Tentatively excited because of all the features they're finally putting back in, and are working to add in some more diplomacy related things, as well as stuff related to Empire building. I am glad they delayed the game by Three Months.

Tentatively worried because the game features Legendary Lord BS that is supposed to just be in Warhammer. It is also nu-CA which might horribly fuck it up. I also don't care about the setting, but it is something new for the series.

If I remember right they said you can choose to use a more classical gameplay style for lords in the historical mode. Could be wrong on that though.

Warhammer 1/2 are not the best Total War games. They sacrificed everything except for the battles, and the battles were not really improved they just added in stuff like magic and unique unit types. I like Total Warhammer and was even a good goy and bought all the DLC, but I still think Rome 1/Medieval 2 are generally the best.

They would be removing a lot of features if they did that though. I am pretty sure even in the non-romance mode there is still stuff like dueling, lords having ~3 lives, magical equipment and stuff like that. I just am not a fan of those two worlds mixing. I want Historical Total War games to be focused on being more (but not totally) realistic, while the Fantasy ones can have giant dragons and wizards.

How big are nu total war games? I don't think this is worth the GB

If you only mean the actual characters distinct from the rank and file, yeah, not doing that would be disgraceful.
If you mean that every individual soldier should have fully synchronized combat animations, that wont be in WH3, as it would take more money than they have or could ever make from the game, since there are not only humans that you need to pair up and choreograph at least a dozen different fighting animations for, but also other humanoids of wildly differing shapes, and then also non-humans, without even going into special cases like giant monsters or swarms of bats or rats, etc.

No. Empire, Napoleon, Shogun 2, Rome 2, and Attila. Those were all great and the peak of the series. Warhammer is 0/10 cancerous shovelware that killed the franchise.
