
>HUUR HURR I'M MISTA RETARD AND MY FAVOWITE METROIDVANIA IS HOLLOW KNIGHT TEE HEE FOLLOWED CLOSELY BY SUPER METROID AHAHA
Why do you have to strawman this so much?
>It's just an RPG with no stats beyond weapon dps
>It's one of the biggest genres of the 8th gen
How did this happen
> HUUR HURR
This but unironically
>pokemon acronyms
That is good joke.
let me do a community service and help the "Metroidvania" brainlets. Is your game not in this image? It isn't a Metroidvania.
Soulsborne is fucking stupid, just call it souls.
>but its not in the name
Who gives a fucking shit, they're all basically souls games in every way but name.
What you have a problem with Soulsbournekiro? What is your problem my dude? Heh "just call it Souls" that is a silly suggestion. After-all Souls games aren't simply 3D Action RPGs! No! They are their own genre! Just like Cookie-and-Creambournes
So that's what PR stands for.
