Why should I be excited for another port of an almost 20 year old game?

Because it is a good game!
As well as the fact that this time you don’t need 4 GBA link cables and 4 GBAs to play multiplayer. By the way, the switch version’s been confirmed for both couch co-op and online.

Nice, I'll probably try it.

When is the release date

if it's couch co-op on ps4 I'll even pre order it

It’ll likely be announced at E3 at Square’s panel there
couch co-op for both PS4 and switch has been confirmed

Totally excited !

EXPLAIN

>chiming of the main menu
>the 3 minute credits intro with Sound of the Wind playing
>the jaunty flute and xylophone on the world map
take me back, PLEASE

So how the hell will individual player menus work? That's the entire reason the game's gimmicks centered around 4 GBAs. Don't get me wrong, the idea that anyone can now pick up and play in a group, even online, without that bullshit is excellent, but those menus had to go somewhere.

I would be if they would fucking gives us any kind of news on it since it was first announced

Played it for a very limited time when I was younger but these musics are very efficient at creating nostalgia

Theres also the secret player objectives, I'm wondering what they did with those

>no PC release

>still have to force someone to carry the chalice
No thanks.

I’m assuming there’ll be some sort of transparent side menu you can use to select items/spells with the extra buttons the switch controller has over the GC one. There was a playthrough demo of the first level a few months ago as some japanese gaming convention but I couldn’t really see what was going on

get fucked pc cuck

I want a date!

I bet (ans hope) it will be ported to pc at some point just like every other square title like FFXV, Dissidia, the remasters of FFX and XII

replayed this a few weeks ago. its alright, pretty meh. music is the best part

lol just emulate it.
I thought PC was supposed to be master race?

>chiming of the main menu
That same chiming played when getting to the final boss absolute perfect.

>8 months and no release date
I fucking need it this E3. Also Who /Yuke/ here?

I haven't even opened the link and I already hear
>Dreaming on, the skies on high~
This game is a nostalgia factory.

YES!!
YES I AM!!!
I WAITED 14 YEARS FOR THIS!
I'M GLAD TO BE IN THIS TIMELINE SORRY GUYS I'M EXCITED AS FUCK

eagerly awaiting pricing and release info.

Hoping its at most $40, but knowing SE it could honestly be 50 or even 60. Would be rad as fuck if they show off more info at E3 and end with "Available now!".

did someone say /buckethead/ master race?

>remaster of a Square Enix game
So this is going to more butchered garbage developed by Chinese worker drones?

PS4 version will be 40 while switch is 60.

says who

the game’s been finished since they announced it, so they could pull off an immediate release at E3, would also explain no release date as of yet
holy fuck this truly is the best timeline, why did they even choose to remaster this PoS game that like 9 people played religiously??
did not even notice this until now, the OST of this game never fails to disappoint

Nintendo tax

I always knew it would happen, especially with SE going crazy with the rereleases lately. Am honestly most likely going to double dip to play with both of my friend groups

Honestly, I wouldn’t expect too steep of a price, £40 at most

english please

Nintendo knows that the Switch is the comfiest console, so they wanted to release the comfiest game on it

why was this soundtrack so fucking good, who composed it, what else have they done, is there anything that rivals this

it’ll be we lucky few that get to experience it I suppose, it really wasn’t that popular of a game
maybe all the re-releases of other FF games will reinvigorate an interest in this gem of a game

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kumi_Tanioka
There is plenty of other good musics in vidya but such a feeling may be unique

Kumi Tanioka composed it, she also helped with the soundtrack of FFXI but she did this entire game’s composition from scratch
nobup uematsu is the main composer for FF but for some reason he had nothing to do with FFCC which makes it even better somehow

I made this thread without even mentioning the soundtrack, which is without a doubt the best part of this game

Do yourself a favour and give it a listen, even if you don’t care much for the game. I hope they don’t remaster the soundtrack because it is quite literally perfect the way it was on Gamecube.

