Strange Horror Games

What are the best horror games that are more on the strange, creepy end? Not looking for the spooky bloody kind.

I'd like to know as well

I have dreams like that pic pretty often. Only there's always weird old people and toilets there as well.

Make sure you pee before you go to sleep

This image is fucking stupid though. Just some faggot taking a concept from the matrix movies and trying to make it 2spooky5me

Rule of Rose

Stanley Parable has a few creepy ends. Like the one where you trap the narrator in a room or the one where you visit the old version of the game.

>Darkwood
>Yomawari
>Penumbra
>Lost in Vivo

Non-horror games with strange, unsettling elements:

>LISA
>Inside/Limbo
>Sunless Sea
>Pathologic
>Yume Nikki

so just noclip out of there

>that kid who noclipped straight down through the ground during class, and was never heard from again

Not strictly a horror game, but I found LSD Dream Emulator fairly creepy when I was a younger. You probably won't find it at the top of any "Best of" list considering it's barely a game, but it's definitely unique.

That's called a nursing home.

>no clip out of reality
>find yourself in a developer test room
>the developer is dead, likely of age.
>the test room was for humans
>he never finished,hence our imperfections
Would you make all humans perfect being or leave them as is?

this meme legitimately has legitimately cured my writer's block for the game i'm making because i couldn't figure out a decent enough literary device to explain a spooky bland mid century modern hellscape full of overbearing flourescent lights and existential terror

i am renewed with creative vigor. it's happening, user

I've been conjuring up a first person game where you play as a schizophrenic or some kind of mentally ill person or someone tripping balls on acid trying to survive his his delusions and hallucinations.
The entire game would take place in a large house or interior and you'd see shit like shadow people and figures dancing on the walls. Your HP would be your sanity, yeah i know it's been done before. Your main method of attack would be a finger gun you use to zap your hallucinations, mob psycho 100 style.
The twist is just looking at your hallucinations depletes your sanity. They can also attack you which largely depletes your sanity. You can choose to run but running also depletes your sanity because you're becoming more panicked. Basically anything that causes stress depletes your sanity which creates a lot of fight or flight situations. And of course there's be lots of psychological horror type stuff that would appear in the game like silent hill.

Or instead of being a horror fps it could be a character action game.
You'd be out in public and demons/hallucinations that only you can see would manifest out of nowhere and attack you. The trick is you can't fight when people are around because you'd look crazy obviously, so when it's fighting time you can either get somewhere secluded or cause a distraction and then fight the monsters.
You have an HP bar and a suspicion bar. You can't run though because that'd also raise suspicion. Being attacked also raises suspicion. There's a lot of ways this can go.

Also a game with monster design like pic related would be cool

Attached: 1556676341513.jpg (632x450, 102K)

You know, a more uneasy concept than DUDE GET TRAPPED AND THERE ARE MONSTERS XDDD would be discovering the dev room of life, which is just extremely lazy texturework and various test subjects, like a lever, a stream of water, real mandelbulb fractal, animals and people with only partial AI function, a room containing an entire sun, frosted glass, a kill implement, the earth's skybox, your dreamscapes, and so on just scattered around. Even if you could leave at any point the knowledge would just permanently fuck you up.

that one where you wind up in the abandoned original version of the game is basically the same as OP.

>do boring chores for ten minutes just to get a generic jumpscare
Piss off

This was surprisingly good. Thoroughly enjoyed my one playthrough, but not sure I’ll ever touch it again to see different paths.

I like the second idea. The appeal of DMC1 was that it was kind of like Resident Evil but with a protagonist that has no reason to be scared of anything on Malay Island except for Mundus and Nelo Angelo. The Style meter is like an internal thing for Dante, because he's playing around with the enemies to keep things lively. A game like DMC1 where the protagonist is actually still at a disadvantage is an interesting dynamic that hasn't been done before; your character is capable of all this insane stuff, but your enemies are just that much stronger and more horrifying.

The game was already shipped though

You people don't know horror until you have a sex dream and wake up to yourself jacking off and accidently shooting cum in your mouth, but that's not even the worst part. My brother inlaw was sleeping on the couch at the time, I still don't know if he ever saw it or not. I remembered this vividly 2 whole days after the fact.THIS is what keeps me up at night.

What's wrong with you?

Yes, I understand there’s an intense philosophical debate over whether pain and loss gives life meaning but I’m tired of it all and want perfect people to make a perfect world.

Maybe next time, Magnus.

Make them all perfect and then jack off to them all having perfect sex with each other.
Being God is probably the ultimate voyeur experience.

kek'd

I'd leave them imperfect and when they're about to create the perfect world I'd send hordes of Africans and Muslims to ruin it

this could make for a really interesting roguelike survival horror

How the fuck has nobody mentioned lost in vivo?!

As someone who exclusively plays horrors and holds silent hill 2 as my favorite game this game is as close as it comes to true horror in a somewhat retro package

10/10 soundtrack and doggos too

Will guarentee a good scoop that's not cheap. It also has randomised mode and NG+

I don't know why I laughed so hard at this, but it's fukken saved now

Yume nikki

There's literally nothing more terrifying than being confined to a nursing home, its an endless place of suffering and despair as you wait to die or be killed by other senile inmates.

>SCP-3999

Story: You took a step that was just like the thousands? millions? you had already taken in your life, without even thinking about it.

Except that step wasn't there. Before you even realized what was happening, you pitched forward into a black void, the only visiblr feature being a strange, inside-out version of your home that quickly vanished from sight above you as you fell.

Sauce?

These are way more true: My mother worked in a nursing home for around a decade or so and a staggering amount of the nurses (she worked at TWO and they were both supposed to be 'good') simply didn't care and often harmed, made the seniors extremely uncomfortable, or flat out abused them in some way or another due to the sheer apathy towards the position.
She said the worst offenders were the Africans and the Filipinos though who were often extremely racist, insensitive, and caused the cafeteria to stop serving the staff (it was still there, it was the centers cafeteria) because they complained it didn't serve any food they liked. So when this happened they started packing their own lunches and while the Africans ate actual normal food: the Filipinos would bring some of the most vile, disgusting, smelly, wretched, """"lunches"""".

You're not sure how long you were falling, or even if you were still falling, as there was no wind rushing past you or any feeling of motion, save the feeling of balance that told you that you were definitely tumbling slowly in the darkness. After some time, though, a speck appeared in the distance, and as it slowly drew close, you realized it was a plain wooden doorway, through which you could see what looked like a simple beige room beyond. Having no other visible object to fixate on, you stared at the doorway as it drew closer, and when you finally reached it, you caught the edge of the doorway and reoriented yourself so you wouldn't fall flat on your face if there was gravity on the other side, then stepped through.

Gameplay: You start off completely unprepared for adventuring, or even surviving, having been taken completely by surprise. You have to find a way to stave off hunger and thirst, using only the stuff you had in your pockets and whatever else you can find in the unending labyrinth of The Backrooms.

During which years?

I was reading this thread on /x/, I had a really similar concept for my autistic worldbuilding setting except instead of empty rooms it was pitch black public bathrooms. It seems like a pretty common thing because I even had someone in the thread say they had a dream about a place like that.

Ew. I liked it better when the picture had no context.

Yomawari felt like a horror game targeted at children. The designs are so goofy and the horror in it amounts to nothing more than weird monsters approaching you and if they touch you you get an image of their face on the screen. For me the most horrifying part of the game was when it kills the protagonist's dog two minutes in.

