Darkwood switch port

Thinking of getting this on Switch. He anyone tried it and can tell me how the performance is?

Also is it gud?

>He anyone tried it and can tell me how the performance is?
Some minor framerate drops here and there, they'll be probably patched.
>Also is it gud?
It's one of the best indie horror games ever made.

Thanks!

So should I explore the third part of the forest before killing the sow and deciding if I want to go wolfs way or musicans way? I mean theres nothing that skips those two stories?

You can but be very aware, Old Forest is full of Chompers, Big dogs and other nasty shit. The Hideout is by far the hardest in the game, its like a Batsign you can see from space so you better get at least a pistol and some ammo for those "oh shit" moments

I explored the are little bit after the bridge, but decided to head back just so because of chompers. I can't quite get the reliably with shovel and I spend my pistol ammo on those two at the bridge. I guess a shotgun would be ideal for me to deal with them, but I dont have one yet. Are there lots of ammo to be found for shotgun at some point or am I going to have to buy them mostly?
I kinda want to go in and find the hideout, not for staying nights there yet, but to be able to make runs to there and get more essence of shrooms and meat.

IDK about Switch performance because I played it on PC. Horror is good. They captured the creepy theme quite well.

But if you aren't playing permadeath the consequences of dying are super low. You wak up the next morning, and the penalty is you don't get currency (can;t remember what it's called) for surviving the night.

Which doesn't really matter since items you can purchase are only supposed to help you survive the night to begin with. You can just die every night and it wouldn't matter at all.

Still a good indie game.

Find Hideout 3, unlock the passage to the starting area then the next day search for an old cabin of a hunter: its full of ammo and gunparts. If chompers fuck you up too much a emergency molotov is a good backup.

If you stay at Hideout 3 I hope you have a good cache of metal for traps hideout 3 is nothing but huge holes that you cant patch

Thanks for the tips. I explored a little further from bridge while avoiding chompers and managed to find the hideout and noticed immediately that it's going to be a tough one to defend. Night was already goming and I realized I have no change of running back to second hideout in time so I tought my best bet is just to stay the night here and hope for best. Luckily it was not so bad night, experienced the some shadows for first time and after it was just two big dogs. I didn't have materials nor time to barricade anything but one window from other side of the house, doors open and everything but the dogs decided they want to get in from the barricaded window. The oven sure does give a lot of essence here. I'll be trying to make a run for that shortcut and search for the hunter cabin next.

Ive just seen the trailer. I know absolutely nothing about this game but I like horror and seems interesting. Can anybody redpilled me on this game?

This is everything you need to kno. Personally it's best horror game I have ever played. The devs nailed the gameplay, mechanics and atmosphere.

Isn't the game way too long for it's own good?

Oh shit this released?

In hideout 3 its very viable to run arround the building to avoid dogs and chompers, Still you are given good furniture Im not going to tell you how to cheesebut use it well. Phantoms are very common in there so always carry a flare

And unlike the other hideouts this one has no area of protection from the red mist, the moment you get out of the walls you get attacked so keep that in mind

Only made it an hour in. Not because the game is bad mind you, but because I'm a huge pussy and the sound design seriously unnerves the shit out of me.

Almost 2 years ago bruv

not at all, that being said I am biased and bought it in early access a long time ago and played it over and over when they released new content updates.

I think my fist time beating the game took around 15 - 20 hours or so but I speed through the early game because I was already familiar with the content and messed around a lot at the end of the game

Attached: Capture.jpg (316x113, 7K)

I meant on switch

I think its too short but works. Its like Fallout 1, its as long as it needs to be without overstaying his welcome

it's what happens when a bunch of art students make a game. The sense of dread in this game is great and not relying on fucken jump scares is refreshing in the horror genre

Headphones mandatory

Yeah I noticed theres lots of furniture in there, but I'm not familiar how to use it otherway than blocking doorways, which don't give much protection since they get pushed aside, but atleast I can hear which way something comes. The other hideouts have protection from red mist outside? Didn't know about that, never actually went outside at night. I won't let the voices nor lights fool me.
No need to spoiler story wise, but is there going to be more parts where I need to decide which way I wan't to go about? I guess I'll go with musician on this playthrough, since he sems to be more trustworthy, altough a little bit strange, than wolf guy.

bros how do i play this game
ran through amnesia with a smile on my face, soma was a meme, played res 7 VR without a care in the world
but this game, and its sound design, is unironically too spooky for me
that and I hate crafting

>It's one of the best indie horror games ever made.