In the gloomy darkness is one of my favourite tracks ever, always get goosebumps.

someone posted this before and I thought it summed that track up really well
>This song scared the shit out of me as a kid but now I can’t stop listening to it. Probably my favourite VGM track of all time.
>If you haven’t played the game the song probably sounds pretty boring, and that’s fair. But throughout the game, the flute had been an instrument used in practically every track, it was a recurring instrument that everyone was familiar with. In a soundtrack with so many ancient and unfamiliar instruments the flute was the one that you could recognise and rely on.
>But the flute in this track’s absent, just a melancholic cello reverbating through a song with nothing but ambient drumming and plucking of strings.
>Then, subverting all expectations, the flute comes back and follows along with the cello, almost gossiping with the cello as if there’s a secret in the mineshaft that the player doesn’t know about. Adds so much to the atmosphere.
>And this is just one example of the techniques used in the BGM of this game to multiply the adventuring atmosphere by tenfold. This one just really stood out to me as it was the first song to legitimately spook me as a child/early teenager that I can remember.
the “gossiping with the cello” part stands out to me so clearly, that’s exactly how that track makes me feel
it’s like the flute has almost betrayed you in some weird way, it’d accompany you through every other track leading the beat but now it’s trying to spook you in an unfamiliar mineshaft
fucking hell I love this OST so much

>for some reason he had nothing to do with FFCC
That's due to the fact that FFCC is FF in name only, it was made by Akitoshi Kawazu instead of the usual FF dev teams, even the moogles look nothing like moogles.
It all comes from the fact that old man Yama literally begged Square to put a FF game on the Gamecube, but Square couldn't really give less of a shit at the time and had their hands full with development for the PS2, so Kawazu stepped in and listened to Yamaguchi's plea, which resulted into FFCC, it has his trademark all over, from the four different playable races to the chalice mechanics or the more melancholic and romantic story to it all.

I've never understood this argument. It would be a cold day in hell before I let anyone else touch the chalice.

Legit forgot this was a thing. Same with that Grandia collection.
Switch needs to hurry the fuck up

I think the chalice system worked well, especially since your attacks relied on everyone teaming up together and combining them
since enemies tended to spawn in groups anyway then the chaliceslave could easily drop it at any point and join in the fight

I agree with everything you say, its just a shame this soundtrack was wasted on one of the most boring and tedious maps

One of the few games I am looking forward to this year. I can't wait to play some multiplayer without the major pain in the ass of needing GBAs that are fully charged, since you can't charge them while playing and link cables. One of my favorite games.

Fuck this series, they make you love the Characters AND THEN THEY KILL THEM OFF! Or they were dead all along!

so its confirmed that there are no new levels but there are new areas within the levels. What do you think this means? just an extra room or two that has treasure? An entire second part of the map? optional bosses?

yall think we will get Ring/Echoes remasters if this does well? multiplayer was fun on those.

This is not the main Final Fantasy series, user. Give this one a shot, it’s nothing like the other ones.
I doubt they’ll expand the dungeons too much, after all it’s a “Remaster” and not a “Remake”. They’ll likely work on overhauling mechanics to work on a switch and upgrading the graphics.
Any Crystal Chronicles game after the first one sold like shit (and were rated awfully) so I highly doubt it

POST EM

boss, undead dragon, just the fact that you needed to coordinate casting holy to hurt it made the fight pretty fun and hectic
level, moschet manor, something about how you were in just in some large mansion made it comfy and very different from your typical fantasy environments

man fuck those haters ring of fates and echoes were great. the wii one was a bit ehhhh since it strayed so far from the core formula but it was alright.

they were OK, and thats stretching it. The wii/DS games were a CLEAR step down from the original CC. Large part of the charm was the (for the time) incredible graphics which made the environments fun to explore. the sequels looked like complete garbage and it was definitely part of their downfall
