Switch owners are the definition of "late to the party", jesus christ.

He has a taunt that does damage which is always cool.

Sol is your Unga of choice, he's easy and straightforward enough but also has enough depth to be somewhat technical at high levels.

Order Sol is also similar to Sol but it has a charge gimmick and is also a heavier and slower character than Sol, he also has a radically different toolkit despite some core similarities, it takes a bit of practice to get confident with his strings.

Johnny is not nearly as braindead unga as his Xrd counterpart, while he does shit damage and has very powerful tools he's a fairly technical character in AC+R, his cancels, especially AKJ cancels aren't easy to pull off.

Slayer is superb Unga but despite being the resident scrub destroyer and an extremely powerful character, you really need to know him well enough to pull his tricks at high levels (mostly because he's so dangerous people learn his tricks very fast), moreover, he uses links instead of gatlings and his Dandy step tools make him focus on "creating" counter opportunities, which is not as beginner friendly for most people, his backdash cancelling also requires some practice to master and he's one of the very few characters who lack projectiles altogether in all his iterations, meaning you need to be confident in your close range gameplay, absolutely fucking insane abare though.

ABA is another very Unga character but she's fairly technical as well since not only she's a heavy character, she has a two mode gimmick that also radically alter her playstyle, making her fairly hard to learn, she's for more expert players.

Kliff is also a very Unga character, with a very advantageous hitbox but a fairly bizzarre moveset that is a bit of a weird mixture of great tools and bad tools, making him a somewhat limited character compared to the rest of the cast, he's really fun though.

Johnny isn't unga at all

I bought because I want to play GG again(playing from day one of ps1 GG, still my fav)and when I am at home I simply don't have time to even turn the console on. When you get older time is your most precious resource anc I can't afford to use it when I have a day off. But since it takes me every day 2 hours to go back and forth from my job having it portable its a great treat.

Also the artbook and the pouch. Mine will arrive on the 20, I even ordered the coverter to use my tatsunoko WIi stick again.

Since this is a thinly veiled GG thread, Am I the only one who wanted more of GG2? I loved that game so much. Only people playing were japs(a no-no for my eurpoor connection)and americans, so I always stood up up to 4 am ignoring the fact my work shift began at 8 to play with them.
Such good memories.
I also loved the plot(even if the campaign was an unfunny slog until the EPIC final boss)and waited patiently for the dlcs(dizzy was basically confirmed, she even had a fucking ingame model).

Well, it HAS fighting game sections.
It shares some "moba"(before it became a thing)elements, with RTS elements(you actively unlock and build troops with mana accumulated, and the troops have a strenght/weakness akin to rock paper scissors); then you have your character who can run at lighting fast speed and is an avatar of destruction, so you HAVE toclear lanes from your opponent troops constantly zooming and killing shit, but it is ALSO a fighting game(3d)when the two characters meet, and then its gg all again: roman cancels, overdrives, dashes, the good shit.
Itsa pretty "complicated" game but an INCREDIBLY satisfying one.
The critic called it a "dinasty warriors" clone, because game journous were never good and most of them never went over the campaign which is, by Daisuke's words "just a tutorial".
If people still plays it on steam do yourself a favour and get it, its amazing.
Its not perfect tho: the camera is SO bad it'll make a lot of things frustating.

Oh, and without playing its campaign, xrd story mode will make NO sense.

Controller recs for playing +R? I could get an adapter and use my PS4 stick, but it'd be more convenient to find a comfortable pad. Pokken controller's doing fine for now but only two shoulder buttons means I need to reach over to taunt as Kliff and I can't map a trigger for RCs.

I like it for the character interactions, Sol drinking the Ky's scotch, and later Ky realizing he's Sol's son in law, both from rev2 but you get what I mean

start with the first game, its not a competitive game, its almost a mash in fiesta thats super fun and completely over the top(also, not balanced at all, and thats part of the fun). You'll get used to the speed of the series and then you'll move on to the others, more refined titles of the franchise.

I loved the drifting in that game, and the music was damn good, but the gameplay was meh and the forced RTS wasn't what I wanted out of a 3D GG game. The story was also pretty dumb, and the character design took a nosedive from previous entries.

The final boss was great at the start, dodging the lasers while going sanic fast, drifting around the explosions was pure sex. Too bad after that it's a standard action game fight with mediocre moveset variety. The game was the definition of wasted potential, it didn't know what it wanted to be and as a result it failed at pretty much everything.

Not that user but I disagree but understand your complaints. For a 3D GG game it was entirely different and only carried over some elements. GG2 tried something completely different, but what they came out with I don't think it was actually bad it was just odd and different to get used too since it was an amalgamation of an action game/Dynasty Warriors and RTS/MOBA. It was ambitious but I think mechanically it surprisingly worked all well together, I wish we could see some sort of sequel or even a spiritual sequel at this point since I don't think any other type of game like that exists.

I'm not saying I hated it or anything, I did have fun with it but not enough fun to keep playing after finishing it. Personally I'd have dropped the RTS aspect entirely and go for an action game with musou on the side, hell I'd love to see a 3D game set during the crusades, would make for some sick action sequences with Order Sol killing gears by the hundreds or Kliff in his prime fighting that hydra thing from the side material. Hopefully they can try again one day and iron out the details.

6 months is hilariously optimistic, try 2 weeks. The netcode for +r has always been terrible, and the game requires some very tight execution once you get past beginner level. I'm shocked people are even talking about playing this online on switch, switch is abysmal for online games.

For anyone out there looking to play this or any other Switch FG with a modern stick, look for Brook converters or their Universal Fighting Board. The former is just a USB conversion with as little lag as possible for $40, the latter is a board swap with easy screw terminals for all your buttons for $90.

Yes, because it's natively Switch compatible and you WANT that d-pad.
Alternatively you can get a Retro-Bit Official SEGA controller but 1-you need some sort of adapter for it to make it compatible with your siwtch and 2-i've heard some bad stories about the plastic components underneath the d-pad breaking on this one.
Ultimately my point is, if you want to play fighting games and don't want to use a stick, get this goddamn d-pad.

You could also get an adapter and use a DS4 controller, it's d-pad is KINDA ok i guess but you'll destroy your left thumb.
I DID pratice Guilty Gear every day using a sony d-pad when i was younger and my left thumb would always get fucking mauled and i'd have to pop the luquid off from my blisters over and over again, eventually it would get so hardened it's like i was a fucking guitar player.
I'd rather spare this experience to new players and make them have a comfier time with fighting games on a pad.
