>Alright guys, now that the core combat is all nice and fleshed out, how many Space Harrier sections can we slap in there?

Based. Mundus 1 is cool and so is Isla Del Sol. Only legitimate problem with Is a Del Sol is it blocks Jeanne IV. And Space Harriet Climax Mix is pretty great, so is Legendary Battle.

At least give me an R-Type section you fuck.

i like space harrier

Nope, fuck you baka gaijin

Space Harrier level in Bayonetta was fun

W101 final act in shellnut

What a coincidence, I was just replaying W101.

TW101 was the first time I had a problem with this stuff and it was the final part. Fuck trying to control two ships at once.

>implying if you were in Kamiya's shoes you wouldn't put homages to games you lived growing up in your own

None. Get the fuck out of our office, Kamiya.

based itsuno, pls make DD2 soon

Why can't you talk about Hideki Kamiya without some dude bringing up Itsuno, it's like clock work.

based

Fuck off Itsuno at least Kamiya had the balls to post here

*Ahem*

Neo-DMCfags think liking Kamiya is some sort of insult to Itsuno

>prefer kamiya
>still think itsuno's done a good job with the series overall
>seems like the majority of dmcfags just dick ride itsuno as if he was the one to make the series good
It's fucking annoying

Same, I personally love both of them but prefer Kamiya because he's done more varied work that I've enjoyed. Bayonetta 1 and Dragon's Dogma were easily my most beloved and played games from 7th gen.

WELCOME TO FANTASY ZONE
shiho is quite the fantasy zone

Isla Del Sol is shit because it's supposed to be Afterburner but it's so poorly done (both mechanically and because they play the Space Harrier remix instead of the Afterburner remix they play on Route 666 for some reason) that people think it's Space Harrier because all the other ones Kamiya's done are Space Harrier. Mundus 1, Operation 009-A, even the StarFox-styled section of Bayo 2 which he didn't directly create, they were all solid diversions. But Bayo 1 giving me the shittiest version of Afterburner since Afterburner """"3"""" as a mandatory gate before one of the only boss fights in the game that isn't shit just hurts me.

Shit like this is why W101 and TFD are better than Bayo.

Worked at Capcom in the 90s. Co-directed Resident Evil 2 with Mikami. Was supposed to make RE4, but it changed so much that it became a new IP: Devil May Cry. Later joined a specific internal team at Capcom for making new IPs and directed Viewtiful Joe & Okami (also doing the story for VJ2). Left Capcom after the team was shut down to be a founding member of PlatinumGames, directed Bayonetta, directed Wonderful 101, and then directed Scalebound (an XBone exclusive that was cancelled after MS kept asking for too much shit and tried to force the company into a corner to sell; Nier Automata's sales are the reason the company is still alive).

He really likes Space Harrier, tall women with glasses, and being "stylish". Don't tweet at him in English or ask him a question anybody has ever asked him before on Twitter or you'll get B L O C K E D.

>Isla Del Sol
Fuck no, the missle covers a big chunk of the screen and when you dodge the fucking screen will spin so much it may make you puke before you finish the section.
Fuck that level, ruined a kino bossfight.

One of the most brilliant game directors of our time that lets his own love for video games add some questionable elements to his own games.

More like
>okay, core gameplay is done, now let's get back to those QTE

If you don't know Kamiya you probably don't know much about video games

DMC 1 isn't bad, but the series only got better after 2 thanks to Itsuno. Just imagine how much shittier DmC would have been if he hadn't come in and tried to salvage it.

Most games/movies/shows can be improved by making them shorter, forces you to cut out anything but the best bits. Kamiya goes and does the opposite and shoves as much crap as he can into his games. Sometimes it works out like multi-morphs being added during the last day or so in w101 but most of the time it just ends up making replays of levels a chore because of all the gimmick sections.

Attached: 78678546848846.jpg (1632x1632, 780K)

DMC1 does things vastly different then the later titles, their core concepts on enemies arne't even similar. Just look at DMC1's DMD compared to 3/4/5's. Itsuno's DMC's live by the Style meter, Kamiya's DMC1 did not.

>when Kamiya isn't blocking people on twitter he's getting first place on Tetris 99 global leader boards

>DMC1 isn't bad

DMC1 was a fucking monster hit of a game on release. I will never understand why people want to downplay that game's success so much.

>Releases the remaster of DMC1
>Capcom proceeds to take a shit on it by making it one of the most half-assed remasters ever made.

Probably helped that he wasn't an assblasted faggot that hated the PS2 and made his game for a console people actually bought.

DMC1 is one of those games where I think you had to be there to understand its significance. A lot of people just play it after 3/4 and go "oh ok" and they'll never understand that there was literally nothing like it before.

Literally among the 3 most brilliant directors of all time, shame about his personality.

Space Harrier is better than any game Kamiya has directed.

Who are the other two?

Unironically Miyamoto and Kojimbo.

It's pretty sickening to see DMC "fans" call DMC1 "it's just RE with swords". Like they don't want to acknowledge the game or something. Like DMC3 is the only DMC game "allowed" to be great. DMC1 did more for 3D Action than any DMC game after it did.

Chris Nolan, and Chris Nolan

Kamiya has a great personality, twitter trolls turned him into a troll himself on twitter. Look at what is twitter used to be like compared to BLOCKED man.

Attached: 1531264734682.jpg (611x563, 76K)

When will he stop playing Tetris 99 and make a new game?

Kamiya never hated the PS2 retard that was Mikami

Attached: mikami.jpg (620x349, 18K)

DMC1 is incredibly influential but it literally was an RE game that evolved into a hack-and-slash. Part of the appeal is that it feels and looks like a classic RE game but you're playing as their nigh-untouchable half-demon swordsman who toys with his enemies to be "stylish". DMC1 is a horror game that can't scare you because the monsters aren't strong enough.