That sounds terrible, but outdated. People actually watch those places these days and retirement homes are going out of fashion for "senior living centers" which try and give seniors more to do so they aren't just laying around all day.

First person dungeon crawlers kinda give me the same vibe as that pic with the story is going for

Your dog gets lost in the sewers and you gotta go rescue it, shit gets real bad real quick.
I haven't finished it but it's pretty fucking spooky; the level design is based around assuming the player has claustrophobia, so there's tons of cramped hallways and tight corners that make it impossible to see what's coming. I've seen comparisons to the OG Silent Hills, which inspire it to some degree.

You know what makes something scary to me? Not understanding it.
Zombies, vampires, generic monsters, ghosts. I understand the rules these things operate on and I know how to deal with them. I know what they're capable of. Back when Dead Space came out the reason I was so scared because I had never seen anything like a necromorph. When I blew one's head off and it kept coming at me I shit my pants because it defied my expectations. It was playing by rules I didn't understand and I knew I had to figure them out quickly or die. I suppose that's why Junji Ito's work is so terrifying. Look at pic related. What rules does it play by? How do I deal with this?

Been chasing that sense of confusion and fear for a long time now. Can't seem to find it. Any suggestions?

She worked in 2-3 senior citizen centers from I think 2005 to 2017 or so.

>once you get used to the spooks
Fucking racist

Anyone got a link to get this guys games? Im not dropping 5 bux on his patreon for such tiny games.

Stuff like this would be scarier if you didn’t know you’d just starve to death before you could experience the enormity of it.

So you wouldn't change anything.

This, I always thought the game looked like it had potential, but when I finally played it I was disappointed.
But the dog dying was only the second worst part. The absolute worst was when you find the dog's body later in the game, confirming that it was really dead (I still had some hope that you could save it somehow). Dropped the game right there.
Shit wasn't even fun.

I’ll check it out. Thanks user.

What about a game where you get reduced to a microscopic level and every lifeform is trying to kill you while you ride around on dust particles and shit.

Then you shrink even more and shit gets trippy

look I don't hold any bad mojo about spooks, some of my best friends a spooks, I'm just saying they're not for everyone

Attached: 1443494111477.jpg (500x651, 199K)

What if you got reduced to a microscopic level but a girl stepped on you haha

>When I blew one's head off and it kept coming at me I shit my pants because it defied my expectations.
I guess you missed all the marketing because "if you blow the head off they'll keep coming at you so you need to blow off their limbs instead" was touted constantly in press releases, interviews, and trailers as a selling point. I remember they also said that if you blew off an enemy's head they'd grow a new limb to attack you with but I don't think I ever actually did that since I knew going in not to bother, so I don't know if that was in the game or not.

The witches house

Imagine if you were to fall on her cereal and she ate you on accident haha wouldn't that be weird? haha

its a first person shooter in the quake engine sorry

>animals have fallen into The Backrooms too
>for millions of years
>evolved in all sorts of unexpected ways
>other people have as well

What scares me is that in its dying electrochemical transfers, the brain hallucinates and then goes out, and that there's a decent to good chance that the last things people experience is a nightmare of a hallucination as their mind degrades into inert matter

>its a first person shooter in the quake engine
Stop now and come up with a better game. Last thing we need is another fps horror game.

>infinite procedural generated area
>quake engine
if you can pull that off NASA should hire you

Just believe in God, bro. Then you won't have to suffer an endless, meaningless abyss.

isnt it funny trans people make games too now user

Surprised nobody said Siren.
It's a bit campy but it's still a pretty horrifying adult fear type game.

The problem with most horror games is the become a lot less scary as you play because you learn how to abuse the AI or pathfinding of enemies. Or they're just horror themed puzzle games with shit puzzles.

Also they tend to lack replayability because once something spooked you, it probably won't spooked you again. An ideal horror game for me would be one that is completely randomized each time you play. Whatever the setting is, the layout is random, enemy density and location is random, item locations are random (not random enough to soft lock the game, but you know). I think alien isolation did this to some extent but I never played it.

>isn't it scary
Yes.

There's no decent chance of that at all. The most widely reported "final hallucination" is the light at the end of a tunnel because the brain is starved of blood/oxygen/nutrients and overflowing with pain/dopamine so it lacks the processing power to render a decent final cutscene.

no thats actually exactly what we need more of because FEAR is one of the best shooter games ever made and FEAR in the quake engine runs on every homebrew platform ever made

fuck off phonefag

adult why? because boobies?

Nope, not watching.

real talk, how is that game. Premise is interesting, graphics are nice, the fact that all of hte enemies are clones of yourself is honestly stupid and CLEARLY just a result of lazy design and not wanting to make other models, regardless of whatever stupid in-universe explanation they give. But I like stealth games. Is the game worth playing? anything to unlock or strive for outside of story?

Looks like a more intense version of the Old Doll or Lovely Doll from Persona Q.

They're all unanimously shit too, go figure.

Darkwood did it right. The map is scrambled and the game draws from a random pool of events that can happen every night to keep you guessing. It's not much, the core of the game remains the same, but it's enough to add replay value to what would otherwise be another static story that loses all its charm after one playthrough. Nearly all horror games can learn from the design choices in Darkwood.

So basically "what if amnesia and penumbra were combined"?

Exactly my thoughts. It might be a good game conceptually but the lack of shadows in an horror/atmospheric game is impossible to overlook.

he's a faggot and just pumps it at the very end a few times. He never hyper extends. Trust me I seek the gore but this was not what you think.

wtf when did they make lazy spoiler tags for phoneposters

I'll answer that question if you define exactly every word in that sentence.

Walls, lights, carpets are all recent technology, relatively speaking. How would a paranormal dimension have recent manmade technology? Did they watch humans build offices and learn from them?

Attached: nony.jpg (462x282, 32K)

it's a result of being made by a tiny indie company that already went under.

there are a ton of hidden message fragments to unlock, and extra energy storage for your suit.

there are a few good segments for stealth but the majority of the time I was just running through enemies like a football player, then when the lights go out you open fire (they won't copy your abilities when the lights are out). the level design often features large open areas with no way around enemies so you just gotta make your own way then hide somewhere before you get overwhelmed.

Attached: 20180602223208_1.jpg (1920x1080, 453K)

>4 digits
"No!"

yomawari is one of the most dissappointing horror games I have ever played, sadly. is the sequel better?

The definition of words is the meaning of their definition.

Bubba Ho-Tep with Bruce Campbell touched on this.

The answer is that Reality is less than 5 minutes old. Your memories of your entire lifetime are all just a delusion.

so all you unlock is bullshit story/lore docs and extra energy storage? I never understand this, why the fuck would you make a game and make your collectables/unlockables SO goddamn boring. Why would anybody give a shit to go for this stuff. Well thats unfortunate, might pirate one day.

Clearly it's a construct of the mind, fixing non-descript objects with human interpretation of them. To an alien, someone who has no understanding of walls, lights, carpets, they would clearly interpret the 'room' in their own way.

>people think "cool i gotta inspect items closely for some quests"
lol no its just the claws and a couple easter eggs, and NO indication in-game of the whole fucking claw thing so anyone who avoided promo material was lost

Adult fear is a trope user.

But wouldn't being killed by whatever is lurking be better than endlessly wandering around those horrible corridors?

Sleep paralysis. I rarely ever get scared by things anymore.

