For people that use controllers, what controller do you guys use for PC gaming?

DO NOT GET A 360 CONTROLLER
I have a dualshock 3, a dualshock 4 and an xbox controller S with an adapter I made,
>Do not get the best controller ever made.
Sasuga, shitdick.
Why?
The D-Pad, the D-Pad, the D-Pad
Its fine
I can see your point if you emulate a ton of 2D games, but for 3D games it's not that big of a deal.
Keyboard and mouse. Console controllers are for children.
>For people that use controllers
>responds anyway with K&M memes
kys
360 controller is fine as long as you don't plan on using the D pad for movement
I got an Xbone controller, and it does the job just fine
For me, it's the F310.
It's relatively inexpensive, very sturdy, excellent build quality.
Its joysticks are a bit sensitive for things like third person aiming, but if you are aiming on PC with anything other than a mouse and keyboard, that's fine and you can do whatever you please. Just know this before going in.
Can switch between Dinput and Xinput and can also swap the function of the D-pad and Left Joystick.
Speaking of the D-pad, it's not bad. A lot like a Saturn/Genesis D-pad, where it's kind of a floating, rocking unit, but with four buttons, and not an abomination like the X360 controller's.
It fits very snugly in your hands, which is something I didn't see mentioned anywhere. It doesn't break the bank, so if you get it and don't like it, you can always use this as a backup. I personally prefer it now over my other controllers.
I use a ps4 controller
DS4 for anything but shooters
Xbox because it just werks with wangblows.
I use a clear Dualshock 4, its pretty much my perfect controller. My only gripe is I don't like the "Share" and "Options" buttons which act as start and select on PC. They're too small, the shape is weird and I don't like their position on the controller. I wish it just had the regular start and select from the DS1-DS3. Maybe the DS5 will fix this.
Based douk. If not for the black and white buttons this would be the GOAT controller. Handlets need not apply.
xbox one, it is the best all around controller, d-pad is better than most, worse than nintendo, best thumbstick placement, best triggers, shape is a bit worse than DS4 for me but the build quality is better.
For me its the mcChicken
WiiU or DS4 if Analog triggers really matter.
>He doesn't understand the fact that his keyboard is digital and can't accurately produce an analogue input like a controller's joystick can and clearly doesn't play fighting games because you literally can't with a keyboard + mouse. Which means that he's a shitty gamer. xD
oof
based xbros. for me, im pulling out my elite controller, i like the built in paddles and like how all of this "just works" on win 10
shout out to the walmart employee that let me get away with returning a elite controller box with a black xbox 360 controller and getting all my money back
forgot pic
the one you posted, babby handlets need not apply
> First person games of any kind
> Shooters of any kind
M+kb
> Platformers
> Action games
Xbox One X/S controller
> Dolphin
Gamecube controller for authentic control experience
A few commonly suggested controllers and why I don't recommend them
> Dualshock 4
Awful d-pad, wrong control stick placement, slippery feeling control sticks
> Xbox 360
Awful d-pad, obtrusive battery pack on back, gets dirty really easily.
Vampire controller?
Either pro controller (professional use only), or a pokken controller for anything 2D.
Controller is superior for pretty much anything that isn't an FPS, RTS, or point'n'click game.
Nobody in their right mind should be playing driving games, platformers, beat em ups, etc. with a mouse and keyboard.
>hey guys we are gonna make xb elite 2
>never comes out
The only flaw with this controller is the lack of some LEDs in the transparent part. I could also stand a slightly shorter cable.
that controller looks like what I would give my retarded cousin to use if he came over to play games....
>Dualshock 4
>Awful d-pad
Nah. it's not as good as like, a Saturn controller but its still above average.
>wrong stick placement
More like correct stick placement.
My DS4, best controller i've ever had.
DS4 for things that aren't fightan/2D, Hori Fighting Commander or its retarded cousin, the Mad Catz Fightpad for 2D
Xb1
>simple
>works natively with windows
>relatively good controller
If you're going to play a game that wants you to aim at stuff, you want to enable gyro mouse so you can make precise adjustments. Your options for good controllers with a gyroscope are dualshock 4, switch pro, and steam controller.
If you're not gonna use gyro aim and don't care about the dpad that much then a 360 controller is great and much cheaper than the controllers that have gyro.
Having the d-pad split in the middle is a stupid design decision that makes it harder to roll your finger smoothly across the d-pad. The only reason it was made like that in the first place is because Nintendo patented the plus shaped d-pad. But now that the patent has expired, Sony stuck with their inferior design for some reason, whereas Microsoft swapped to a Nintendo style d-pad as soon as it expired. The control sticks are also a holdover from the PS1 era where Sony slapped them on in that arrangement out of convenience so they could keep the rest of the layout the same as a standard PS1 controller. The PS1/PS2 controller was a cobbled together abomination that an entire generation of gamers grew up with and for used to. But for people that grew up on normal ergonomic controllers, it will never feel right.
>ds4
>forced to use spyware or a program that can accidentally delete your mouse and keyboar drivers to get it to work
ah yes
Got one of these, and I'm not a fan, mostly because the dpad doesn't offer any resistance and the buttons offer too much. Just feels janky as hell.
If you use steam input then it's plug and play. I've never had an issue with ds4 since steam input launched.
i dont anymore. microsoft qc is non existant. the last two i got had shoulder buttons fail within 4 months and the wire come apart where it meets the controller. these things were god tier and utterly indestructible 6 years ago now they just trash.
>spouts a whole bunch of dumbshit with no basis in reality
cool story, bro
Offbrand WiiU controller for $10. Better than expected.
4 Xbox 360 controllers (3 extra for party games). If it ain't broke ...
Source?