Seconding this, shit's a trip. Amazing setting, amazing style, amazing atmosphere.

It's like 25 to 30 hours? I enjoyed all of it but it's longer than the average horror game for sure.

Do as you please, just remember most story things have consequences later.
> I won't let the voices nor lights fool me.
Not all voices lie user, going outside in hideout 1 and 2 is viable but you have to be quick. The oven shots the gas up to the fence in those places the only plot thing Im going to tell you is you need to carry all of your good shit when you move after the doctor

>Also is it gud?

I like it, but had to drop it because the -natural- controls were just too alien, foreign, and awkward for my peanut brain to get used to... Especially considering it's a really GOOD horror game and I'd 90% of the time awkwardly spasm about.

it's gonna be a cycle of stocking up on resources for a few days then venturing out to unknown areas to find new events or items that will make it easier for you to explore more and progress through the story.

Does it have ouzzles? I might buy it for the switch

I don't like that it advertises itself as not relying on jumpscares, why ruin the experience like that? At least leave some air of possibility to add suspense.

Not really, it's more about exploration and surviving.

The atmosphere does a good enough job that jump scares aren't necessary and most of the time you'll be doing the jump scares to yourself.

it doesn't need jump scares but it doesn't mean there aren't any

Dude plenty of times I was expecting to be scared and still got scared anyways.
Game fucks you up.

>it’s indie therefore its good and deep

Attached: 604E3887-BB72-42BA-8B70-8C43ABC07F7E.jpg (400x720, 40K)

no one said it was deep except for you faggot

You are just a retard that want to sound smart

>played res 7 VR without a care in the world
i haven't come across a single person who wasn't scared by this in VR, even shitty VR horror games.
going to just assume you're lying.

The trick is the paranoia of knowing shit is all arround you yet you cant see it.You dont have jumpscares because things are out there

is it worth 15 bucks or should I wait for sale

Devs got a torrent but I said but it, its pretty sweet

i would buy it yeah but like said, the devs made a torrent for the full game no strings attached

Did they remove the dig spots from the underground tunnel in console versions? I remember reading that going in there only when you have the shovel, so you can dig some weapon parts, but I don't have the option to dig in any part of the tunnel.

I'd say for 15 bucks you will get your moneys worth and even more. It really is exeptional game.

ok that's based as fuck
will buy it on Switch to support them

Not that guy but I have seen worse shit in my way to work.

Mexico is a shithole.

It's to the left, in that little dead end once you enter.

to the left of the stairs as soon as you enter the tunnel

>never heard of this fucking game
>take a look in this thread
>multiple people calling it the best horror game ever made

Is this the shills HQ? Where's the exit please?

Attached: 1556905050067.jpg (900x731, 162K)

not having cheap jumpscares automatically puts it pretty far up the list

>shilling for a free game the devs themself put in torrent
Nah, its one of the rare moments when the game is good and now its on switch, that is all

Attached: 12236111280.png (1160x1720, 1.26M)

Maybe it's just a good game you dumb faggot

Why do I always have to wait for a game to be ported on fucking Nintendo sõytch to start hearing about it on Yea Forums?

it was in early access for a long time before the final version came out. threads were sporadic

There were threads when it released, just because you don't pay attention to fucking video games doesn't mean everyone else is.

Half the fucking youtube people did reviews/playthroughs of this game before the ports were even announced. Also the game plays better with a mouse and keyboard.

it came out almost three years ago

It's been out for two years, how did you manage to dodge literally any and all news about it? There's been loads of Yea Forums threads about it since release, which is hardly surprising since It's basically 2d STALKER meets Junji Ito

Attached: 1547248003013.png (480x475, 266K)

Resident Evil 7 wasn't scary at all to begin with, why would VR suddenly change that?

Cause the threads about it 2 years ago were killed by faggots like this yelling about shills that weren't there.