Another great idea that's either underused or misunderstood is being trapped in an area with no hope of escape and just surviving. Stuff where you're delaying the inevitable.

have you paid much attention to what living is like lately, bud?
any fetish that ends in death is immediately given free points

I don't see the problem here. The lack of shadows and the lack of enemy model are valid criticism, I probably won't touch this title for these reasons alone, but unlocking lore and suit upgrades is basic philosophy in game design. What exactly would you prefer, removing all secret areas with lore/upgrades and shipping the game with a book that contains the whole story?

Shut the fuck up or I'll give you a butthole block with my cheesy smegma dick.

>being killed
you're not supposed to be killed
you're supposed to kill it

Why?

>What rules does it play by? How do I deal with this?
It's a worm-thing, dumbfuck. You shoot it, saw it, or run away. Lord above please help this man get some taste.

>before rooms were invented
>he doesn't know that life has always been like this

Protip: Just shoot it until it dies

info docs are fine for a hidden item but that can't be the ONLY hidden item. Haven't played the game, but I think its safe to assume due to its apparent budget that the story is not some amazing grand epic that will enthrall anybody for years to come. If that was the case, fine, whatever, finding out more of the story would be a worthwhile chase. But this isn't the case. Beyond that, the other unlockable isn't "suit upgrades", its just "extra storage". A worthy unlockable/hidden item would be a NEW suit power, or a NEW weapon, something that enhances the gameplay and gives you new ways to interact with it. Not just being able to do slightly more of X.

>gameplay has to be combat
i hate this meme
horror should always default to puzzle-based gameplay, survival or otherwise
horror based in spooky monsters is the lowest form of horror, so having monsters at all guarantees your game is going to have some points knocked off
Silent Hill 2's scariest element was the soundtrack paired with the world design.
That and the clock puzzle.

It's kinda limited to ending scenes for video games. If it's in the middle of the game, if you just made a wrong move and now you're trapped fighting unlimited enemies until you die, all reviews will call it bad design and they'll be right. Players will quickly learn to recognize the infinite bad end situation and they'll start reloading the game, not wanting to waste 5 minutes of their time, and it'll ruin their mood. In nearly all games across the board "fights that you are forced to lose" are infamous for being annoying.

I think user meant the entire game would be that concept, and it would be foreshadowed but otherwise (You) wouldn't know it until nearing the end.
More of a storytelling aspect than a straight horror element.

?

combat can be puzzle based. anything you can beat JUST by following a guide is not a real game

>horror should always
fear is subjective. your arbitrary restrictions on what a horror game should and shouldn't have would make a great game for you and not so much everyone else.

i knew a guy in my wow guild who worked at an old folks home and he was such a piece of shit. would tell us all sorts of shit about his patients.

sorry to break it to ya, but one of the core pillars of primal fear in humans is fear of the unknown. Being helpless against the unknown can greatly amplify the effect. The second you have the ability to fight back against it, it becomes less scary and less about being scary and more about growth. Growing strong and growing passed the fear. Why you would want such an experience when the point for the game is to cause you to be afraid, I don't know. Probably because of the games=fun argument, but fun is subjective. Some people find fun in being afraid, thrillseekers and so on.

Attached: 1533712213315.jpg (500x375, 37K)

no?

>When I blew one's head off and it kept coming at me I shit my pants because it defied my expectations.
Did you just miss the twenty times the game tells you to shoot the limbs as the only way to kill them? It's actually kind of ridiculous how many times they say it.

A walking simulator isn't any fun either.

learning to run/hide from invincible monsters has the same problem though, it just comes down to learning how their AI and patterns work instead of learning to fight it more literally.

Pretty sure the old people are the things wandering around that heard you.

>it becomes less scary and less about being scary and more about growth
100% disagree. The whole Amnesia, Outlast thing was fun while it lasted but it turned games less scary because you KNEW you couldn't fight back, meaning "see spooky thing, hear orchestra having a seizure, run" pattern.
What's scarier? Knowing you're only option is running away or having powerful enemies surround you while you struggle to survive?
One of the reasons why Alien Isolation works so well is because they find a nice balance between the two. You can fight and kill the Working Joe's but you can only delay the Xenomorph.
Or take Resident Evil 1? You can fight back but the ammo scarcity, limited inventory space leads to much more tense situations than just "see enemy, run like a bitch". Same for Silent Hill. You swing around a pipe like a man that's never tried hitting anyone. You're not fully in control of the environment but you can fight back.

Attached: 1465504523101.jpg (500x600, 87K)

the most fear i've felt from a video game recently was in sekiro. i'm afraid of the ocean and any part that let me swim around had me shitting myself for fear of something being in the water but as soon as the game allowed me to start diving under the surface all the tension was gone because i could see everything.
pretty much every horror game is the same because once you see an enemy or experience a scripted scenario once it's done forever and there's no reason to be scared of that thing again. the only lasting fear i've ever felt in games is when you're forced to fight something but your means of doing so is hindered or difficult in some way that makes you panic.

Not really a game, but exploring Worlds.com with Yea Forums was incredibly fun, and it is defintively a weird and sometimes spooky game

Yeah things where you're trapped in hell and there's a slim chance to escape and you go for it knowing it's nearly impossible. Things like that.

It's an intentional aesthetic choice obviously.
It leaves me with a very eerie impression, like htat room in 2001.

>3999
That number is too big to be acceptable, please try again.

This is me a few years ago except it was a recurring dream I was travelling through a fantasy land with my literal dream girl and it was all perfect, but once I started waking up she told me it was time to go. and the last thing I remember was seeing the dreamworld crumble around me while she smiled at me with tears rolling down her face. I haven't been back to that dreamworld since and I've never found a girl I felt that strongly about since. Fuck my life, why did the best thing to ever happen to me happen in a dream?

Attached: 35000ft above feel level.jpg (1271x697, 147K)

I used to get high on cough syrup and run around a few worlds while I was hitting my plateau.
Fun stuff, fuck nexialist.

I wouldn't open this if I were you. Either way
>the only lasting fear i've ever felt in games is when you're forced to fight something but your means of doing so is hindered or difficult in some way that makes you panic.
Completely agree. When I was playing Layers of Fear, despite some cool ideas and nice visuals, once I realized the whole gimmick of "level changes behind your back", I just made it into my own game. I started to run everywhere to see if I could break the game, running inside a room, spin 360º degrees as fast as possible and run out, started telling jokes to myself like "Let's see what's behind door number 2, Susan. Oh look, another hallway."
It's why survival horror, when balanced right, is infinitely more scary and more horrifying than "just run away because you can't fight back".

Ito wrote a story about you.

fucking hell why did i open it

worlds was fun as hell
running through the blair witch areas and getting lost in that one house where people straight up vanished (i think) around corners was top spooky

I had a dream sort of like this once. I was in this school like a university in the science building, and I had to go with someone into the lower floors to look for something. We got on this elevator and started to go down but even after the indicator hit the actual basement floor, it just kept going and counting down. It opened up fifteen floors below the basement and looked exactly like the floor we had come from, except everything was covered in this really oppressive and thick darkness that was hard to see in even with flashlights. We walked around down there for a while. It was so quiet that it was almost dead. Even our footsteps got muffled by the darkness. Eventually we walked into one of the labs and I heard something like a extremely loud hum that felt like it was vibrating every part of my body, and I saw a warm light like a flickering fire coming around a corner and through the doorway, but I woke up before I saw what it was. The only thing I can really compare it to was the feeling I got when I was reading House of Leaves.

kek

We already had this figured out since long ago, and Lovecraft capitalized on it.

