Just learn to deflect his lance user.
You're too weak to punch through drywall, come on now.
You can do it, user.
Stop hesitating and shove your sword up his butthole.
If you have played the game all the way to the Sword Saint and you can't fucking beat him idk how you did the rest. It's also one of the most fun/fair fights if you don't suck dick. Very rarely does he do anything that will outright kill you, you have time to recover and heal.
Demon of Hated was harder just by the virtue of him having a few attacks that will absolutely fucking destroy you.
You got me there.
He's not that hard. When he gets his lance out just keep your distance, let him finish his combos and wait for the thrust to mikiri it. Reverse lightning the 3rd phase.
Fighting him on the roof is harder.
>he hesitated
get bent faggot
Attack him twice, then get ready to deflect maybe twice. After that, it depends on what he's gonna do. So either mikiri, jump, or deflect. Then attack again. If he sheathes his sword, wait till it flashes then deflect twice. If you attack him three times in a row, he'll deflect and punish you. He's ezpz once you know how.
You make it sound so easy.
Isshin isn't even that hard. It's all in your head user. If you could get past Genichiro, everyone else is easy cake
It is once you see the pattern. Just try it, attack twice, then deflect. Don't even have to sprint to him. Just powerwalk that motherfucker.
It is quite easy once you get down the patterns. If you're getting tired of trying, sleep on it and come back tomorrow.
Once you finish the game, give new game+ a try, and watch yourself obliterate most bosses.
Literally how, I beat him in less than 10 tries
First phase
>normal attacks that are slow and easy to deflect
>the long ranged wind attack that is very easy to dodge
>the double ichimonji that is easy to dodge
>the one move he spams where he seathes his sword that can be cancelled by getting close and always causes a sweep for easy posture damage
>the thrust attack that always happens in the middle of a combo so you just need to mikiri it if a perilious attack happens in a combo
Second phase
>I don't even fucking know the patterns, I only fought it 3 times, just fight defensively blocking until you are sure his combo is overand jump-kick him when he does his 360 attack to dodge it
Third Phase
>lighting reversal wins you the fight in no time at all
Owl(Father) and Guardian Ape were way worse
I almost gave up, then I didnt and finally beat this fuck.
You can do it man.
The game is literally about being an undying shinobi, what the fuck do you think you'd do after fighting the same master swordsman a few times ?
>If you could get past Genichiro, everyone else is easy cake
I loved fighting this bitchass mother fucker again, I dumpstered his ass only to watch the Sword Saint climb the fuck out of his shoulder..
I never learned to parry in the game so for me he was still extremely hard
You just have to git gud on phase 1 no shit about it. When he does ashina cross charge attack back away and shadowrush/shadowfall him rinse and repeat.
For phase 2&3 literally all you have to do is sprint the entire time away from him and wait for him to do the air jump foward spear slam attack once he lands hit him 2-3 times then repeat the sprinting and only attack after the ground spear slam attack...sure it will take about 30 minutes but it was the easily method I found to beat him.
??????????????
what the fuck ????
I gave up and used the demon bell. After that I've beaten him easily.
Doesn't that make the game harder though ?...
No, it's harder when you're carrying it. When you use Demon Bell you're basically discarding it.
I think your mother should have stopped halfway through your birth.
so you chose to take the more difficult route which is introduced in the beginning of the game ?
aight..
No, Sword Saint is still hardest in the game by far.
Demon has TWO prosthetics made just for him, one that you can use to completely shut down his third phase, one you can use to block ANY attack he uses.
Sword Saint is not cheesable in any way. There are things you can do to control his AI but you need to be good at the game to do it.
>I never learned to parry
>in a combat system that literally revolves around parrying
I think that other user may be retarded.
How the fuck did you beat genichiro without knowing how to parry
He's not so bad once you learn to manipulate his A.I. Deflect his Ichimonji and then dodge his Dragon Flash. Get real close when he prepares his Ashina Cross then deflect and punish his sweep. In his second form bait out his jump swings and mikiri when he does the stab as his combo finisher. Lightning reversal him for his third phase.
Actually go to sleep user. Every single boss I had trouble with, I beat in around 3 tries at the most after a good nights sleep.
Genichiro is beatable with mashing parry.
Actually timing it perfectly isn't crucial until you hit Charmless.
>Sword Saint is not cheesable in any way.
See
For phase 2&3 if you do the sprinting away and only attack after the spear slam you can actually get through both phases without taking any damage.
The fuck are you on about? The game without demon bell is piss easy. I only have a challenge on NG+ without Kuro's Charm and with Demon Bell.
Only bad boss fights in this game were the ones where you were trapped in a small, cramped room against a fast enemy and the camera went berserk
Im having problems with Owl in the roof ng3, any tips?
Yeah except the amount of posture damage you can do by deflecting his long combo is fucking insane. Only fucking scrubs wouldn't learn how to use the most powerful tool in the game.
I didn't have the flame shield and I didn't care to upgrade for it, so I just got out of the way like a normal person. What the hell other prosthetic was useful ?
upgrade your umbrella bro
I think the retard is talking about the mini bell you ring to nullify the effects of the proper gigantic demon bell.
boss fights based heavily around vitality were shit
posture based ones were the best
I'm not really sure how much harder he is on ng3, but he will be throwing the debuff bomb at you as long as you are not debuffed already. Every time he tries to debuff you run in his face for free hits.
user you should legit quit. Games should be fun not tedious. Ignore the anons ITT they ALWAYS blow their abilities out of proportion and probably autismed their way through the shit the same way you would have to but you're not gonna do that because you're better than them you're gonna choose to actually enjoy your game time and play something better. Minecraft got a new ocean update, try that.