Seconded. Wavebird can suck a cock.
ds3 using xbox360 driver
XBOX HUEG LOL
Zoomer detected. Just because you have stockholm syndrome from spending your formative years playing on a shitty controller doesn't mean the rest of us do.
What the fuck are you talking about, dude? lol
>f310
>cheap, but no vibration
>f710
>wireless abomination, more expensive
>f510 wired and with vibration, good price
>was too much value, discontinued
I'm so fucking mad, my f510 recently kicked the bucket, and they don't sell them anymore
>Not wanting the best customizable controller option
I honest to god love this controller and all it's possibilities. Valve should make a revision and go even crazier
Blame the useless touchscreen
I used to use DS3 but both of them broke. Now I use a Wii U controller.
I've got two of these things and they work great, I'm surprised by the quality given how cheap they are.
Plus, I can just set the "Logitech" key to open up the Retroarch menu
*touchpad
You're right, honestly. I grew up on dualshocks, but their dpad sucks. I got a callus on my left thumb after a while so they felt comfortable enough, but going back a few years later I forgot how uncomfortable repeated rolling motions are. They're fine for basic 2D platformers, but fighting games are really rough on them.
all jokes aside is this a legit controller? It looks like a fucking meme
My very old at this point 360 controller. I think its going on eight years, maybe more.
Since I barely ever play a game that benefits from a controller, it does the job alright.
I bought a second one in case valve decides to stop its production. I will not play with traditional joystick controllers ever again.
gamecube controller via adapter
Joysticks are trash so this is pretty much the only good controller. Touchpad as a dpad is still usable.
>It looks like a fucking meme
of course it does because you let other people poison your mind with memes instead of trying things out for yourself.
DS4. Top comfy.
It's solid once you get used to it. Great for anything except fighting games and precise 2D platformers. Even shmups work surprisingly well since some can be played with a mouse.
why the fuck would anyone use an OG Xbox Controller on PC when you can use a 360/One without an adapter, just USB.
If you're going to play it with the default settings (which is ok but not the best), then don't get it. The appeal is to customize the controls however you want.
>makes it harder to roll your finger smoothly across the d-pad
Only if you're an ape that doesn't know how to use a d-pad.
I honest to god love the trackpad but the dpad is simply garbage. Would love to see an updated model with changeable parts.
They make OG xbox pads that are USB and directly compatible with steam. Look up hyperkin.
You don't need an adapter, that's an Xbox One controller in the shape of a Duke. People use it because some of us are men with male hands and need something bigger than a children's toy like the 360 controller.
ah shit cool didnt know, the OG Xbox controllers are actually pretty comfy i thought you had to use an adapter for em.
The only problem I have with the DS4 is when games try to detect it natively instead of using the fake xbox 360 controller from DS4 windows. I know you can set it to exclusive mode but that usually causes other problems.
user that is not the original Xbox controller. You think the 2001 one had a screen in the middle?
ps4 controller fit well in your hands if you have tiny asian-like hands.
Never had a problem here. DS4 works perfectly in 360 mode with the latest software.
Hyperkin is a really good imitation too, feels identical. They made the xbox logo in the center animate like the console startup, you can see in OP's pic that it's a screen instead of a static image.
I hate the Share/Options buttons, too. In Dragon's Dogma on PS3 I used to use one of these, and the raised Select button made a big damn difference in quickly pausing to heal compared to the DS4.
There's an option where you change from clicking to just touching the d-pad and adjusting the deadzone. Clicking the d-pad was so awful and I was not used to the new control scheme, but it actually makes for a decent alternative after a while.
I didn't say you had a problem fuckwit, I said I had problems with older games. Learn to read.
Xbox one controller is the best designed controller for American hands.
>playing Soulsborne games with keyboard and mouse
why do you hate yourself
>playing soulsborne games
DS1 is actually better with KBM once you patch in smooth mouse control. Its lock on system allows you to dodge in only four directions, meaning to have a full range of motion you need to play without locking on. KBM makes this much easier since you end up partially controlling movement by aiming the camera. By doing this you have DS3's full range of evasion and the game feels significantly easier.
what's the Yea Forumserdict on this?
fagotera sony defense force
how many 360 controllers you still need to peddle before you finally deplete your stock goldstein?
Some have found problems with the first batch. Wait a bit and see if they fixed everything in the second batch.
wrong
I know what you said retard, you're just a fucking idiot. kys
360 pad.
>indestructible
>perfect size and fit
>only flaw is dpad, but I don't play anything that requires it for anything but occasional mode switching
If you need a dpad use the fucking keyboard.
This nice blue ds3 I got at Sears years ago.
as long as you are using the updated fork there shouldnt be any issues. if you are talking about old games there is a tickbox for use dinput
I have some off brand xbox 360 controller.
I need to stop being lazy and learn how to build myself a fight stick though.
I had been using the wired 360 controller for literally over a decade. I think mine is like 13 years old at this point, I got it in like 2005.
I replaced it with a DS4 recently. No particular reason, I just like the feel better.
Just the fact that my controller lasted this long through my 360 and then to my PC gaming time though is enough for a recommendation. I've had other controllers where the buttons or the sticks or something would fail eventually.
Not my trusty 360 pad though, everything works just like the day I got it. That kind of longevity is hard to come by. It's not a perfect controller but there's a reason its still around and imitated, its just great.
DS4. Tried using WiinuSoft/Pro for the Pro controllers, but god damn are the programs a nightmare to work with.
Holy shit I love the duke controllers didn't know this was a thing.
Still have two old ones sitting around I modded some usb cords onto (and some godawful led fx) a decade ago.
PowerA xbone wired controller. it's decent.
