There is no funner thing to me than creating giant wrecks in Nascar Racing 2003.

I'm emulating Burnout 3 and Revenge, great games. EA should have remastered these instead of Paradise.

I was playing NFS Underground 2 but I need a new burn of the game because it chokes trying to load the world.

Racing games peaked at GT4

Attached: breathing.jpg (1920x1080, 831K)

Why isn't this game selling millions??? It's the best arcade racer this generation

Initial D 8 is the only racing game for me.
Until the arcade near me gets cabs for Infinity

Need for Speed is a weird fucking series. First it was a full-on sim, then it went full-on arcade, and now it's a strange combination of the two.

Mario Kart 8 is great though best one since 64.

The only two good ones since most wanted are the criterion ones since they were essentially burnout.

This isn't a playpen, toddler. Leave

You heard the Burnout poster. Get the fuck out.

BRING IT BACK NINTENDO

FFFFFFFFUCK this game.

But that's a good thing. Racing games are like sports games, we already have enough of the same, there's no need for new ones. It's death is welcome.

Rude as fuck, there’s nothing wrong with liking Mario Kart. I like Burnout anyway 2,3, Revenge and Dominator.

Nascar cars actually drive counterclockwise, meaning that they turn left, not right.

We have barely any at all right now, well good ones anyway.

Dominator is really underrated, it’s got 4 player splitscreen too I think

I've been looking for the name of this game for over ten years (Rollcage). I am grateful to you. I played this with another person my age in the house where my mom worked.

At that time I didn't have a computer, so I enjoyed every game I had the opportunity to play. In that house and with that person I played The Chronicles of Lara Croft, Crazy Taxi and watched him play Star Craft and Age of Mythology II.

I also played one about small cars that could be seen from above. One of the levels was a jungle, I think Mesoamerican.

It's important to share that fragment of my life with you, now that the cycle is complete because of you. Thanks again.

Current ones, nothing said is current, I’ve player most of the old shit

I feel like I'm playing Ridge Racer V wrong. Why do I only have one car? How do I unlock the other normal cars?

Racing games are kinda fucked desu. In the endless chase after realistic graphics, devs have turned arcade racers into racing sims lite.
Arcade racers were always different from any other game: they were bright, cheerful and focused on pure fun and nothing but FUN. And they were all distinct. Virtua Racing, Daytona USA, Out Run, Crazy Taxi, Burnout - you could never mistake one game for the other. Devs weren't trying to please the realism-obsessed nerds or dudebros, and no one even cared about multiplayer.
I feel like this magic is gone nowadays, mostly because SEGA doesn't care anymore.

Attached: d1w2z0tgdx1z.jpg (1920x1080, 125K)

Favorite racing game has got to be Fatal Inertia. Shit was so unique and the last races in the series had you flying at ludicrous speeds.

Wish it came to PC, nothing else comes close

I’m surprised indie developers aren’t doing more with it

Anyone remember this racing game for the ps2 where you had to do corkscrews with your car in the air? Also this other one for the n64, it was pretty good. You had this secret n64 logo car tv r you could unlock, and a driving hotdog or something.

Sounds like rush

That reminds me of Mashed. Super fun game.

Is twisted metal a racing game?

Do you want me to actually prove you wrong, or do you just want attention?

Attached: akarin.png (256x256, 114K)

I bought it on ps4 for 10 bucks. It's ok and it has an interesting car park. I definetly wouldn't pay full price for it

youtube.com/watch?v=GVApezbiN18
Just lately I realized that MC2 featured basically every car guy parody in the book, from the rich parents boyracer to weebs

Arcade racing games are defined by the time limit. Even if you don't have any opponents, you always race against the timer. Does Twisted Metal have that?

Thanks user, this game was great. Awesome tracks, great shortcuts. Played this so much at my friends place.

No, it’s a pure car combat game. Good games but not racing. That being said might as well discuss them here since nobody else probably will.

This game needs VR

It really is a strange one. It's enjoyable but something about it just didn't give me the same feeling as the original games did.

Excluding TDR 2000 of course because that one is just a mess.

Am I the only person that played this?

How about Redout?

Arcade racing games are the worst.

