Now this is interesting application of the RT cooldown system, but what other things does this bring to the table? Combo routes is one thing, but what about attack properties? Knockdown enders? Damage?

Full inputs might be used to zone for saving on that cool down but trying to use it closer might rely on the simple inputs, which would be interested to learn the timing between the two.
I still don't know if I like the idea of simple inputs though, however my favorite fighting game is Soul Salibur and it's kinda like that in that, so we'll see

It works for 3D fighters due to the nature of movement and crossups. Block button in 2D fighters is weird. With a block button, you're basically killing the concept of crossups. Block button also incentivizes the creation of fast high/low attacks. This is why you see a lot of teleporting lows and highs in Mortal Kombat

Critique towards GBV art direction:
The point of ArcSys "visual" direction they started taking with Xrd is to make 3D polygons look and feel like 2D animation. Xrd and DBFZ show that they wanted to go for this "trompe-l'oeil" effect so that you would look at a screenshot of the game and start questioning yourself if that's 2D or 3D. That was the good part of their new visual approach.

Now, since Xrd got upgraded to Revelator, they started adding a new grey shadow filter to elements... which completely destroys that trompe-l'oeil effect. By adding more shadows they unintentionally highlighted the 3D aspects of the character models, which was not the case with Sign. Now, DBFZ uses a similar thing but the game still looks outright fantastic and still has a bit of "trompe-l'oeil" effect, especially considering how faithful the character animations are to the original source.

Now, in Granblue Fantasy it's a bit different. We don't exactly have a "2D" reference to look for, outside of art. The game has an anime but it looks nowhere as good as the more known art for the gacha stuff. So whenever I look at Granblue Fantasy Versus I'm not too impressed. They applied the similar rules for that visual direction made in Xrd and DBFZ but the models lack of that "trompe-l'oeil" aspect. They're very detailed and stylized, sure, but they don't have that similar appeal of Xrd Sign and DBFZ visuals.

It might be to limit his pressure since from the match, he looks to be the resident unga bunga. The projectile travels slowly and it does multiple hits to keep them in blockstun which he can transition into a mixup or crossup.

I also notice that all skills go into cooldown upon using a Skybound Art, so Supers have a huge risk when you whiff them.

That means Ladiva is going to have 360/720 inputs and we might have characters with charge inputs too. Imagine charge partitioning manually having a faster charge than one button charging.

How fast you can use skills (more ping=more wait between skills activating), how fast actions of other players are processed (less accidental trigger eating), if you're from a place like Europe reloading on an auto can sometimes be slower than waiting it out which is never the case for nips, and nips can even reload on long skills and be ready for a new action where foreigners would probably still be waiting for the animation to finish.

If you can be on for those hours, you can farm with all the buffs our crew has to offer, which seems to be doable for a lot of them. It's the hours where the NA players go to sleep and the Euros are working where we lose rounds. As for 40-boxing, you only need one day off to slay EX+ to accomplish this, though I guess it really depends on how strong you are.

Attempts at dumbing fighting games down have historically never worked out for them. People (be either casuals or journalists) who whine about fighting games being too hard execution-wise will not suddenly change their minds even if you give them ONE attack button. Rising Thunder and Fantasy Strike did a similar thing of replacing command inputs with one button specials and those games still did poorly.

Most of the work is done by the devs on the base model already. The models have manually tweaked normal vectors, which control how the cel shading applies different levels of shadow. It's the normal vectors that control, say, the difference between how light falls on Sol's face versus other cel-shaded games like XIII. This tweaking is already there so you don't need to re-do everything when transporting the model, you just need to do a decent job with your own shader.

Only for cross ups, which we still need to confirm it blocks. The only other real benefit is if you want to stand block in place, which usually isn't that good an idea in 2D games as it is easier to block low and react to overheads. Otherwise it seems to have a lot of drawbacks

Grea is an odd case (at least for Grubble) because Anne is the one always making the moves on her, no the other way round. But I'm only familiar with them in Granblue, not the game they are from. I heard Anne is even more touchy feely with Grea there as well.

Seems to have EX versions that have fixed cooldown but we dont know anything more than that. Inputting a move normally has a visual cue, a bit of sparkle on the character in this case, plus the cioldown is almost instantaneous

One thing I'll say about watching pros play any fighting game, it's fucking boring. It's all footsies and pokes and waiting until that one moment where they pull off one good combo, then it's back to footsies and pokes. I get that's what advanced play is, but it's much more satisfying watching two casual but knowledgeable players beat the shit out of each other.
