It's huge, relatively empty and a lot of the color schemes are grody which can be said for pretty much all N64 platformers really.

The scariest part of this game is having to chase that bird that steals your hat.

That’s because it dips the frame rate but it looked very impressive at the time so they wanted to show the effect off even if it only occurs once. The first time you play the frame rate drops to single digits sometimes above water. The level still chugs without it iirc but with the effects its very noticeable.
