The only upside of the mainline is its gameplay, but that's about it honestly. Regardless of story quality where XC2 has legs to stand, P5 handles the storytelling itself infinitely better. Every other chapter of XC2 made me want to vomit from embarrassment, the dialogue is atrocious. Never played a more tone deaf game, and I played FE Fates. Also P5's dungeons are on par with most other Megaten games, it treats itself like a dungeon crawler and benefits from it, succeeding where P3 and P4 failed. I vastly prefer tight, focused dungeons to sprawling directionless open worlds, but even in that category XC2 fails compared to 1 and especially X.

P6 could go two ways. Wada decides grab the reins completely and tries to shake up the franchise with 6 like Hashino did with P3 or Wada does the safe thing and just builds on what Hashino has done.

The only difference is that P5's story is more tightly knit since it's essentially a visual novel. Even despite this, the plot falls apart during Kaneshiro's dungeon, raises itself back up again during Futaba's dungeon, and falls back into a slump with Shieo's dungeon and the ending as a whole. Hopefully Royal can fix the horrifle ending, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Except for the fact that the dungeons are absolutely mindless. The puzzles border on ridiculously easy, to incredibly tedious, and there's no real middle ground. This doesn't even include the broken stealth aspect of the dungeons, which are an absolute joke and can be bypassed with relative simplicity by simply clinging onto a wall. XC2's open and refreshing world still has more to offer in terms of replayability than the dungeons because of how they function story wise. After you beat them, they're gone for good and you're stuck with Mementos.

I'm hoping for more costumes. Cute outfits for my waifus. Also, more weapons, 2 more dungeons, one more ultimate personas for each character like in P4G.
I also expect 3 months of new gameplay...A new ending.
Apparently they really went wild with new content compared to P4G which was already packed.
And P5 vanilla is already a packed game.

My main problem was with the original story. I'm not exactly excited for a new semester that's going to be rushed and ultimately either be pointless to the overall plot or even worse detrimental

The fucking story was shit. It was all over the place. It was first about getting revenge for being abuse and then it went of to being, "WE ARE REAL, LOOK AT US!!!" It's all over the place. The worst part is that you don't see the thieves being close to one another. They're just going, "Let's stop this man" and that's it. The story is all over the place and there is almost no character development.

Not "necessary" but I liked the way they did it in P4G. And honestly that way some characters can get a better one... Makoto and Haru, for instance. Especially Haru, her ultimate persona is retarded.

The plotline is basic and easy to follow. The problem with it is that it doesn't follow it's own theme. It's about rebellion and society. How does Futaba's palace revolve around that? Who are the Phantom rebelling against? Kamoshida made sense. He was ruining the lives of teenagers because they couldn't talk back. What does the art world and mafia have anything to do with teenagers?
