Hey /vee/, I'm upgrading my GPU, I was thnking of getting an RX 580, but when I looked at the performance on Cemu it runs worse than a 1060 3GB.
Are AMD cards still garbage for emulation, or are they better now, I'm planning on using PCSX2, Cemu, and RPCS3.

It's not exclusively for emulation, but I don't want to upgrade then realize down the line that the card is a piece of shit that runs worse than weaker nvidia cards.

Cemu runs well on my i5 9400f and 1050ti, but I expect performance to actually get worse if I get an RX 580.

Nothing, it's a good budget card, but if I was OP I'd get something future proofed like the 1660, 1660ti or maybe a cheap 1070, the 3GB is starting to show it's age in games like Kiwami 2.
Emulation for anything after wii is absolute garbage anyway, even on an nvidia card. Bitching about 50w is just autism, you can still undervolt and manage to keep up with a 1060.
Yes. AMD cards are unusable in opengl applications. Cemu is supposed to have vulkan soon, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Amd is only worth it for the sub $200 GPUs which Nvidia are fucking pathetic in. Get a 1660 ti or better.

Honest most emulator are not that great, they only play some games 100%. I still have games on ps2 emu that are unplayable. :(
Is Bayo2 working properly yet? Last time I tried it had no character shadows, crackly and unstable audio, and it would generally crash after about an hour of gameplay. Framerate and input latency were solid tho.

People got mad with nvidia because they marketed the 1060 3gb as just being the 1060 6gb but with less ram, when the reality was that it was a different card altogether. That, and the fact that 3gb is pushing it for certain titles (even 1050ti has 4gb), means that people always shit on it.
To be honest though, it's still pretty good. People are just autistic when it comes to computer hardware.
You're gonna want intel + nvidia for emulation. If you choose AMD you're gonna have a bad time.

What cpu do you need to run Demon's Souls? I tried with an i5 7500 and it was pretty shitty. Playable, but too slow to be enjoyable.

No crashes or sound issues I noticed, I ran it with settings from the Cemu Wiki.
Only issues I had were the initial slowness with the shader cache.

Emulating seems like a pain in the ass to get into now that Nintendo holocausted all the ISO/rom hosting sites. Do you all rely on torrent trackers for games now?

AMD CPUs and GPUs always sucked with emulation. ALWAYS. And since emulation developers develops for whatever they mostly use, they simply don't give a shit doing all the work again for AMD poorfags.

It truly depends on the emulator. Some are GPU heavy and others are CPU heavy.

AMD cards are absolutely terrible for emulation, legacy Direct X (dx8 to dx10) and OpenGL games.
They fucking blow ass in that department.
AMD's only saving grace is Vulkan, and all the devs fucking gave up on Vulkan already.