Theseus' ship. It's the same theory with using teleporters. In something like Star Trek, are they all dying, only to be replaced by a perfect copy that believes to be the original?

>When I blew one's head off and it kept coming at me I shit my pants because it defied my expectations.
What do you mean by this? The game tells you three times in a row to cut off their limbs.

That place is in my recurring dream. The thing is a hunched over young woman with a face that is indistict in a way that leaves no trace of any of its detail in my memory. It comes after me not just when it sees me, but if I happen to see it first it instantly knows. I don't remember what happens when it catches me but usually the rooms are laid out in a configuration that leaves me exactly no extra time to run away as fast as I can. Meaning that when I slam the door behind me, it's millimeters away.

Sea stuff is terrifying. Having almost drown twice, that shit left an impact. Also the fact that we can look to the farther stars but the Mariana's trench is still this black hole on earth.

Try enabling cheat codes

That's just how we perceive reality, your mind is filling in the blanks and the void.

>its ok, I have spooky friends
Thats what they all say. I'm sure you call them your spooka too.

And the trumblegold i can't find it they took it down by the docks and they said a different name
F for ytmnd btw, nigger

>the Mariana's trench is still this black hole on earth.
actually just last month someone went on an expedition and reached the bottom. supposedly he found a few new species and a plastic bag.

Nice warm house

Attached: Winter_Lodge.jpg (820x580, 281K)

>and a plastic bag.
Fucking hell. I guess that's still better than the bodies that litter mt. Everest

Not sure if I'd call it a "Horror" game, but perhaps try Subnautica if you haven't already. Don't read any spoilers or look up any items, and it retains a strange, incredibly creepy alone-ness that I haven't really found anywhere else in gaming. You are constantly surrounded by yawning emptiness and massive things that want to eat you at the same time. It really sets the stage well, but its not procedurally generated, so once you've seen everything there is to see it kinda loses its panache. Really hoping Below Zero turns out as good as the original.

I keep having this dream that i'm back at school, but at the same time kind of not. I can kinda come and go as i please, or i realize in the dream that shit i'm still a pupil here and kinda have to do stuff, and i never been called out on it by teachers. Another dream is often being back at my grandparent's old house that burnt down, and either i'm staying there or traveling there and things happen.

Isn't the pressure too great for there to be plastic anything?

fuck man

That reminds me GTA:SA, clipping in some places would trap you in yellow colored motel rooms

Oh shit, didn't know. Pretty impressive.
>and a plastic bag
I guess there really is no place on Earth that's untouched by us.

I'd install a model fix that makes ugly people attractive.

Did you somehow completely miss the giant blood writing on the wall directly behind the table where you get your first weapon? And all the other times the NPCs tell you to shoot the limbs?

There's living creatures there, you think a plastic bag can't make it?

Those creatures have adapted.

I cringe when I see people put their hands on their knees. Just begging it to bend the wrong way.

What would this do to thots? What would happen if all women were pretty so they could no longer get jobs based on looks?

ive actually had a reoccurring dream like this
usually its
>wake up laying on my back staring at the ceiling
>ground has about an inch of some liquid
>room is white but can still see small details of the walls and ceiling
>humbuzz of lights above
>nothing happens, ever
>just sit around until i fall asleep again, which leads to actually waking up in the real world

am i just that fucking boring that i cant even have spooky dreams? just this shit?

I'd make it so that women absolutely cannot get pregnant without wanting to. Also delete all STDs/STIs.

There is a Donald Duck comic about exactly this.

Videos like this gave me leg press phobia

They would be judged on their fashion sense of course.

Donald duck comics sometimes have creepy things.

>clip out of reality
>realize that you were the designer all along
>you have been using your going into games machine this whole time

>blueballs: the video game with a dumb plot about lesbians

Wholesome user

>Sleep paralysis
I used to be scared of the darknow it terrifies me

Attached: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.gif (480x480, 669K)

>get rid of all consequences of casual sex
You sound like a roastie

id be fucking terrified if i noclipped back into my wagecage

This desu

walking around at 2 in the morning in a high crime density neighborhood, not a person in sight, mismatch of architecture, old beat up cars to new cars, closed up schools with broken windows, little convenience stores in prime locations closed and completely empty on the inside, a golf field next to the sea next to an construction yard with tools laying around, buildings for sale with lights on in them

so quiet that you can hear the own reverb of your own voice, walk up a hill and see into the third floor of an apartment to see a window that's dimly lit, a raggedy coat hung up on the door with no furniture in sight, go lower down to see a dark room with the television set to a still grayscale shot of cars moving down a street

then walk home not even fifteen minutes away feeling bored

I doubt 99% of humanity would have the skills necessary to perfect humans.
I would probably either create a monster race or some poor deformed creatures with tiny life expectencys on accident

And you sound like a bitter religious guy, i'm not the user you're replying to. I do agree women today are thots, but casual sex is a thing. Most people you see have sex often, and a lot.

In Cabin in the Woods
When the girl is making out with the wolf head on the wall I was honestly unironically expecting it to be alive and maul her face.

It's the Yea Forums equivalent of Gone Home

>Sleep paralysis
Used to be the bane of my existence. For about a year there was a 50/50 chance I'd wake up that way.

I'd add a character editor exclusively for poor people. When they've gone through it they wake up and think their life is an inaccurate dream, and that they've always looked as they do. Yes it would include gender edit. Yes it would allow for real life futa, too.

Also except women would get pregnant literally every time they had sex.

Attached: based.png (1000x1000, 225K)

post it

i went into SOMA expecting a bunch of weird deep sea shit like this, but theres not much unfortunately. weird deep sea bullshit could make for a pretty cool game though

Attached: 1473472528777.jpg (2048x3072, 747K)

>I would probably either create a monster race
Get ready for it, user.
Once mankind gets ahold of actual space travel it's the Captain's laws on the ship, forever.
I expect 90% colored human "furries", 5% actual furries and 5% actually creative mutations.

>being a whore is ok
Whatever you want to delude yourself into thinking, I guess.

I had it a few times but didn't know what it was until I was older. I just thought they were very realistic nightmares which I had a lot of when I was young so I mostly forgot about it

Why the fuck are dreams so cryptic, full of symbolism and weird? What's even the point of dreams? Given their complexity, I refuse to believe that they're just an evolutionary byproduct, clearly they have their function.
Holy hell, I had the blessing of waking up to it with my eyes closed, facing a wall. Still fucking terrifying. The incomprehensible whispering straight into my ear was the worst part, I swear I felt it's breath on my ear.

Attached: 1510780734698.jpg (1020x677, 24K)

>you're a whore for having sex
Would you explain why user, i'm pretty sure you can't.

>cannot get pregnant without wanting to
As someone who's ex once tried to get herself pregnant without telling me, that sounds awful.

the true horror is when you fall in love with the person in your dreams
again

Subverted™

So do you not understand the prefix “necro” or something? How could you possibly be surprised when you shot its head? They’re basically just zombie aliens. I’m a huge pussy who is scared of most horror games, but dead space was so dull.

keep it light baby!

A dream I had multiple times growing up was wandering around places that looked like this that went on forever. Part of the fear came from being unable to tell where I'd already been and if I was just going in circles.
Sometimes there were variations, like I'd be able to look out a window but I never did, or when I was in a multiple-floored bathroom, and I kept walking down the stairs but never got to the ground floor

>MUH PURITY
It's a solution to overpopulation. Horny teenagers can live their creampie fetishes while people actually unironically 100% looking for a kid can have a fucking kid.
Orphanages go extinct, there's enough food for everyone, etc.

