If you look at the map, the Corruption is clearly some sort of meteor or living thing that came from space, fell to the planet and created the chasms from it's descent.

Yeah they're gonna be at the Epic PC Gamer thing; Cennxx had to post on twitter that taking an exclusivity deal is akin to selling your soul to the devil.

Hopefully Terraria 2, which they announced alongside otherworld and never spoke of again.