Why the FUCK would anyone want to do that? It's so fucking tedious.
>that giraffe centipede whatever the FUCK
>tiny fucking room
>only attack consists of a 90 hit combo that spans the length of the room
what in the fuck ?
I mean it's not a hard fight once you realize you can just parry every fucking attack in a row and deathblow the cocksucker but wow that initial entrance and first attacks were fucking retarded.
Yeah, guess my dark soul/BB habits never died cause most of my fights were dodge and hit fights. When I parried it was only by accident, would you believe I never mikiri'd either?
>what in the fuck ?
You said it yourself, he's easy. The game tries to make sure you learnt to deflect properly multiple times.
Yeah the item in your inventory is called "Demon Bell". It's the spirit-like thing that makes the game harder when you're carrying it. When you use it, you're dispelling the additional difficulty. I didn't think I need to explain it here, to people who played the game.
Still beat the game so I really dont give a rat's ass
>would you believe I never mikiri'd either?
This is awful. You are making the game way too hard for yourself. Did you at least realize holding block recovers posture?
He's not that hard, most of his attacks are slashes that can be dodged and overhead jumps and bows which also can be dodged. Where I never learned to parry, my dodge game improved
Bell Demon, according to the wiki.
Applies 'Sinister Burden' and places Bell Demon in your inventory. This item can be used to remove the effect, and reapplied at the bell.
The bell itself is the Demon Bell, you ring to take on the "Sinister Burden" effect and make the game harder. You use the Bell Demon item in your inventory to remove the status and return the game to normal.
yeah its just the whole 'tiny room with completely new enemy" is jarring as fuck
also I think he's relatively early so I was more bad at the game.. lol
Exactly.
>there are people who still haven't beaten this game already
BIG YIKES
Honestly I still had a blast playing. I just realized that if I couldnt get my parry time down then I would work on my dodge, sidesteps, and punishing openings. The only boss I never beat on my 1st run of the game was Owl 2
Malcontent stuns him like the music box with Father Gascoigne. You can use it three times.
You're just ignoring game mechanics though. Imagine if you played DS and didn't bother to learn about the ESTUS FLASK or fucking strong attacks or something.
The whole 'standing fast with your guard up' is not only part of the game but part of Japanese sword fighting. You stand with your feet planted and your weapon ready, it focuses you and allows you to regain your 'posture' or balance.
How obvious was it that it could work on him ? Honestly I don't think I even read the upgrade text for the whistle prosthetic.. I was like "a fucking whistle ? get the fuck outta here"
Look out people, master swordsman in the thread
It's the signature move of his dead girlfriend and it says it works against all "apparitions".
yeah bro better be careful, explaining the stupidity of ignoring such strong mechanics in a game about fucking SWORD FIGHTS, ignoring the entire theme of the game you're playing.
Oh FUCK now I remember, the Sculptor talking about his old training buddy, yes. I still ignored the whistle though, idk it just seemed like a fuckin lame 'weapon'
your playstyle has a major effect on which bosses will fuck you up.
For whatever reason, I beat lady butterfly on my second try, but the corrupted monk gave me the most challenge, everyone else was maybe 5 tries. Some people who took 20 tried with lady butterfly call me a scrub for not finding the corrupted monk easy. The game is just different for everyone.
in Bloodborne I beat the blood-starved beast on my first try and never thought it was supposed to be a real challenge, it was after I beat him did I find out he got meme'd into the "undefeatable scrub filter" role which made no sense to me.
well that's because it's a 'tool'
Guns are tools too, doesn't mean it's not also a weapon. If you can use something to gain an advantage in a fight to the death it could probably be called a "weapon"
I understand that, but honestly I kept dying trying to parry correctly in this game, so when that didn't work, I tried another way to play and it worked. Yeah I'm sure I could of killed a few bosses much quicker, but like I said I still had fun which is all that matters at the end.
Same, Beat Butterfly on my 3rd try with no snaps, Corrupted Monk pushed my shit in so hard that I had to gear up tooth and nail to take her. I'm talking snap seeds, fistful of ash, ako sugar, whole nine yards
are you a dummy. can you really not think of. a scenario where a whistle that only attracts one enemy can be useful.
throw a fucking shuriken at them you stupid faggot, available at the start of the game and it takes ONE spirit emblem
>I kept dying trying to parry correctly in this game
I don't understand how that's even possible, if you're blocking, all you need to do is tap the block button again per attack you want to parry. You don't have to frame perfect time your block to parry, you can do it ANY TIME during a block. You can miss a few parries and land a few, it's one of the best parts of any of the faster sword fights. You go back and forth with your enemy, both blocking and deflecting, attacking and dodging, wittle away at his posture so you can deathblow. This is 100% how the game was supposed to be played. The fact you didn't understand or ignored it means you fucking played the game wrong.
you just alerted everyone around that enemy then
nope, factually fucking wrong I've done it multiple times with people standing right next to eachother
the first Drunken fatguy bossfight were he has 10 fucking people around him, I used the Shuriken to get them away from eachother and they are standing within eyeshot/earshot
fuck you