Someday I want a dev team not comprised of faggots to make a subnautica-esce game that is actually scary and isn't ruined by dumb creature designs and journal entries that explain pretty much everything about the area you are exploring for you

I'm a product of that sort of thing. It goes without saying that my existence sucks.

That image reminds me a lot of the underground maze from Silent Hill 2.

Because you're having sex with multiple people who you don't even care about purely for pleasure. 7 deadly sins and all that.

>Wake up with sleep paralysis
>Realize what's going on
>Rationalize that I know I'm alone and this will pass
>Can only get a glimpse of the front door
>I know I closed it, I know it's closed, don't freak out
>Fucking thing looks ajar
Fucking sleep paralysis, man.
Also, I believe the current theory for why we dream is the brain sorting through information you collected. That's why it comes off fragmented where you're seeing clearly unusual stuff but you just accept it. It's the brain taking bits and pieces of everything you saw, heard, thought, etc.

I know that feel

Attached: o-ok....jpg (300x275, 41K)

more weird shit that's hard to comprehend at a glance, or maybe even after staring for a while

Also letting the fear come in stages, where you build up the player's confidence and familiarity with things then rip it all out from under them with something new they can't deal with. You'd have to make sure it doesn't become formulaic and predictable, but it shoudl be there somewhere. Something that breaks all the rules you had come to learn so far. It would have to be something you can run from or can only barely scrape by though, not like a boss that you need to now understand to progress since that would kind of defeat its purpose.

Attached: 1422134877794.jpg (1033x922, 238K)

>7 deadly sins
So you're bringing religious nonsense into this. I've slept with nine girls, and i will admit that removing most of the people from that list wouldn't really matter. Sex with a girl you actually care about and like being around is way, way better. But casual sex is a thing and with todays birth controls and morning after pills it's not really the potential life changing event it's meant to be biologically.

Had a dream like PT but with a picture frame being the loop of the room instead of a door.
Pretty spooky.

Sorry for that. Last I heard she was successful with the guy that came, no pun intended, after me. I feel sorry for the poor kid who's roped into that.

It would be interesting to see what this would do to the world’s economies- especially in countries like China and India. What would happen if birth rates plummeted by like 50%?

Yeah, it fucking sucks big time. It's an awful feeling.

>Can only get a glimpse of the front door
>I know I closed it, I know it's closed, don't freak out
>Fucking thing looks ajar
In nightmares the thing that is casually mentioned in Inception happens every time. You perceive the world the same time as you're creating it because your "vision" happens in the same part of the brain as the imagination that forms the thing you're seeing. Due to the fact that you really, really don't want the door to be open, it is.

Obnoxious weed user here,

Does weed make you less scared of shit? I don't get the creeps at this stuff like I used to and it seemed to start happening after I became a degenerate

Attached: thunk.png (2688x2688, 173K)

>dude is inviting monster on a date
>she accepts and turns into a more humanoid form
>dude dont instantly lose interest or tell her to revert back

Fucking retard artist, that is going against the entire point of the comic.

Dreams can get fucking weird. For instance, I had this one last night;
>In some unknown college, exterior looks like a hotel/pizza place hybrid
>Guy walks up to me and tries explaining the proper way to make a taco shell
>For some reason, I pull out a tortilla wrap that's got a fucking 10' diameter and start rolling the biggest mexican food doobie I can
Then I'm off to meet my mother who's picking me up
>Suddenly I'm in a subway station being chased by a zombie dog
>I slam a random chain fence in the middle of the station, think I'm fine
>Zombie dog breaks the fucking fence down, chase continues
>I finally arrive at my mother's ride, hop in
>wait this isn't my mom, the fuck is this random fungal corpse from 1833 doing in this car?
>Dog tries to attack me, but I shut the vehicle door
>Wake up before anything odd happens

I legit have no fucking clue what that dream was actually about, but I recall the last act vividly. I wish I had the talent to turn my weird dreams into games.

If you dream of being naked in front of people and being embarrassed by it, you need to open up to people. Apart from that i don't know the meaning of other dreams. Ive had one where i just ran away from a giant dinosaur while throwing small fireballs at it...

As for sleep paralysis the distorted and fucked up looking black figures are the worst, especially the ones with only 2 round eyes

>while being stalked by clones of yourself
Welp, I'm sold.
Gonna give it a try, dunno how I missed that game.

I wish shared dreaming was a thing. It's quite facinating the enviroments and people your brain is able to create.

If I'm lucky, this shitshow of a life is that nightmare and I've already died.

>Does weed make you less scared of shit?

yeah, but it also can have the contrary effect

But user you can't die.....you need to suffer through E3 2019 first

source?

just google it. there's several articles that come up.

This one was pretty spooky though I think the DS-era lowpoly models made it creepier for me

Attached: 220px-Nanashi_no_Game.jpg (220x200, 16K)

Well it I almost wish I had the contrary effect. I used to get high off of fear in a weird way when playing or watching horror shit. Damn I need to stop smoking

>It's the I'm about to get laid with this hottie dream

>tfw the E3 threads when it airs
i love it.

>in a dream dying for a piss
>find a bathroom
>in the stall next to mine, someone is getting violently murdered
>get out and knock on the door
>"excuse me but i'm trying to piss and the noise you're making is disturbing me"
>"sorry mate, hang on"
>drags the screaming bloody victim through a door into a fancy looking cocktail party
>resume my piss

>be 15 years old
>pretending to be a girl because reject
>always play with this girl
>she sends me pics of herself
>always lie about my identity and larp as an e-celeb
>one day have a dream of her
>she just looks at me in the eyes for the entire dream
>wake up the next day, she unfriended me in game
>stops talking to me on forums
That fucked me up so bad I can't lie irl anymore

I keep having this stupid dream about realizing just at the end of a semester that there was a whole class I completely forgot about and never went to it. I'm not even in college anymore ffs.

Attached: 1406904517764.jpg (462x462, 79K)

Any games like RDR2 or BOTW but with creepy shit? Not outright scary OOGA BOOGA BOOGA jumpscares but just unsettling and sometimes unexplained stuff?

>figure out it's a dream and that you can do anything with no consequences

TAKE ME DOWN TO THE BACK SNAP CITY

AND THE BONES ARE CRIPSY

Attached: giphy.gif (347x191, 912K)

Are you telling me this isn't Warframe?

the fuck is that black slimy thing in the top center picture?

Are you me? I have that same dream all the time. Usually it's about like me getting good grades in all my other classes but I just missed one entirely and get extreme anxiety whenever I think about it.

Holy shit that's kind of what my dreams are like too. Me realizing i have school to go to, or that i kind of already is at school.

>used to hate the cringe parts of e3
>now enjoy them immensely along with everything due to the reactions of everyone else

e3 is the best cringe/hype-fest of the year

aye same shit, had them constantly while i was still in college too and made me feel like i was losing my mind

I have similar dreams but very often I dream about being back in high school with my real current age, memories and status. Like, Ill be sat in a class but I have to be at my actual irl job at the same time

Are the toilets nasty as fuck in your dreams too anons? When i need to pee the bathroms in dreams are always bad.

On reality all women are monsters, user. If you ever go on a date they are all doing exactly the same thing as in that comic.

