Reminder that it's in gamers' interest for game developers to have a strong union that can advocate for workers against their big employer corporations.

>Vidya related
this belongs on /biz/
We discuss games here. not argue on how they are made.
And yet, faglords argue about the dev's wife's sister's friend's dog's walker's opinion on Twitter
I'm for it to crash western game development faster and so nobody can afford their games.
they will just outsource more stuff. Considering how even in the west gacha can sell the demand for video games is extremely high and any gap will be covered be someone else
>production of video games isn't video game related
Hey bud I don't care. I just want good games and I want em cheap. Fuck off.
(((They))) fear unions.
Fuck off, SJW.
unions are (((They)))
>thinking that paying an extra $5 per game, maximum, isn't worth a vast increase in quality of work
Want a good laugh, Joe Biden has 10x more union support then anyone else running 2020. The biggest corporate guy, HMM.. I wonder why?
>unions aren't (((them)))
Wow
The jew has always been the person who owns the company.
And how do you figure that, you stupid fucks? How are workers banding together to get fair treatment in the interest of the elite globalist class?
No, I really honestly want to see western game development fucking burn to the ground. Only good stuff that comes out of it now is indie stuff.
>they own the company that means they dont own the union
Keep digging that hole user
Shill your shit elsewhere, retard.
>more time and care taken on games
In what world would this be the outcome? Unions would guarantee budget cuts to offset this even if it happened
The other 2 points don't benefit me as a consumer so fuck you and your "ethics".
Try being in a union moron. Pay your dues goy. Go on strike when we tell you goy. Don't worry about being outsourced goy. Make sure to pay your union dues. Oh did i say that twice? Don't forget goy.
There's nothing to shill, faggot. I'm not a game dev or a union organiser.
As an indie dev, I'd love if AAA cucks get tricked into that to raise game costs so nobody can afford them and start buying more indies.
Only japanese AAA is worth a damn anyway.
unions are bad.
companies are bad.
who gives a shit.
Crunch burnout results in worse games.
>join union
>demand higher wages
>"oops we can't afford to keep you around, pajeet and chang are cheaper to exploit"
The only place unions are useful is if you work in a position that can't be outsourced like healthcare or retail.
You post this exact thread over and over retard, fuck off.
I worked at a union grocery store for 10 years, the union never did shit for me besides suck up my money
Now I'm working part time at a union free company and I still have decent benefits and more money in my pocket because it's no longer the 1800's and modern unions are just irrelevant mafia fronts
And get better wages and benefits? Okay.
Right so all the guilds and unions outside of those two industries are just figments of our imagination?
I advocate for unions because it will destroy the AAA industry.
Unions for well paying, high benefit jobs are retarded and for spoiled kids.
I've never posted this thread before. I've posted a thread about the crunch but it barely got any replies.
>paying to have a second boss who doesn't give a shit about you and only uses the position to benefit himself
games would stay the same price, but more of the money would go to the actual staff.
(probably they'd be paid the same hourly wage, they'd just take more time to work on it and burn out less).
I'd also be for more games being designed to be moddable in their PC releases, it's fucking stupid for everyone involved that that's not a thing anymore, means the onus is on the developer to fix aboslutely everything and to keep adding enough content so the game doesn't go dead in a week or a year.
Hollywood is full of unions and look at the quality films coming out on a regular basis!
>Game development
>high paying
>high benefit
Retard.
yeah why can't everyone be miserable like me?
>gamers complain about higher ups
>LOL GAMERS RISE UP AMIRITE STUPID ENTITLED GAMERS LMFAO
>developers complain about higher ups
>NOOOOOO THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING GAME DEVS UNIONIZE RIGHT NOW GAMERS HELP AAAAAAAAAAAAA
>more time and care taken on games
Not necessarily, it will still be made in the cheapest ways possible to maximize profit.
>less burnout
True
>reduced unethical "crunch" bullshit
True
>I like to be fucked in the ass.
>yeah bring me in to work stupid hours while my "quality of work per hour" steeply declines.
Honestly this, If you dumb unionists argued this point I would jump on board.
on the other hand look at the quality of life for a lot of the people in hollywood.
I think unions are a good thing. there's still good movies being made, and there's at least some protection for a lot of the people who work on them.
LA and every other major urban center in California is full of homeless street shitters and their used needles
There are great films out of Hollywood every month. Stop only watching blockbusters, user.
>Black Panther was nominated for Best Motion Picture
If they owned the union, why the fuck would they spend millions of dollars trying to prevent people from forming unions?
Hollywood is more than the fucking Academy you pleb, lmao.
WE NEED A UNION
I want a game dev union so it can be completely subverted by marxists who co-opt the platform so they can LARP as revolutionaries an hour after its made
Imagine getting paid by your employer then only to give that money to a union, LMAO.
lol @ the anti union fags ITT. I make $50/hr plus a $40/hr benefits package. I pay my dues and get the best training in the world. My employer cannot fuck me. Unions are the reason you all have lunch break, 8 hour work days, respectable working conditions, and safety regulations. Stop letting ((((them)))) make you think unions are a bar thing.
b-b-but surely my union reps will help me and not just take my money and say they don't want to upset their relationship with management
>Michelle Obama talked about what a wonderful "black power" movie it was
>the whole point of the story was that enforcing racial supremacy is a bad thing
Why do people become retarded whenever they start to virtue signal? They become even stupider than /pol/, something I didn't think was possible.
Game devs should have fun like this now and then. Then they start to think that they can act like this all the time then complain about not being paid overtime during crunch when all they got done was the first world and what the shop keeper looks like.
Yeah but is that $35 dues deduction worth another $5 per hour? Huh yeah I thought so buckaroo
ITT: scabs
>more time and care taken on games
>implying this won't lead to an explosion of lootbox cancer so companies can makw up the extra money they have to spend on whiny employees
Yes, let's be like India you fucking genius
>ywn work for the Pinkertons and smash some socialist's head in because he thinks he should be paid to not work while destroying company property
Americans...
wouldn't unionizing game development just cause publishers to outsource the development to another country? it's just a digital good so it doesn't matter where it gets made
This scares union lovers, they dont want to acknowledge that most unions are corporate bootlickers.
>he thinks videogame quality will improve with a price hike
It doesn't matter where it gets made but it does matter who makes it. Publishers know they can't outsource much beyond low level asset productions overseas.
>this thread again
Dragon Age Inquisition and Mass Effect Andromeda were games made without the 30% Steam cut. Look at all that quality the extra money brought.
>the extra profits won't just go to the shareholders dude
there is literally no advantage for anyone outside of a union for a union to exist, with the exception of pols that get political support from unions
Bioware isn't unionized though so that example is worthless.
paying developers more won't magically make games better, especially low level employees like art asset slaves. some of the best games were made on low budgets and shitty working conditions.
