My god it made shopping with mom actually exciting and entertaining.
yeah they were good for beating people with
What do you mean figure out how to use them? They had basically two functions.
Skannerz was great, but P.O.X. is where it was at.
I had the red one. I also had this.
These things were cool
Blue was overpowered as all hell. Fucking immortal cunts.

HOLY FUCK I FORGOT ALL ABOUT THESE THANKS user
This nostalgia
What is this power
Never figured this shit out tho
I wish there were sprite rips out there for it. Some cool shit was in there.
>that retard that shook it by hand and not using it as a pedometer like it was intended
lazy fat fuck
>these come out
>get one
>they are $60
>none of my peers can afford them and continue to use digimon
why is being rich so hard?
Ujalu > Zendra >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Pataak niggers
>shaking it while at friends house
>friends hot sister sees me doing it
>"that looks like good practice for when you are older"
>didn't get until years later
Holy shit those things were awesome, it's too bad they never made more to improve them. I remember most of the time you'd get shit monsters, find battles that were too hard, and you could barely level anything up because you'd get such shit experience. I also used the healing bar code so much it smudged and stopped working, but they were still a cool idea
Made me into the fap machine I am today. Can go hours and not even begin to have to worry about wrist pain.
Was hard as fuck from what I can remember as well.
Think I might have been the only child in the UK with one of these. Never once had a battle with anyone outside of the AI.
It was hard. It had roguelike mazes you could do for extra parts, and you needed to be really fucking fast to dodge shit. I remember the satisfying feeling of breaking the canisters/tubes that gave parts.
Think I only got a few parts before I eventually gave up, might have a look through my old drawers to see if i can find it. Upgrading your guy was so fucking fun.
I feel you man. Got one of these absolute based babies for Christmas.
Only problem is my whole neighborhood was poor as fuck so I was the only one with a Rumble Robot, and never actually got to fight with this.
I had to throw mine out because it was horribly damaged when I moved. It felt horrible. Found a video of some boring dude running through the game for nostalgia's sake.
youtube.com
>Those sound effects
>That limited music
>Those janky controls
>That programming where you decide early on what attacks you want and where you want to defend for every turn
God I want an emulator for this.
I have no regrets
I GOT ONE OF THESE FROM MY SCHOOL and it never worked on anything. i gave it to my cousin who lives in nowhere cause i assumed it worked in nowhere land
These where what really bridged the gap between consoles and handhelds before they were even a thing. So much soul
Why doesn't anyone re-make these for the nostalgia factor? These can't be hard to make since they're just UPC scanners. THey'd sell like hotcakes
Who would the market be for user? Basedboys won't buy these like they do nintendo junk
are there emulators for these kind of mono devices? Always liked the simplicity and crude pixel art.
"HEY MOM BUY ME THIS USELESS TOY WHILE YOUTUBE EXISTS"
yeah right liberal
this
There's not. There is sadly not a single emulator for small shit like this, and it's a god damned travesty.
Serious question: Did these things actually work at all?
I had one, but I have no idea how or where I got it from. It's not like I remember everything I buy, but I feel like if I pick something up in my house, I could see or reason as to why I have it.
I'm pretty sure these machines would just materialize out of thin air and work it's way into your room if you were a kid in the early 2000's.
A friend had one. He desperately wanted one for his birthday. It's just a thermal printer, like the ones used for printing receipts, except this one can print Pokemon.
POX was my shit. I remember I had the green one iirc because that was the one that had super speed.
Alright, let's settle this. Which color had the best monsters?
1/3
Someone give me a quick rundown
I had a tamagochi and then a digimon, but never seen these things before
2/3
3/3
I seem to recall my friend having one of these things and a gameboy camera
2 attachments just so you can take and print absolute garbage black and white photos
Scan barcodes on everyday shit, get a monster. Like everyone else though, can't remember what you were supposed to do with the monsters. That knowledge has been lost to time.
Scanned barcodes, got a monster that you could fight other people's monsters with. Never figured out how to revive them though.
I couldn't see it as a device but as an app on a phone for the modern age.
these posts imply that people have used this stuff/got these things to work
I have a PDF, I'll upload it real quick.
There would be no challenge, the barcode decryption would be solved in an afternoon and everyone would be able to scan themselves the ultimate team.
Ujalu has Fina so Ujalu Though falco will always be the posterboy
That's got a lot of soul.

In case I fuck up the first link.
Yes, I had one of that exact color and I think I still have it somewhere. Good times
Maybe it's just because I'm so sleep deprived that I'm legally classified as a functional retard, but this shit isn't making a lot of sense to me.
Probably would help if I had the machine in my hand though.
zoomer shit
>90's stuff
>zoomer
user...
retard
Pokemon Go is basically the same general concept. Go outside and find creatures.
>got one of these for christmas one time as a kid
>dad immediately threw the empty packaging on the fire since no one knew that it was needed to heal your shit
>within a single use the thing became a fancy paperweight since we didn't have the internet so I could not print off another healing barcode
Basically you scan a barcode and there's one of four things that will happen
1. Nothing
2. You get an item
3. You find a monster and add it to your party if it belongs to your tribe
4. You find a monster and fight it if it belongs to a different tribe
I miss this aesthetic. That blue one looks cool as shit.
I never got anything out of it. I kept scanning things and nothing would come up. It inevitably became a paperweight.
Yeah I figured whoever came up with the thing had that in mind, probably got sick of entertaining or disciplining their kids while they shopped
I imagine the processor is something that an emulator already exists for
We'd just need to dump the ROM and write some basic hardware handling
I always fucking wanted one of those. Honestly though, the original gen of digimon pets (the ones before the show, so no pedometer shit) will always be the best though
Thanks for archiving that user. I really appreciate people left ding a hand to the autistic on there since we'll...I am one of those autist.
Green definitely had the best, no question
Surprisingly yes! But you do need new paper.
MONSTER
ACQUIRED
What was the difference between this model and the red/blue/green ones?
Available monsters. See above.
I used to take pictures of my dick with this no memes.
My mom found it while moving out and thank God that jank thermal paper had faded.
Fuckin' based.
>"rich"
>Be around poor people.
>Not so rich you buy your friends shit so they can join you on.
You don't know what real rich is, faggot.
Rich people don't share, you can't get rich by sharing
Neither do rich people spend their outrageous fortunes on $60 toys, only lottery winners do shit that stupid
>scan barcode
>monster appears and gets crushed
wtf lads
This.
I just had wooden toys that were in the family. Of course when I got older I asked for plastic toys like cars or gundams and later for videogames
Are you forgetting barcode waifus?
Literally had both of these and used them extensively. I wish these kinds of games were still a thing and not in a cheap way. Everyone having smartphones now means this style of game could be like 500% cooler.