Makes sense. I once had a sleep paralysis experience where I felt like I could inch my foot, ever so slightly. My idea was that I'd inch it to the side of the bed and then push as leverage. Then my body would fall over and hopefully force by body to wake up.
So there I am, slowly moving it, feeling the fabric curl against it, get my foot over the side, summon all my strength to push.
I hadn't moved an inch. Had the same sensation of walking up a flight of stairs and having that slight falling sensation when you realize there isn't a last step. It's the closest I've come to feeling some sort of phantom limb syndrome. My body felt what my body didn't.
Fucking brain, how does it work?

>figure out it's a dream and that you can do anything with no consequences

>Guy with a m60 machinegun in front of me
>laugh at him and tell him that it's just a dream and he can't hurt me
>he starts shooting at me
>laugh it off
>he looks confused/scared and stops shooting
>look down at my belly
>there's a giant fucking round hole in it
>panic and wake up

>Lost in Vivo
literally the worst game i’ve ever played. why was it so hyped up?

Kinda similar, I get a phonecall or email telling me I haven't finished a class and need to go back to college right now to finish it. And all I get is this feeling of dread and that I'm out of my depth and also my computer isn't working properly and I can't find my notes.

>Ive had one where i just ran away from a giant dinosaur while throwing small fireballs at it...
TAKE THAT GAY BOWSER

>that one woman who couldnt take the weights and had her legs bend the wrong way

I dont get why people do shit like that.
Just by looking you can tell the exercise is doing more worse than improving anything.

Attached: 1425625827990.jpg (428x692, 166K)

>had sleep paralysis once
>I HAVE HEARD ABOUT THIS AND I AM READY BRING IT ON
>nothing happens and I just lay waiting for something scary to pop up

Maybe the real fear was the anticipation for me

>Don't worry, I won't die.
Is that you Carlos?

f-fuck you

I usually only get the classic
>Oh shit, this hot girl and I are about to go down
>Start reaching to unstrap the bra
>BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
>Alarm clock goes off
>Quickly try to set for five more minutes to see if I can return to my dream

My biggest fear is to achieve immortality and to be stuck in a white room forever with only the ground to sleep on.
Every moment you will be confronted with the fact that you will stay there forever.

What would you do? Would you bother to do some excercise just to tire yourself out? Would you develop stories in your head for the rest of eternity. Would you practice meditation for the entire day?

That would be hell.

Anyone have recurring made up places in their dreams? I do but they rarely stick around in my dreams for more than a couple of months. Right now sometimes in my dream there's a roadside service station outside my town with a Burger King, a cinema, bowling alley and a gas station. In the past theres been streets, malls, motorways and buildings that appear in multiple dreams but arent real but are always consistent in location and content.

If we follow this logic then consciousness would almost certainly transfer considering the "you" that your cells make up now is totally different from the you even a year ago

For me personally, i think it's a mix between not having done as well at school as i could have, or not made more friends or experiences out of it as i could have had. Or not choosing the right thing, i still have some subjects i want to do too.

A dragonfish

>dream about having superpowers
>as the dream goes on it gets a little more lucid and you have more self awareness and control
>superpowers stop fucking working

I hate these. Sometimes it gets replaced with high school. I'm not the only one.

Puppet Combo's latest offering, The Riverside Incident, is extremely unsettling. Paratropic is another indie game that just creeps one out. Gotta mention Anatomy, too.

I have that exact dream all the time. I was always diligent in school too, so it’s not like anything like that actually ever happened. Apparently it’s a very common dream.

I also frequently have dreams where my teeth start falling out.

This thread really makes me want to use a dream journal. Have forgotten all the dreams i had in the past year.

League of Legends has a character like this, Renekton.

Turns into a crazy angry psychopath

Everyone thinks that realism is scary when in fact it’s the imagination of the person that makes things scary

Attached: 1555516018521.png (1280x852, 1.52M)

>absolutely terrified i'll be trapped in a worse nightmare for a perceived eternity while i gasp my last breaths
You're gonna form a new strange way of talking when you wake up, and then turn to dust when you fall back asleep again.

Now i understand him more i guess. I would turn insane within the first day because you realize there isn't a point in keeping your sanity.

Day?

And what do you define as your consciouness? The awareness of thought? The collection of all the atoms making all the same brain connections? A soul?

unironically used to have dreams like that all the time as a kid
also had dreams where I'd just be stuck in extreme climates until I died of exposure
or I'd just be running through endless, highly colorful flora with humid air as my senses grew sharper and sharper until I blacked out
took a lot of work to stop having those dreams

If you're drawn to weird dream logic in stories, pick up a book called The Unconsoled by Kazuo Ishiguro. Probably the best adaptation of a baffling stress dream into any medium yet.

>That dream where you're on your knees and you can't physically get up without falling over

Attached: IMG_20190506_082246.jpg (640x920, 37K)

Yeah totally. Most of those isolation experiment already reported brain damage within 3 days, while those people knew they would eventually get out.

I hate when this happens.
>Having casual dream
>Oh shit, this is a dream, therefore I'm in control
>Wake up
>Lay with my eyes open wondering all the cool shit I could've done

I'm just gonna take a moment to say that i really enjoy "off topic" threads on Yea Forums sometimes. They can be pretty damn good.

>Be 13
>Fantasise about my dream girl all day long
>Go to sleep
>Wake up in a dream, with my dream girl right there
>Silently hug until the dream starts falling apart
>"This is the only time we'll ever meet, but I'm glad we got this much at least."

Never had that one but I've had the one where it feels like trying to walk against a strong wind, so you're at like a 20 degree angle, never falling but never managing to get a single step.

i wonder how well certain horror stories might translate into a game.
youtube.com/watch?v=Wm1iH6EIMAA

I always have one where I need to run for whatever reason but I can’t remember how and I just end up awkwardly skipping or galloping like a horse.

>That dream where you jump off a building to kill yourself

i had that shit pop up weekly for years

Ib definitely fits that description.

Attached: ib depths.png (641x481, 26K)

They're rare but it's fun. It's just a casual conversation about random subjects while sometimes talking how it could be related to gaming.

Don't think about anything, don't move, close you eyes and go back to sleep and you'll end up in a similar dream, it wont be the same, but you'll be in control of it.

>do a frontflip and jump in a pool of water
>wait it's water i can't breathe
>hold my breath until i'm about to pass out
>decide to breathe anyway since im about to die
>realize it's just a dream
It's probably the only time a dream was dangerous to me

Off topic threads are, and will always be, the best threads on this whole website. Yea Forums users are notoriously bad at discussing the subject matter of their respective boards without it devolving into shitposting.

What's the source anyway? I'm not getting anything.

That's weird

In the last dream I had I got drunk on mountain dew and vodka while on a business trip

ib was an okay game but holy fuck did the anime girl pandering get annoying

but i guess you cant get retarded low iq faggots to play your game unless you can save anime girls from some gay stupid shit

Had similar dreams, except where I was being chased by shadow figures. One time it was exceptionally dark and I was trying to get out with someone.

Did you also get that jump once you hit the ground? What used to happen was that the second I was going to hit the ground, my body in real life would jump into position, so my legs, arms and head would be curved as if I had fallen facing up.

>That dream where I start flying, realise it's a dream and start killing civilians by diving into them
>It happens on a regular basis

sounds comfy tbqh

You ever have dreams where fictional, animated characters are real but when you wake up you cant remember whether it was some Roger Rabbit shit, a real lookalike or if it was just a stranger that was supposed to be them? I have a distinct memory of a dream about Sideshow Bob trying to kill me but I dont remember what he looked like

Well that's certainly weird because i was a NEET for 2 years, didn't even speak to cashiers when getting food and the only bad thing that happened to me was forgetting how to speak

Fuck me I remember this now copy pasta from what now feels like a million years ago

>Don't think about anything, don't move, close you eyes and go back to sleep and you'll end up in a similar dream, it wont be the same, but you'll be in control of it.
I've been getting better at that. It's pretty cool to realize you're awake but if you're quick enough you can get back on it.