That said I guess it's closer to Onimusha than RE on a mechanical level despite still obviously being its own thing as a trailblazer.

Read his post again.

That's what I just said dumbass.

DMC1 is far more than "not bad" and its sequels mostly just iterate on it in obvious ways.

Why can’t Kamiya just make Ann actual Schmup instead of shoving them in every game he creates

I can feel the Schmup levels FITB Astral Chain

Disregard that then I suck dicks

I'd argue it's the RE1 and Megaman 1 of its respective series. Great when it came out and laid the foundation but suffered from the hindsight that the sequels created.

He's not directing Astral Chain. Platinum has had non-traditional combat/non-combat sections in most games but they've generally played better in games he hasn't directed. The director of AC was the lead game designer on Automata, and that game's shmup sections were solid and more 2D shmup in nature.

I know the roots of the game, I'm just saying how newer "fans" of the series basically dick ride DMC3 to death yet never give DMC1 any of the respect or credit it deserves and throw the game under the rug like it was some sort of blip no one cared about.

>suffered from the hindsight that the sequels created
The only game that does that to it is 3. 3 iterates on 1 in a lot of smart ways, but not in ways that I think Kamiya himself would've gone in. 4 iterated on some of 3 but was a step back in many ways, and 5 iterated on 3 & 4 with some references to 1 but just as many to the bad games in the series. Then you have 2 & DmC, especially 2 which was the direct sequel.

That's the thing though, DMC1 still does some things better than the later titles. Later DMC titles improved the core juggling mechanics but that's really about it. Style system was great, instant weapon switching was great, enemies are shit, and depending on your taste in music/atmosphere the "feel" of the games are vastly different. No other DMC games do DMD like the first game, and no other DMC game had Critical Hits before 5 reintroduced them for one enemy. Later DMC titles definitely made some improvements but went off in such a different direction I don't think they can be compared in that same way.

Oh boy I can’t wait to see the Viewtiful Joe and Dante equivalents in Astral Chain

Kamiya isn't directing Astral Chain, he's just "supervising" it.

You deserve to burn in the fires of hell for thinking Automata's shmup sections were anything remotely near solid.

There was never anything approaching an interest pattern, the controls were floaty, the visual clutter was abhorrent, and the shooting/swording bullets to make them disappear mechanic was god-awful.

I can't possibly see how anyone who considers themselves even a minor fan of shmups can defend Automata's shmup sections. They were the worst part of the game by a gigantic margin. Your objectively shitty opinion has angered me because of how fucking dead-wrong it is.

>Alright guys we copy pasted witch time and put on a new coat of paint how do we get it cancelled or get taken off the project?

>an XBone exclusive that was cancelled after MS kept asking for too much shit and tried to force the company into a corner to sell

>You deserve to burn in the fires of hell for thinking Automata's shmup sections were anything remotely near solid.
To be honest Automata is the only Platinum game I haven't played. The footage of the shmup sections I saw didn't look that bad, but it was only a couple minutes' worth.

Attached: 1552169510822.png (865x570, 970K)

Yes and? I still expect to see a cameo of either Joe, Dante, or Amaterasu. Watch your wolf will probably do some Okami shit

I mean it's not a bad game at all, but the gameplay is a little tiresome for me because it's another Platinum game that's just super derivative of Bayonetta yet again. Say what you want about Kamiya but at least he's original, most of Platinum's other titles have been tweaking Bayonetta 1 over and over.

Platinum failed to meet the demands that MS had for them, which included shifting a single player game into co-op halfway through development and having the game run in an absurd resolution without killing the framerate. They were given a AAA workload when they would barely be AAA if the entire studio worked on one game at a time.

It was weird seeing Kamiya being apologetic about it on twitter immediately afterward. Guess failure gives you humility if only for a little while.

>most of Platinum's other titles have been tweaking Bayonetta 1 over and over
This is true, but it's also lead to two games that have built on Bayonetta in meaningful and original ways (W101 from Kamiya himself and Transformers from Saito). Ironically Bayo 2, its actual sequel, was extremely reiterative in some ways and regressive in others.

Attached: 1542198740817.jpg (1073x967, 245K)

I can't believe Kamiya is fucking dead
>viewtiful joe 3 never
>okami 2 never (fuck off with den)
>wonderful 102 never

Don't know what you're even getting at, Kamiya has always been humble when he's not obviously joking around. He has profusely said over and over he believes Mikami is a much better game director than he is, same for Kojima. He also always defends Itsuno for DMC2.

>Shifting the game into a co-op half way through
This has already been debunked multiple times by the producer of the game who worked at Platinum for like 10 years.

>Devastation 2 never

I'm so glad I have my TF Devastation disc. Too bad I forgot to retrieve my W101 copy from a friend's place before we transferred to different colleges 3 years ago.

I'm surprised SEGA hasn't contracted Platinum to do a low-budget AM2-era styled arcade game.

>no Optimus Prime

I think it helps that Automata's shmup sections have the characters in a small size, where you can guess how and where is your hitbox. I still don't know how big is the fucking hitbox in 009-A and the ship in 006 is fucking big

Platinum get typecast as the budget crazy action people. Also even though it was more on Miyamoto's design philosophies going into the project, I feel like StarFox Zero would make publishers reluctant for them to work on a similar game.

>Isla Del Sol
It's like four times longer than it should be.

In this case I mean low-budget in the sense of it being a project to throw at 3-5 developers and give them a year to work out the game. Not budget in the sense of "Yeah this is a licensed property and they had to shit it out quick because time&budget".