Maybe, just like how I'm the only one that played this

Attached: 220px-New_York_Race.jpg (220x315, 30K)

This is the only racing game where I can actually believe you're driving at over mach 1. "Supersonic" in Wipeout feels like 300kph.

Why?

Looks like one those bargain bin gems

I had it, the soundtrack was great.

This game was my fucking jam, user. Post more webms of that shit.
Redout is more of it's own thing, but it's also a really solid title. Love its distinct artstyle and track design.

Anyone play fast racing neo or fast rmx? Only on switch but it’s the closest to a new f zero. Feels like a mix of f zero and ikaruga

Games like Burnout are tons of fun. Hover car racing games are almost universally boring though.

They all play the same and you can just play gta, saints row, etc... to get the same experience but have other stuff to do when that gets boring.

Every thread like this I always post N.GEN and every time people ignore it. It's a shame because it's a really good game.

>flight stick capability
>38 planes hat you could modify
>Gran Turismo Cr system
>14 tracks that had day/night

They really don't.

I feel sorry for mutts who got a scuffed version of GT3 with all the good music swapped out.

Yes, because not all racing sims have... drifting?
What the hell are you even talking about?

You can actually learn some real world techniques from GT

No but if I wanted to be I'd have a head start

Your analogy might have worked if you used Arma instead.

youtube.com/watch?v=IZEY7G94AW8

No you fucking won't. You can't learn shit if you don't even feel the weight of the car around you, and you're playing these games with a fucking gamepad.
>Your analogy might have worked if you used Arma instead.
So, do you think you can become a sharpshooter by playing Arma?

Are the nascar games actually good? I’d be interested in trying them but I don’t want to feel like a filthy redneck

so go start your career if you're so great
a videogame will never be an accurate representation of the real deal you cretin

Attached: 1541208435737.png (229x286, 127K)

Because it's a shitty version of Distance.

Not by playing it alone but it will help. They're called sim games for a reason.

Ever heard of F355 challenge passione rossa? A pro racer got a cabinet to help him practice it was so accurate at the time

giantbomb.com/f355-challenge-passione-rossa/3030-285/

>military etc... don't use simulators for training purposes
Is this zoomer education?

Race car drivers actually practice in racing sims, and people who start in sims often work their way into real racing. Driving with wheels and pedals in a game is closer to driving a real car than pressing buttons on a gamepad is to shooting a real rifle. I have personally applied lots of the techniques I learned in sims to help me go faster at track days and autocross. Don't post a smug anime girl if you're going to make an intellectually dishonest argument.

Attached: 1547163066714.png (726x611, 450K)

I think this was called Gadget Racers in America. Weird fucking Japanese racing game but had an amazing intro

youtube.com/watch?v=-s3eMjtUWKQ

Attached: 1547256140023.jpg (225x320, 17K)

And the simfags are here to ruin another rare racing game thread. See you Chads that actually like fun next time

F355 was fucking beautiful.

Attached: reviewf355challengedc-1[1].jpg (400x300, 37K)

>It was considered the most accurate simulation of the Ferrari F355 possible up until that time; its focus on realism was considered unusual for an arcade game at the time. The realism was further heightened by the sit-in cabinet, with a simulated Ferrari dashboard, force feedback, and three screens increasing the field of vision.
It's almost like having something like that is different from playing with a gamepad on your fucking couch.

Attached: 1319398941712.jpg (407x286, 12K)

Tough as nails but it’s one of the best sims ever made

YOU'RE POSTING WITHOUT A CAUSE CHICO. YOU'RE ABOUT TO BECOME B&'D

There’s fun to sims too you know, you don’t have to autistically modify your cars anyway in all but the most hardcore ones

I always got that game confused with Road Trip because they were really similar in game aesthetics.

Attached: Road Trip.jpg (500x500, 81K)

Which is why the diehard racing fans will get those crazy setups with the steering wheels, peddles, and shit.

No

Well still, it is a game, not actually racing a car and it was ported to dreamcast too.

>Driving with wheels and pedals in a game is closer to driving a real car than pressing buttons on a gamepad is to shooting a real rifle.
Except a precious few people actually own a wheel with pedals. Most play with gamepads or keyboards and pretend like they are learning anything from that.

My fucking nigga!