I think it's funny how we are all talking about mysterious inner-workings of our brain. Why do get these weird and sometimes beautiful dreams. Why don't we understand our bodies?

>tfw can only stay on topic in off-topic threads

Attached: 1557678020818.jpg (1200x1187, 127K)

But you weren't stuck, you could communicate with people if you wanted to and you had shit to do.

Yeah if we could somehow unlock the ability to view our dreams later, or have shared dreams it'd be awesome. Could hang out with people, and do things while you're resting.

It's so weird how your brain can create environments, people talking, and all of that.

>realise i'm in a dream
>"this is pretty fucking neat, I should see what it's like to fly"
>can literally only fly while stood bolt upright, and only sideways, not forward or backwards
>crash into a tree ultra hard and wake up
>never managed to lucid dream ever again

It's the Catch 22 of Yea Forums.

Switch to a heady bud, something strong.
Literally ask if it will give you paranoia, if they say yes — perfect.
Played Darkwoods this way and it was intense.

>Why don't we understand our bodies?
No animal understands it’s body. We’re the closest anything has ever gotten to doing so but the brain is extremely complex.

If you were a teenager at the time you might have excuse for that, and unless your brother in law is a massive jerk, why would you be worried about having wet dream?

sometimes when i walk home at night, i take a shortcut by the playground. Sometimes there’s an extra slide that’s not there during the day.

ive had that also

>dream where you can't breathe

Fuck, that reminds me of another user's story. It was in a thread like this, and he said something about meeting the same girl in multiple dreams and trying to find her in real life. Then people started suggesting ways for them to meet up or something. Wonder what he's up to now.

cute dog

Why don’t you try it out and post a vid user?
You arn’t a pansy are ya?

>user

The worst is when you’re having a good off-topic thread like this and then some sour puss mod comes and deletes it.

I mean I understand that some degree of moderation is necessary or every board would just be Yea Forums, but if there’s only a couple of off-topic threads up I wish they’d just let us have our fun since the post quality is much higher in these threads.

“They just grew there, overnight. People were horrified. If we cut them down, they’d just grow back. And just kind of…Sway. By the time anybody official took a look at them, they’d already cracked open, and we found out what their spores could do if you breathed em’ in.”

Agreed. Some good threads have been shut down due to some mod. LIke you say, i get that we can't have too many of them. But there are sometimes really interesting threads.

flying in dreams is fun when you get used to it. it took a couple of tries before my brain comprehended what i was trying to do and let me do it

Your friend has severe guilt over something and his brain is manifesting that as a person chasing him

Detention, great setting and atmosphere that gets under your skin, very few monsters but the ones that show up are fucking terrifying, and it has a great story too.

>having a great dream
>loud as fuck "Hey!" out of nowhere

Fuck exploding head syndrome.

In the end, i guess we all just want a girl to love us. No matter if it's r9k, pol, tv, or v.

I know it's a general spooky thread at this point but Pathologic took what I predicted would be a really cliche plot twist and instead wove it into a pretty disturbing theme encompassing most of the plot. The theater stuff is neat and obviously iconic of the game at this point but everything to do with the bull really muddles the value of life, it's really a testament to the writing of the game that it makes you just as exhausted and fed up with everything as the characters.

>>that dream that features incredible, complex architecture and/or many rooms to explore
I've had this at least once, but I was being chased by magic cultists and it was a thunderstorm. It was all pretty weird.

Pony island gets really unsettling at parts but it isn't a straight up horror game.

exploding head syndrome

I've had a couple of waifu/lost love type dreams, and while I always feel sick and lonely it still doesn't compare to the time I dreamt that my parents couldn't recognize me, or anyone else for that matter.

In my dreams, people close to me keep dying in terrible ways with me being powerless to stop it and then I spend the rest of the time having a nervous breakdown
Oh, and my teeth keep falling out

does anyone else have mall dreams? For some reason a lot of my dreams end up in a giant shopping mall which I never leave once I get there, if not a mall it's usually either a museum, airport/train station, hotel/college or just a city vaguely like my hometown but bigger and with many differences

Well considering I'm still here ("I" being that I am the one in control of my actions and thoughts) even after all these cells have been replaced must count for something

How did you find Yea Forums?

>can’t call a fag a fag whose calling a fag a fag while being called a fag to the fags who are also fags

Are you still here? Or do you just believe that you are.

This shit fucking terrifies me. Sometimes I have to force myself to stop thinking about it so I can calm down.

i used to have mall dreams back in the earl 2000s where it was always humungous and seemingly neverending and tons of vents and backrooms to climb through

CEASE THIS FAGGORTRY IT'S GETTING META-GAY

Don't be too alarmed user if you have a particularly strange dream tonight. See you around..

The story's okayish, the main issue with the game is that while it's visually nice the stealth is clunky and the overall gameplay is repetitive

Don't be too alarmed if you have a particularly strange dream tonight. See you around..

>Dream about being in a car driven through water or on a field

>dream about either travelling to or from a place you really want to go to irl but never actually dreaming about the place

Dude I get the teeth one all the time, what’s up with that (or I grind them down or they are utterly destroyed in some way.)

Dreams are so fucking crazy
Last night I had a dream that "Bud Light Corporation" bought Super Smash Bros from Nintendo just so they could leak the rest of the DLC roster, one of which was "Ridley 2" which was literally just Ridley with no arms or wings.
What purpose could my brain displaying that jumbled mess of nonsense to me possible serve?

Must've been up to 5 years now. I moved away for work and we just stopped even trying to talk. Never managed to recover that sense of belonging that I had when talking to her.

youtube.com/watch?v=rAFyGL_eUKg

Eh, I dated my “dream girl” who I had a crush on for years and in the end she turned out to be a gigantic cunt and by far the worst person I have ever been romantically involved with.

In the end people always end up completely different to your expectations when you actually date them. The fact that you never got to date her IRL means you’re still stuck with your mental protection of her as the perfect girl but I guarantee you that in real life she’s not all that great. Because women are human beings not perfect angelic beings.

Dead loved one dreams and teeth dreams are both associated with repressed anxiety

That implies that you'd be aware that you're different. Think of the teleporter example again. After teleporting, you'd have all the same memories, same looks, everything would be a 100% equal. Except for the fact that your body was obliterated seconds before.

We're cunming in you tonight. OwO

>Dreams can get fucking weird.
I write a lot of stories and I've been robbed of weird dreams.

I dream in complete narratives with a clear beginning, middle, and end.

It's cool but also sucks.

Why do you assume that dreams have purpose? It’s just synapses in your brain randomly firing off while you sleep. Most of the time dreams are incomprehensible garbage.

Did someone say Pressure?

Attached: Pressure.png (1599x1181, 1.96M)

I sometimes need a running start to be able to fly
Jumping off a building also works
Sometimes I can't fly, but I can do this thing where I just sort of lean forward and slide along the ground, sorta like I'm on rollerskates but with more control.
I have this one too
>get in the car
>somehow start the car
>somehow manage to drive onto the highway
>suddenly realize I was in the backseat the whole time
>have to try and reach around the front seat to grab the wheel
>worry about how to hit the brake pedal without realizing how the car is even moving if there's nothing on the gas pedal

Confirming this is a legit answer. RoR is great at making things unsettling and weird.

youtube.com/watch?v=D5tUHdUgAcI

Gotta fuck off to work soon but wasn't there some kind of "Urbex" game where you explore old abandoned buildings and stuff?

