It's a lot worse than "eventually" having to merge a couple of servers. Try a 3:1 reduction if not more on all servers just a month or two after launch. Remember, Classic is practically free for all current subscribers so the amount of tourists trying it out at launch will be massive compared to the amount of people interested in playing it long term.

Merging:
>tons of people forced to change names because of conflicts
>guilds forced to rename too
>different servers can have dramatically different economies which can result in half the playerbase suddenly being comparatively poor after the servers merge, literal east/west germany shit
>different servers can have dramatically different progression, which is a big deal in vanilla with AQ event and such
>suddenly your server is full of strangers you could not interact with at all before

Sharding/layering:
>no renames at all
>shared economy across all layers
>shared guilds and progression
>every chat channel is shared and layers aren't fixed, so while it does mean that you might not always see everyone on your realm you at least CAN interact with them unlike with merges

I wish. I spent 30 minutes going around westfall trying to find reapers to get a drop. Every farm was fucking dead. Every single fucking farm was dead and they never fucking respawned. Then in darkshore I had to do a queue to get a fucking pile of bones underwater that I have no fucking idea why those even despawn after collection. That took like 20 minutes just standing there.
The toolboxes in loch modan were also fucking cancer because there were like 10 people competing for them. I have no idea why people defend this sort of quest competition and then say shit like "lmao just party" when doing that doesn't fucking work for any quest that isn't a kill quest, and actually spending 20 minutes waiting to complete that quest is faster than doing something else like killing random mobs (that are all fucking dead too) in a party

I've gone from thinking it's a glitch or server issues, to defending Blizzard, a company I was VERY wrong about... and now I'm really neutral.

After seeing how much was removed from the game I lost a lot of faith in them. Now that they're talking about a cash shop I'm losing even more.

Things that were removed before release should have been addressed to avoid people subscribing the game expecting things that aren't there.

I like this game very much from what it is... even if it does crash every half hour for me. But I refuse to further support the developers through cash shop and I think we should honestly boycott it if it comes out to get the message across.
