These are all equally bad, but Metroidvania is the one I hear the most.

The game has a really slow, and admittedly boring start. You get the Dash in Greenpath (the second area of the game), you get the Wall Jump in Fungal Wastes (third area) and after you get those two, the entire map is open to you. The double jump is gotten around the mid point.

Definitely agree that it's one of the dumbest terms. But then we have the problem of "it needs a snappier name than "2D platformer with action adventure elements" which leads back to "why not just call it a metroidvania people already understand what that means".
But hey, at least it's not a bad a definition as Roguelike-likes

Good. The experience system in SotN style Castlevanias always felt like a a pointless addition that made the games way too easy unless you intentionally avoid gaining levels. If you need an easy mode for combat Metroid already has health and missile upgrades that you can find through exploration rather than grinding.

RE4 isn't even the best RE game on GameCube.

How was this list calculated? I definitely do think OoT deserves its place at the top (it is the top game on Metacritic and second on GameRankings.com, while the top game on GameRankings.com, Super Mario Galaxy, is only 6th on Metacritic).

But Chrono Trigger? 28th on GameRankings.com, and not even in the top 200 on Metacritic (that's the DS version because Metacritic doesn't go back as far as SNES games).

So yeah, this list doesn't look great. I bet someone just made it up.

I love Blood and I played 20 hours this last week half of which was finding bugs or irregularities in the new paid port and passing it onto kaiser so he fixes his shit so the zoomers can enjoy it in all its glory, but Doom is just special and the community content carries it, you can play doom all day every day and not run out of wads to play
