Will Game of Thrones ever get a decent game?

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand a song of ice and fire. The foreshadowing is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of medieival politics most of the clues will go over a typical readers head. There's also Tyrion's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Tolkiens literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these clues, to realise that they're not just smart- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Game of Thrones truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Tyrion's existential catchphrase "Die at the age of 80," which itself is a cryptic reference to how the writer himself wants to die. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as George Rotund Retard Martin's genius wit unfolds itself on their cerebral cortex. What fools.. how I pity them.

The reason people like GoT is for the characters and the intrigue. I don't think the setting is ideal for the type of games that have wide appeal.
If you were playing to GoT's strengths, you'd make some kind of decision-based game and/or an adventure game, but Yea Forums normally doesn't like those much. For example, it might be cool if you played as the the Three-Eyed Raven and you had the ability to affect events at different points in the past, under circumstances where you could change outcomes instead of leading to ones that already exist.

The thing about game of thrones is that George RR doesn't give half a fuck about regular storytelling tropes for the sake of being unpredicatble and edgy- if a book character is vastly different from their show counterpart he can just end them for convenience to achieve the same ending.
