If you know you are going to buy 2 games this is a no brainer and nintendo can only stand to lose money out of the suggested retail price. Face it, who own a switch and only ever plans to buy 1 game for it.

Basically it's a way for Nintendo to make a shit ton of money.
They're already making money off Switch sales, and they make a cut off the hundreds of indie games that are selling really well on it, and a bunch of their first party games are also selling pretty well.
But for some reason they need even more money so they pull useless bullshit like this.
I don't know what to tell you, user.
Maybe they need extra dosh to recoup on the new line of Switch models they're gonna put out next year, but it seems pretty greedy to me regardless.

Twitch prime is giving away like a year of a Switch online.
There are discounts you can find for you to save like $30

I got it. I was going to buy Astral Chain at release no matter what. Now I get another game for $40. Hope they put Pokemon Sword up for it.

The customer gets to save $20 on two games, Nintendo gets a guarantee that you’ll be buying two games instead of one
Win-win as far as I’m concerned, as long as you were already planning on getting two games in the first place

SMM2 + Astral Chain is the only correct combo btw

You do know what companies price their products in such a way that they will still make money even in the event of a price-cut or sale, right?

And if they aren't making money on this still (which they likely are, especially for a digital purchase), then they have realized that this will make them secondary money through other purchases, perhaps through the purchase of a Switch system or joycons.

Also, do we know how this works if you purchase a game that is priced lower than $60?

>Also, do we know how this works if you purchase a game that is priced lower than $60?
Yeah, it’s basically just flushing money down the toilet

What's the disadvantage of it if I was already going to pick up Fire Emblem and Mario Maker?

>Physical gives less gold
>Now these exist but any game you would use them on will have a physical copy
They're just trying to kill physical without killing it entirely

>Also, do we know how this works if you purchase a game that is priced lower than $60?
At worst you break even and are retarded.