Maybe that, but something else is subtly fucking with you the whole time, but never really reveals itself.

Like a door being open/closed when you left it the other way, or the sound of it moving.

There's a game called Beware. Terrible name but it somewhat captures that. I've seen some other demos but I don't think they've actually been made into full games.

This is pretty much what happened in Earthbound Zero when Queen Mary teaches Ninten how to sing.

holy shit this

All the Suda games before NMH feel like a David Lynch movie

like p diddy in that one shit vodka commercial

>that dream that features incredible, complex architecture and/or many rooms to explore
I've had this, but I always was filled with a sense of dread, less a dream and more a nightmare. Never find out why, but one of times it happened I also felt a heavy pressure on my back that stayed when I woke up. Made it hard to breathe, and then it started spinning. Only stopped when I reached back and tried to hit whatever was there(which took a lot of effort because I was still half asleep and couldn't really move any of my body well), though obviously nothing was there and I was just waking up. Even so. I swear I rose a little out of being pressed into my bed, and I could move fine immediately after. Never had an experience like that before and never have again. Is that what you call a night terror?

>Dont know how to drive irl
>Have dreams about driving a car, not being able to control it very well, hitting people, destroying things, ruining traffic (usually driving on the wrong side of the road or bumping into cars) and constantly scared that the police are gonna get me

I hate these dreams and they make me not want to learn how to drive

What happened to this type of horror? Stuff like Tetsuo: The Iron Man, old horror occult OVAs. Not sure if people just turned soulless or if it's hard to get it into the media now a days.

Attached: 1372519476345.jpg (500x379, 52K)

Maybe my brain is defective or something because it's the opposite for me. A monster with no explanation or understanding just does not bother me at all. It's just a hostile entity. If there's mention of what it is, and more important what it does to you, then it has a chance of bothering me.

>tfw every time i've clipped OOB irl i've voided out
i get worried every time ill end up in the backrooms but it hasnt happened yet

Different user but he says they'd be different. An example I can think of is the movie Annihilation.

Yeah man, some episodes had me laughing to the point of pain, some had me totally terrified. The pilot with the chicken and the one with the slab especially.

Don't Watch the 1999 version of House on Haunted Hill. Head-shakers everywhere.

Medium budget things died. It's either 0 dollar indieshit (can't afford to do anything fancy) or AAAAAAA blockbusters (can't take risks).

Maybe it's your subconscious getting you not the pee in them so you don't piss your bed.

Part of the horror might come from the fact that it's not a monster nor necessarily violent. Cosmic horror for example is usually stuff that's on a different plane of existence, which they wouldn't even be aware of us anymore than we're aware of the air molecules around us.

The danger of ΔP is way, way more scary that any monster fish.

Except David Lynch is a hack and Suda games are actually good.

This reminds me of the Mystery Zone in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.
If you used a walk-through-walls cheat or a glitch like tweaking and left the map, due to the Underground needing everything on the overworld to be on one continuous map, you'd enter this huge expanse of grass or trees that the game called the "Mystery Zone"
The music there was this slightly off version of one of the route themes, with some of the instruments missing/different and some other minor changes, probably a beta version of the track.
youtube.com/watch?v=MwYYfjaspM8
It had the exact same vibe of "you accidentally left reality and ended up in a not fully formed outside-reality"

There was some legit terrifying stuff in it. Fucking Fred was the worst for me. There were so many implication in so many episodes for all sort of fucked up themes, all this in a children's show.

Try to create my own little autonomous universe inside of my head, Abandoning my sense of self and just observe the constructs of my own mind play itself out.

I would buff my class and nerf the rest of them.

I actually thought Fred was awkwardly charming. Like, he didn't want to actually hurt anyone, he was just a weirdo that liked shaving things bald. Like some kind of OCD barber.

Reminds me of the amala labyrinth in nocturne

Barotrauma's like if Pressure got made by the kinds of people who like Space Station 13 stories involving clowns sucking everyone into black holes.

God I remember that, shit was weird. I seem to recall that there were a lot of somewhat offputting glitches in the pokemon series.

I guess I'm just more naturally afraid of "kindness" that I don't understand than hatred I don't understand.
Plus IIRC the implication was that Fred was a pedo.

I sometimes have a nightmare where i'm laying in my bed while someone in the next room is screaming in pain and there is sounds like a cooked chicken being pulled apart, i don't know who the victim is but i know who is doing it.

The scary part is when the screaming and the tearing stops and i know whatever it is is just behind the door waiting for me to close my eyes.

What a disappointment

Creepier than Lavender Town by far.

gotta love those safety videos. my personal biggest work-related fear is unknowingly entering a low O2 environment, especially if some other gas has displaced the O2. There ain't gonna be no coughing, or suffocating. One breath, you pass right the fuck out and die minutes later.

the best part being that as the gases are all invisible, your buddies are just going to think you passed out and go in to help you, so you'll probably take a few of them out as well

Kind of sounds like a more bitter version of brave little toaster.

I saw a similar thinkpiece somewhere about how it was about molestation, and I guess I can kind of see it, but it never really clicked for me. It seemed more of a general "mental illness left unattended" sort of thing, where it starts as a small problem (the hamster or whatever), shows signs in childhood (his love the girl), impacts adult life/work (the southerner with the beard), and so on.

I have a million dollar idea for a children's story book.

I have regular nightmares about being trapped in highschool as an adults because I'm too stupid to graduate.

Their eyes probably inflated like balloons because of the extreme drop in pressure when they were removed from their habitats.

I have this exact same thing.

How does that even happen?

Probably but it could also be their eyes being naturally larger to better capture the little light that might exist in the depths.

oh yeah, there's all sorts of gas monitors available nowadays, it's pretty easy to mitigate the risk for yourself and your crew.

but even with that, MSHA and OSHA put out alerts about fatalities that involve being overcome by gases. the key part being knowing that the hazard could exist in the first place

Let me tell you this user, lucid dreaming all the time is NOT fun. You can stretch out time (almost) infinitely and live out a perfect life with superpowers, but when you wake up you'll be aware you're being ripped away from that paradise and remember it every single day and every time you wake up.

I do not recognize the bodies in the water.

Attached: You do recognize the bodies in the water.png (1668x1068, 1.5M)

Can confirm, I work as an EMT and transport a lot of these people to the hospital and back. So many patients get muscle contractures and bed sored because the staff doesn't move and exercise the patients every 2 hours like they are supposed to, not to mention the constant UTIs. The UTIs and bed sores end up leading to sepsis and then we have to rush them to the ER.
I remember one time I took one to a doctor's appointment and they told the poor lady that if she didn't drink more water she'd have to go on dialysis. When we dropped her back off at the nursing home I reminded her to drink more water. She told me that she used to, but the lazy staff didn't change her fucking foley bag, so her urine would back up through the catheter into her urinary tract and she'd get UTIs and even went septic once or twice.
When I told the charge nurse about this and what the doctor told her at the appointment, she started acting offended like I called her out and dismissed me, even though I was very polite and talking to her in private. There are a few good eggs, but most of the staff at nursing homes don't give a shit about the patients.
A horror game about being a patient at a nursing home would be pretty based, though, but honestly would be more od an exposé than anything.