I swear I genuinely missed all the threads, don't know how.
Anyway I'm glad I finally heard about it because after checking on youtube it looks cool. now I'll pirate it

go for it, there's a official torrent for it on piratebay

t. Butthurt shill

Attached: burrowing_owl.jpg (1024x761, 106K)

the game is literally free you brainlet

Yeah I checked the left and noticed the dead end, but theres nothing I can do? Should there be some button promt to dig or can you just dig away with the shovel?

there should be a prompt

It's great, the closest we'll ever get to another Silent Hill; the pause theme hit me like a truck with nostalgia.

Nice try shill. But I'm not so easily fooled.

Didn't they patch the old "Couch & Corner" exploit?

It should be a highlighted area on the ground you can click on. If you can't find it then i suppose it must have been patched out for the console release.
You did check it before venturing any further into the tunnel right? Because if you try to open the bunker door at the end of the tunnel an earthquake blocks the digging area off

It actually came out also on xbox and ps4, so it has gotten new attention from console players now, when earlier it mostly interested for those who play on pc. Like others said Yea Forums has been filled with darkwood threads earlier so you must be new here, you could not have missed the amount of threads it had here.

WE'VE BEEN
WAITING
FOR YOU!

they did, no clue what that user is talking about

It's really great - a genuinely interesting and fresh world, cool survival/defence mechanics, weird goings on
it's everything I wanted

Can bathtub be actually broken by enemies? It's made of metal so atleast in theory the savages and dogs shouldnt be doing anything to it?

For those of you who don't live in Europe - the block-of-flats basement that you get to explore in the epilogue looks exactly like a typical Polish basement level. Minus all the horrible Jacob's Ladder shit like hell radios, of course.

I started browsing /vee/ back in 2008, on my ps3 cuz I had no pc

Yeah I checked it before, in fact I havent still even ventured all the way to the door because I wanted to be sure I'm not actually missing something. Theres no prompt to do anything so I guess they removed it.

Banshee doesn't care about your feelings, now eat this fetus while she fucks you to death with crow monsters.

Yes and it cost metal to repair. Dont break it

All furniture except for stools and the pews from the crumbling church can be broken. What I did in hideout #3 was block off one side of the hallway I was hiding in with regular furniture with an outer lining of stools that the monsters could just push up against without breaking. The other way in I would line with glass shards and bear traps.
Never died once.

Hahahahahahahaha How The Fuck Are Banshees Real Hahahaha Nigga Just Face The Wall Like Nigga Close Your Eyes Haha

>face the wall
Won't she just slap my ass?

...w.why..?
Why...did..you.do..it?

Get a handgun before going to Old Woods. Don't spend the night at the Old Woods hideout.

C'mon kid, they were monsters! And you surviving is way too random, so just live with the chicken lady.

>Doing his quest correctly locks you out of meeting him in chapter 2
Fucking gay.

Attached: 3512.jpg (284x178, 8K)

Whos storyline are you talking about?
Do I need to show the doll I got from village underground chomper to someone?

The Musician. If you place his drawing in his mother's inventory they don't transform into Chompers while you rummage their house but they do when the Musician goes to the house and kill him. You're supposed to ignore the gay drawing and kill the Chomper parents to meet him in chapter 2.

Some kiddo with a shitty violin wants you to betray Wolfman.

Wait so if I have cuppoarrd or whatever and outline in with small stools, the cuppoard wont move at all because the stools? Wont the small stools just move a way if enemy walks towards it?
Won't seriously do nothing if you don't face it. Just stands behind you and waits till morning. Just don't look directly at it even once

Is it good or bad idea to spend my precious pistol ammo for chompers or should I rather save them for end game?

He's talking about The Musician kid
there are three outcomes for his quest
1. let him see his parents, they transform and eat him
2. kill his parents before he can see them, he buries them and he cries as he calls you a monster
3.you tell him you'll get the key for him but betray him and give it to wolfman instead. He moves into your house in chapter 2, although his condition is getting worse and worse

spend it, i saved up all my ammo for my end game gun and never used it and beat the game with over 200 shots for it

You'll have much better weapons for the end of the game, plus, you can only take what's in your hotbars and inventory to transition into Chapter 2, so you'll have to leave most stuff behind.

