well if you really want to be optimal with mystic knight then you'd just go Mage to 10 then Sorcerer to 200, i just don't think it's fun to play a different class for 90% of the game so you can play a different class, especially when you can just obliterate the rest of the game's content as soon as you get BBI Lvl 3 Weapons, regardless of your stats, but it's ultimately up to you

Stats will make you marginally better but gear is the true turning point at nearly every stage of the game.

Literally just play mystic knight, his stats are fine, fuck going 200 levels as a class you don't even want.
The damage difference really is not significant anyway, and you will feel the low defense that comes with most minmaxed builds. The game isn't even pvp anyway, so no one else is going to give a shit about your ~12% more DPS..

there is literally no way you'll gimp your stats playing mystic knight, or as any class for that matter. it's literally impossible to gimp your stats ever in this game, just play the game. DO consider switching around classes a bit for augments, because THOSE do matter and will give you big damage boosts. particularly Clout from Warrior and Acuity from Sorcerer since those are a 20% boost to strength and magick respectively. you can also just wait until post game and do the idle method while you do other shit to raise dcp, but that shit's boring

Aiming with a controller is ass unless you're a Magick Archer, but the controls for using the bow are also fucking awful on the keyboard. Bow Mode doesn't fucking activate half the time so you have to put the secondary skill toggle onto something comfortable and get used to mashing F to fire normal arrows.

I prefer m+kb unless you're climbing on a monster, then it's almost impossible climb in the direction you want on a keyboard for some reason.

One other thing.
Defense is far more noticeable than attack, since any gain from armour is halved, and armour generally has lower numbers than weapons anyway. For a build that's priotising defence, Magick Knight is already your best option.

Whatever you prefer, I use a controller but swap right hand to mouse for aiming arrows if I'm playing a bow vocation. Works for me.

Avoid doing quests for characters other than your waifu.
DD has a fucked up system for picking your lover where it makes the pick purely based on each NPC's appreciation variable, but doing quests for a character raises that character's appreciation of you. Basically they didn't make any distinction between "I like working with you" and "let's fuck".

I think your beloved is the last person with max affinity you talked to. If they have a pink aura when you talk to them that means have max affinity.
Running into someone will lower their affinity so do that a lot if you accidentally maxed out your relationship with someone you didn’t want to.

That was only in the base game, it was fixed in Dark Arisen and every other release. To guarantee Mercedes, give her the Arisen's Bond after her big story moment, then rush story missions until after Deny Salvation.

With Dark Arisen, it's not as easy to get fucked by the inn keeper anymore. Just do Mercedes side quests and her affinity will be really high with you. There's a specific story quest near the end that locks in who your beloved is. All you gotta do is have Mercedes at really high affinity, and if you have high affinity with others, just have Mercedes be the last one you talked to before this quest. I think it's called Deny Salvation.

I'm right there with you. I never even left Gran soren before dropping the game because there was no way to build a magic Knight without either leveling sorcerer (fuck that) or knowing I was doing something really suboptimal.
FFX wasn't great, but I miss its level system.

Suboptimal means jack shit in this game. You could level 10-200 as a Warrior, switch to Sorc, and still wreck shit because of gear. The only stat that matters when leveling is stamina, so everyone should spend a few levels as Ranger, but even that isn't required.

AA doesn't affect the cannon unlike an elemental enchant. Use it when you're going to melee though. It extends range and adds multi hits to your attacks.

Multiple people can have their affection maxed out. Just max out Madeleine and have her be the last NPC you talk to before you do the Deny Salvation quest.

If the enemy is staggered, or knocked down, You can grab them. I think you hold the button to grab them in place, and you just tap to carry

While minmaxing isn't a fun way to play at all, when it comes to MK, I do feel obliged to point out that your base magic stat is the single most important thing for great cannon. For instance, even if you have a fully upgraded virge of madness in your hand, you'll do zero physical damage to Daimon 2.0 with great cannon. And the best native magic weapon + the best enchantment still isn't that hot in the great cannon formula. So if you intend to spam the cannon against high level stuff at some point and don't want to depend on periapts, do make sure you gain some actual magick stat.

It's very shallow, but it exists. You can romance practically any NPC in the game, and they just kinda stay in your house during the post-game

That's nice. Try magic cannons + high miasma too, the only problem is that you have to rely on a sorcerer pawn to cast the miasma.