Sadly no, the animations are really bad, the game is short as hell, there’s no soundtrack unless you use spotify, no splitscreen and the game is buggy as hell, i once spawned and immediately died to a car I spawned on

No, just play Burnout 3. Everything DD does is a poor, shoddy imitation of what Burnout 3 did much better 15 years before.

Attached: b3unlock.png (1920x1080, 1.98M)

Going from nothing to something is still learning, user.

If I wanted to buy a wheel and pedals what are some good ones to look at? Not looking to be a simtard at all I just want to emulate the Initial D arcade games

Hell go play burnout dominator, a lot of people skipped it thinking it was a handheld spinoff.

Source for unstretched 16:9? 2D never scaled like that.

look up Aero_
his b3 patch is hosted on thirteenag's page

Trackmania Turbo is the most fun I've had with a racing game since Burnout 2. Holy shit. But this webm looks way faster than anything I'm used to from that game, it goes from zero to six hundred without any boost pads or anything.

Ok.
youtu.be/m2CqhdVj7Ic

Attached: Race_Driver_Grid_Dodge_Viper_Cover_Art_Wallpaper1.jpg (1920x1080, 662K)

How the fuck does that invalidate his point that you can learn real world techniques from sims? Even if you don't use a wheel, you still need to know things like
>weight transfer
>throttle control
>racing lines
>counter steering
>trail braking
>fuel management
>tire management
>how elevation/camber/radius changes effect cornering
>etc
Does it emulate well on PC? Already played enough Burnout Paradise.

Super pissed off. I wanted to get this on GOG, but it was removed before I found it. Only have it on disc.
Great game. One of the best racing games I've played. Drift mode was amazing. Also awesome that there was an arcade machine version too.

Hell yeah. Outrun 2006 is one of my favorites.

Comfy.

Same applies to burnout

Double dash was gimmick bullshit

Actually, you're both wrong. MKDS was the best one.

I posted pgr earlier but got no responses

I'm surprised they didn't add the Dual Dash mode to 8 deluxe. I'd love to do that co-op karting again, it was dumb as fuck.

Stop stretching the game to widescreen.

Found it, this site is familiar

I have played 2 and 4
Currently playing 4 and failing to control the Sledgehammer in manual

BNG is great, and it has a huge modding community and the dev pushes a major update like once a week. Feels like a passion project.

OutRun 2006 is the definitive OutRun game
>has both OutRun 2 and SP content included on top of other modes
>still looks great
>has THREE renditions of the classic OutRun music, including the original 1989 arcade versions
>a lot of great cars to choose from
Only the interface is being stretched. The game itself supports 1080p just fine.

1 is my personal favorite but all 4 games are good

It feels a lot like Carma 1/2 which I appreciate but didn't really go well for the casual audience who never played earlier games

How did this game manage to have better engine sounds than modern Need for Speeds like Payback?

That's what I said, only the interface is stretched, the 3D graphics upscale just fine. Here's a comparison between a stretched 4:3 and normal 16:9 to drive the point home.
The interface alone is not worth the black bars on a 16:9 monitor.

TrackMania is amazing but fuck not being able to collide with other cars

Attached: burnout 3 60fps.webm (640x360, 2.86M)

Fuck yeah. I remember one of the MM on the Mega Drive had 2 controller slots in the cartridge too so you could play 4 player.

What was Konami thinking here? Out of the blue they decide to make a racing game and made it a hardcore simulation (well above anything else on console at the time) that was designed to be played with a wheel and wheel only, spent a fortune on licenses and years of development only to release it at the same time as Gran Turismo 4 and have it bomb and be forgotten instantly.

It doesn't have nearly as many cars and tracks as its competitor, but it looks, sounds and simulates a real car better.

i thought that as well until i realized that trackmania is just a time attack game and not as much of racing, so i took the time to chase all the good maps and play it for that reason alone

i usually even turn off other players because i don't have enough autism or patience to shove a few milliseconds out of my already fast enough laps by finding the pixel perfect line

They use them for flight simulators and shit where it is less expensive than having the pilots operate Jet Fighters, not regular ol infantry.
Infantry they train by either being out in the field, or for urban warfare by building cheap training buildings.
The military doesn't use fucking ARMA to train their soldiers you dipshit.