Attached: 1549136055355.png (376x376, 124K)

And what there is to be gained for meeting him in chapter 2? I guess I'm going to kill the parents anyway

Extra interactions with him.

I guess I'll go with number 2

>3
Wolfman asked for it first!

I'm outside the barn, pondering if I should kill the sow like wolfy requests or not

I really wish the devs would do more Darkwood content. DLC, sequel, anything. Or even a new game in the same style with new and improved mechanics.

Go to the Village first. You'll get extra incentive to kill the Sow there.

Do things look grim for such possibilities?

It has a pretty great Stalker-like atmosphere

>Wait so if I have cuppoarrd or whatever and outline in with small stools, the cuppoard wont move at all because the stools? Wont the small stools just move a way if enemy walks towards it?
The stools are just there to stop the monster reaching the larger furniture, the larger furniture is just there to keep the stools in a neat line. You'll need to brace both against a wall or something so the monsters don't just push both layers further down the hall. i camped out in the small rectangular room with an entrance at both ends next to the crafting table room.
I lost my original screenshot so I had to recreate it in paint. The bookshelf is there to block some small holes in the wall that the monsters can spot you through

Attached: my hideout.png (928x744, 530K)

This game was so fucking scary playing with headphones I couldn't finish it

So what happens to wolf after he does the thing with you know who?

I’m in the same ‘shit too scary’ boat. But I’ll probably buy it and play it again because I FUCKING LOVE MY NINTENDO SWITCH

>Also is it gud?
I loved it but it isn't for everyone.
If you don't like having to return to your base before the night and then spending a lot of time twiddeling your thumbs while spooky shit happens (unless you get attacked, than you have to survive) than this game is not for you.

It has some of the creepiest imagery I have ever seen. Jumpscares are not intentional and the thing that scares you is an actual threat. The combat is honestly perfect for this kind of game, it's responsive but you're weak. You can beat the monsters but even with a gun you're at risk and vunrable.
The leveling system is great and there are costs to choosing to level up.
The shape of the map is randomly genetated but the locations within are fixed, this way you will never miss out on cool shit but you cannot cheat your self by looking shit up.
The sound design is godtier.

I wouldn't just call it my favourite indie horror it's my favourite horror game period.

Attached: vadim-galuza-darkwood.jpg (1920x3200, 785K)

Should I spent my morning trader reputations before chapter 2 or does he follow me there?

I was gonna wait until october to buy this but you fags are making me want to buy it now

He certainly does follow you but you'll get a new trader with his own set of reputation.

You can fight back. It's not easy but you can kill them.
Well you can't fight the furniture fly at you at high speeds

Spend your reputation.

''I wouldn't just call it my favourite indie horror it's my favourite horror game period.''
Same. I wonder if Acid Wizard can top this with their next game. If it even will be horror game at all. Not that I don't trust their vision, but this shit is just so up there for me, that I find it pretty much impossible to make a better horror game.

Are there any horror games that come close to Darkwood?

Wait, monsters can only see your light beams, right? They don't have some invisible cone I have to worry about, do they?

You dont keep the generator running at night and just stand in darkness hoping for best?
I actually just tried that method for the first time, couple times on 1st and 2nd hideout. Nothing ever came, or tried to come, inside the house during night. I guess the spirits can come sure but then it's just about throwing a flare or two I guess? Same method works on 3rd hideout?

I don't think anyone has fully figured out how monster AI works, but I'm fairly sure that they can spot you through cracks in the wall or gaps in barricaded windows. That's why I chose to put a bookcase in front of the holes in the wall there

I kept the generator running. I forgot to include the single movable lamp lamp in my diagram, but I had it in the room.
It often wouldn't survive the shadows cutting the power but I just made sure I always had 2-3 flares on me at all times for emergencies.

it doesn't work the further you progress in the game

>WE WERE WAITING FOR YOU

Fuck the centipedes

>Finally finished turning my hideout into a fortress.
>traps, gasoline lines, explosives, glass shards you name it. Nothing is getting in here.
>hey where's that skittering noise coming from?
