Playing Pillars of Eternity

>playing Pillars of Eternity
>pretty fun even if I don't follow what the fuck is happening during bigger battles
>hear about low level spells becoming "per encounter" at higher levels so I can actually use them instead of hoarding
>turns out that since 3.0 patch, they changed that to ONE selected spell becoming ONE cast per encounter

Aby other examples of bullshit balance?

Why all balances in games must always be about nerfing and no fun allowed approach?

Because obsidian is about subverting everything. Even fun.
That's why they're a shit company and I hope they all slip away into unemployment quietly forever.

But how can company making games hating fun? Vidya exist to provide fun and rpgs are about building powerful party or characters...

iirc it was like that from the get go
the original kickstarter pitch said higher spell levels would turn per encounter and lower spell levels would turn cast at will as you level up, but it never happened

>playing a magecuck

It's nu-Obsidian, I don't know what you expect.
Hope you enjoy B A L A N C E.

Vancian magic has always been horribly implemented in video games.

Are you fresh off the boat?
They're interested in money. Period.
Lowest amount of effort, maximum amount of profit.
Noone gives a shit if you have fun or not.

The funny thing is that the autist Sawyer did literally nothing about the ability to just exit the dungeon, rest at the inn and come back.
The entire design of this game is just fucking rotten to the core. Sequel is not much better either.

>iirc it was like that from the get go
No, you legitimately got entire lower spell tiers on per encounter basis prior to the "balancing".

>not playing mage

It's like hating fun. Magic is where the most minmaxing should go.

Why this guy is so obsessed with balance?

Come on, Poe2 cant be that bad...right?

that sums PoE 2 up pretty well

This is way too real.

It is. I can't believe how hard they dropped the ball. And how many times they did. Had to force myself to finish the first one, then on the second one the prose got a little better but instead I had to dodge merman dick.

>autisticly balancing a single player role playing game
into the trash it goes.

user...I

Based brainlet edgelord

>muh balance in a single player rpg
Literally nobody gives a fuck. Just let different classes be different, you stupid niggers.
No, a thief does not need to be as deadly as a warrior in combat. No, a warrior does not need to wreak havoc on the level of a high level wizard.
Fucking Baldur’s Gate understood this, and that game’s rpg mechanics were nonexistent outside of combat. How hard is it to give classes some diversity when you actually have shit to do outside of killing things?

That's your argument? There is evidence supporting his claims. PoE changelogs.

Is Pathfinder at least better in that regard?

You know what's weird? Fucking Pathfinder has more cuties than Deadfire. Fucking. Pathfinder form Paizo. How did Obsidian fail this hard?

It's better overall.

Much better and with tons of hilarious shit.

Non combat skills in PoE aren’t tied to class brainlet but you still have to put points in them.

So I guess I'm getting it next sale if it goes 50%.

And this leads to further homogenization of the classes.
Thief traditionally balances his weaker combat performance with out of combat utility. In PoE a fucking warrior can be your party's thief for trap disarming.

And in PoE the thief has higher in combat damage and can inflict status the fighter can’t while the fighter is borderline immortal. Out of combat magic just doesn’t seem to really be a thing in PoE setting besides animancy.

May start Pillars soon-ish. I hear the game has guns, what class is good with those and are they neat?

>And in PoE the thief has higher in combat damage and can inflict status the fighter can’t while the fighter is borderline immortal
And both are painfully fucking boring.
It's not a warrior and thief, it's just a melee attacker A and melee attacker B.
The game is a homogenized shit.

Based balance man

Meme setup is black jacket aumua fighter with all your weapon sets as dual pistols and switch weapons every 2 shots.

>Empower Woedica
>No reactivity
>One year later shoehorns reactivity
>"I am full of vigor but I can't free you from Berath".
>Eothas was able to though...

>Melee fighter that needs large amount of micro and has skills for repositioning+status effects is the same as melee fighter meant to hold aggro

Ok retard, and that’s assuming you even play the rogue as melee since both fighters and rogues can also be built ranged for entirely different purposes.

>classes have zero identity out of combat and barely have identity inside the combat
>best tank is a fucking mage stacking deflection buffs because as an actual caster he is a bland piece of garbage too
Man PoE is trash. Glad Pathfinder exists.

>all these patfinder shills
You should feel ashamed

In 1 thundercat druid is dank
I havent played 2 since the dlc dropped but I liked wizard (pure)
unless they nerfed it paladin / x used to be pretty strong, for multiclasses
I have a pally/rogue and pally/druid I used for diff solo runs
webm is the potd pally/druid sorry for poor quality

Can someone finally help me decide what difficulty level to play on?
I fucking hate it when they dont tell you which difficulty level starts giving the ai numerical stat advantages...

I wanna play deadfire 5.0 but i dont know which difficulty to pick...

PS4 version of PoE any good?

If you've played a crpg before potd, no scaling
if you want a challenge potd scaling
if you are unfamiliar set hard

if you plan on using a full party just go potd no scaling until you feel comfortable

2 seconds in google faggit

guides.gamepressure.com guide

the issue is that this game has zero replayability value...
I wanna get it right at the first go.
I wanna feel its realistic and i wanna feel like the different roles i have in my party can actually fulfill their roles as oppose to say having to fight 20 creatures at once making them swarm all over all of your characters...
I wanna feel challanged but still feel like the game is fair and i can outwit it and i dont plan on replaying(linear story game).

PoE 2 is challenging, a lot more than PoE 1. The classes do feel different from each other and if you don't have a good mix you will suffer.

There are also lots of dual class combinations to play with that can give you crazy builds.

>I wanna feel challanged but still feel like the game is fair and i can outwit it
if you are on potd no scaling there are more creatures but past the starting island the shops sell some pretty crazy gear if you grab the right pieces

if you run a party and grab the gay fish he can drop chill fog on your team w/o hurting them, that alone will make most fights a breeze
if you play without scaling, few zones will be challenging

>the issue is that this game has zero replayability value...
It really doesn't. Every single dialogue choice leads to the same reaction from the npc. For example if you tell an npc to go fuck himself, say you'll help him, say you'll help for a price. They all lead to the same thing. It's like a had. 5 fingers all lead to the same arm. Voice acting did this.

>honestly recommend hardest setting as first play

I know that some of you guys gave fun only when you lose each fight 100 times until rng get it right but come on.

>Why all balances in games must always be about nerfing and no fun allowed approach?

that's just Sawyer's autism, play Pathfinder Kingmaker, that game has a lot of imba shit.

Thisiswhat i fucking hate about linear story static world rpgs...
Everything is in the same place and the game becomes a fucking puzzle...

I really wish they would make a party rpg with roguelike features and at least partial quest and location generation...

>losing 100 times
stop autoattacking and click the abilities

*saves CRPGs*

Almost as shit as PoE.
Underrail, AoD, Atom and Pathfinder are the things that saved the genre.

*invades thread*

>Underrail
Holy shit I just remembered I own that.

Literally just play it on a computer. You will have a much better time.

Guys, how do I beat the Drake and his Xaurip fuckbudies in the Endless Paths? Whenever I focus on one aspect of that fight, the others end up wiping me.