Adding to the "nobody else played this" pile. I played this game for hours. Sometimes the music gets stuck in my head randomly.

Attached: 1448217253267.jpg (360x345, 32K)

Wrong. Unlike you I was actually in the army and we used these very video gamey simulators for training. Only difference is that the controller was an actual m16 modified to act as a controller.

I played it, this game had the weirdest fucking soundtrack with bizarre lyrics too.

This one sounds like a weird techno mumble rap remix of Dragula
m.youtube.com/watch?
v=q6Pin68hVcw

This one sounds almost like weird grunge
m.youtube.com/watch?v=XueSrJOFHks

This one is the funniest, it’s a weird techno showtune song about destroying a city while giant towers of stone oppress you
m.youtube.com/watch?v=WQuYbz-EcOc

The whole game really is fucking weird but the soundtrack pushes it into the what were they on category.

It's the Night Owl one that gets stuck in my head. I really don't know why.

And yeah you're definitely not wrong. Was still fun though. What was really weird is that I went back and played it recently and it was exactly how I remebered it, which was a weird feeling. I still had fun though, it's good to kill like an hour or two.

maybe like 2-3 bad/annoying songs, rest are all good or great

Project Gotham Racing 2, for the Original Xbox.

The correct answer is FlatOut 2.

If only there was a way to get that soundtrack into Ultimate Carnage

decent

Objectively it's probably Burnout 3 unless you're a patrician, then it's Gran Turismo 3.

The PGR games I've played (3 and 4) are good but also frustrating. I always get irked by racing games that try to have you drive stylishly but precisely.

You get kudos for driving stylishly (and in some events its mandatory to earn them) but you could also be racing against the clock and that combination of things usually leads to frantic play where you drift needlessly and slam into walls...

Is FH4 story mode full of soul like the first game?

Fuck no. FH3, FH4, and The Crew 2 are literally about being a social media #hypebeast. Total zoomer trash.

FH3 actually feels like a big tournament, though.

FH4 is just a fluffy "giant party" sort of thing. Really gets under my skin.

They’re fun games, well FH3 and 4 but not cars 2. Anyway make sure to pump up the difficulty, they’re easy by default

Attached: 52916402.jpg (1754x1239, 1.2M)

How do you feel about the recent censorship of music tracks?

Wipeout Omega

Forza Horizon 2,3,4

Is that really it for good racing games this gen?

Is The Crew (1) soulful like FH1? I think I saw the definitive edition in my local vidya shop.

4 doesn’t have any at all

BallisticNG and GRIP if we're talking arcade only, tons of great sims/simcades out though.

3 is a scaled down Highpoly remake of 2.
4 put the content back but made the physics fuck-you levels of accurate to where going fast just makes one nervous.
2 is the best title

Wipeout, hard to pick between 2097 and 3 both are fantastic. Fuck that cringy "alt rock" hot topic core shit desu

What is the best gran turismo and why is it gran turismo sport

I've been playing OutRun 2 on the Xbox, The missions have been helping me get better, i love running through the locales in this game

I appreciate the focus on quality over quantity for cars, and the multiplayer is very good. I do wish the single player content was better though. I also don't like how limited the tuning and visual modifications are.

BallisticNG is the most criminally overlooked arcade racer ever made, holy shit its fuckin good

horizon 4

There have been zero (0) good racing games since consoles moved to HDMI standard, prove me wrong.

If Gran Turismo Sport is the first half of Gran Turismo 7 we're going somewhere. I'm expecting it to be a PS4 only title released 30 minutes before the PS5 drops
I will play it to death

Its fun but doesnt feel quite as good to me, Rollcage physics were brutal, bad line over a bump could send you into a nasty crash and it was awesome. GRIP in comparison feels like the cars are glued to the track, its not bad but not as exciting to play.

honestly it's the best game i've played since underground 2. different, but still amazing.

I appreciate their commitment to regular updates with free cars and tracks, it pretty much secures that the game won't be hit with a dlc car removal when it reaches end of life, hell I can still pop my GT6 in, let it update for like 5 whole hours and all the cars they added after the game came out will still be there.
I just hope GT7 is a return to true form.

I was just playing Redout on the Switch. Getting the hang of it. Being good at drifting is a requirement. The motion blur is headache inducing though.
