Yeah pretty much. You only get one projectile on the screen and depending on the input you either blow it up or do an attack independent of it.

absolutely, just be aware that sturmangriff (dash grab) will beat azhi's attacks clean, so keep your eye on him at long range.

Blowing up the projectile even after it was destroyed is trick not many people know how to use effectively or are aware of actually. It gets around some parries and projectile nullifying attacks.

Holy shit, I finally managed to get Steam to recognize my DS4 in UNIST and not just in Big Picture. Hopefully that continues because fiddling with PC settings every three days is honestly not worth it.

Hilda literally dies to the majority of the cast in the corner. Sion is one of the best frametraps and pressure in the game, so yeah.
Every one of Hilda's matchups is about her keeping people away or just literally dying.

Phonon needs to be toned down a bit in general but Hilda is manageable. Once Mika gets in she's hard to pull off and those characters aren't known for their best escaping tools either. It's just that Phonon has a lot of options to convert off of any hit that lands anywhere so one that plays it safe is almost impossible to approach without exponentially more work on your part. Otherwise Mika's more or less alright against the rest of the cast.

What should I be doing after blocking a string that pushes me out? When try to use a button to get my turn or dash in I get countered or the move doesn't reach, but if I don't do anything they'll dash up and put me in the same situation again.

ggs, it's been a while. My pseudo-zoning cheese against Wald only goes so far since you're already good at never getting hit by preemptive 214B. When I played brkrdave a month or two ago he washed me 1-10 with his Wald since he had unreal dashblocking and whiff/backdash punishing.

She's not top tier but I actually agree with JP that Mika is not bottom two. She's too scary up close in a way no one else is, it's just that very few people play her to her potential.

I've never tried any of the untold games. the only games i've actually played are 1, 2, and 4. with 1 being the only one i've beaten the main story of, but even that i didn't delve into any postgame stuff.
I tend to have fun early on when attrition is a major problem and get bored the further into the game i get. I really like the concept behind the Arcanist class in 4 though, EO in general makes applying Statuses very fun.

I had to look up what you meant by Prey in Sight, just call it 236X. I only know like 1.5 combos with Chaos and generally for j.2C starter I do the basic route and go j.2C > 2A > 2C > 5CC > j.B > j.C > j.2C > 2C > 236A > fireballs > 236B > 623B. hippie would actually know more about Chaos than I do since he learned more stuff.

Unfortunately, V and Nexus also have this issue, though encounters in V get real nasty when you reach the 6th stratum. Nexus's difficult encounters appear in a few of the side dungeons and in the postgame content.
I really like the concept behind the Arcanist class in 4 though, EO in general makes applying Statuses very fun.
They really nerfed the Arcanist hard in Nexus due to how they reworked how the Arcanist applied her circle as well as the proc rates. And I agree. Atlus did a good job in making ailments matter.

I've been hitting the lab with her for a while now, I at least know a confirm for multiple situations, I just haven't use her in a real match. I at least know combos from the right side, pretty sure if I start from the left I'm completely lost though.

It's a problem that's on my end(obviously) more than anything, I just pick the wrong option at the wrong time and I get blown up due to me not picking my openings as well as I should. It's just the one match up where I feel that I'm 100% lost, if I lose to any other character I can guess where I messed up and work on that, but when it comes to Yuzu I just don't get it.

I'd shy away from that train of thought, mostly because confirmation bias is a hell of a drug. Try not to be preoccupied with chokes or drops and focus more on what you learned from a match. It's something that I am trying and is 100% effective for me 30% of the time. The other 70% involves me unga bungaing and mashing buttons like a brainless gorilla while getting wake up CS DP'd in the face.

The hitbox is low towards the ground. Yuzu's 4B can't counter moves that are low reaching even if they hit mid, meaning stuff like Hyde's 5A and his 2B will both go through Yuzu's 4B without triggering it

Don't try to parry Nanase's projectile. You need to dodge it instead and 236B right afterwards as she runs face first into your slash

Is this game good for someone who doesn't know shit about fighting games? I want to learn the fundamentals, but don't rly want to start with a game with a ton of complex mechanics

Only if you pay attention to the tutorial mode and mission mode.

The tutorial covers fundamentals pretty well. Best way to learn fundamentals is to get beat down at least hundreds of times before getting it.

The weirdest thing you'd have to adjust to is reverse beat

it does have the best tutorial in any fighting game though, plus having the community here is good for asking questions and shit

There's a lot of deeper mechanics in the game but it can be played with just fundamentals really well.
This game also has great tutorials and character primers that actually explain all the different fighting game concepts, so it's a decent starting point. If you really want a game that's just the fundamentals with nothing complex maybe you can go for SF5 or something but then you're playing SF5.

it's hard to open up people with him but that's about it unless you're trying to do 3c microdash in every combo

Akatsuki has microdashes while Linne is definitely harder than she looks because I can count the number of people I played both offline and online who know what they're doing with her. Even I still have trouble with her combos since her higher end combos need to take height into account

Apparently even redblade acknowledges that Hyde takes a bit more than usual with rekka delays, double 236, and timing 66C.

214C is a lot less useful than 214B, as well as doing horrible damage.
Only thing I've ever seen it used is for projectile invuln and corner carry tricks.

His IW covers about 3/4 of the screen’s distance and is invincible, so watch out for cocky akats with 200 meter

I understand what ya mean. I made this one my first fighting game to take seriously and it took almost a thousand matches before I started getting wins in these lobbies myself.

If ya keep at it, you'll see results for sure but I can see why you'd want to go back to your other game.

this is my first anime game

I think I played with you a bit from afgg room before but I was using yuzu then
I mean I won against other shitters with yuzu and vat before just by keep blocking until their turn is over and then hit 2C into combo
then when they are far away I just spam fireball/laser/flashkick/slash
I never really do any blockstring move

but now that I try orie it seem I actually need to know how to do blockstring and hit confirm them into combo when it does hit

Yeah, I feel ya there. Going from such a switch in sub-genres can be pretty jarring.

Definitely stick with Orie if you wanna learn basic fundamentals of anime fighters before jumping into difficult execution characters.

I also decided on Linne myself due to aesthetic and ease of playstyle. Didn't get my first BnB down until many months after taking it seriously, haha.

One thing I can say is never be afraid to ask for advice. That's the biggest deal that got me started on the right path of learning the ins and outs of the game.

That and watching other people who play my character and see what I can and can't copy off of them.

I'm new to tryharding in fighting games and I'm not sure if every game's mission mode is like this, but why can't it tell me exactly how long it wants me to delay or dash in a combo? It doesn't even tell me if I missed a delay in certain combos; it'll just keep on going until I drop it because I missed the delay earlier. There was a combo with Akatsuki with two delays in the air and it took me like twenty minutes to realize that I wasn't fucking up the landing but the timing on the first delay.

Have you tried watching the demo? It might give you an indicator.

Someone might've also done it on youtube with the button inputs shown to see when you need to time it.
